3 Chapter 3: The PY Connection

As the class teacher exited the classroom, the other students instinctively turned their attention to the two students in the front row.

Well, they were the class monitor and martial arts committee members, after all.

Unfazed by the attention, the two students confidently stepped onto the stage. Many male students couldn't help but notice the monitor's striking beauty.

"My name is Lin Xue, and as the class monitor, I hope everyone will actively cooperate with our class tasks in the future," Lin Xue introduced herself, exuding an inexplicable air of authority that left many students avoiding eye contact.

Another boy, Yin Rui, added, "Hi, I'm Yin Rui. I'll be in the same class as all of you next semester. I hope we can work together and make our first semester together memorable."

"Now, we need some students to help us collect study materials. Are there any volunteers?"

"I'll do it."

"Count me in."

"I'm in too."

After Yin Rui's request, many male students eagerly stood up, displaying their enthusiasm.

The ages of sixteen and seventeen are when students are at their most vibrant and attractive. Despite Lin Xue's somewhat aloof demeanor, her beauty still garnered attention.

In the end, six boys and one girl volunteered to contribute to the class and followed Lin Xue and Yin Rui out of the classroom.

At this moment, a boy in the front row named Chen Chu clicked his tongue and remarked, "Appointing class monitor and martial arts committee members without even knowing their names? There must be some PY trading going on."

"PY trading? Isn't that just for the class monitor?" Chen Chu asked, somewhat surprised.

The boy in front of him turned to him with a meaningful smile and said, "You're underestimating high school class cadres, my friend. These positions are not that simple."

With a smile, he introduced himself, "Hi, I'm Xia Youhui. I attended the Third Middle School for junior high. What about you?"

"Chen Chu, promoted from Lingshan No. 1 Middle School," Chen Chu replied succinctly.

"Lingshan No. 1 Middle School, I've heard it's a beautiful place. I visited once."

Chen Chu looked at this friendly boy and asked curiously, "Xia, are there any differences between high school class cadres and junior high class cadres?"

"There's a world of difference," Xia Youhui replied enviously. "According to national regulations, everyone can learn Zhenwu after high school. However, you must understand that there are dozens of students in a class and one or two thousand in a grade."

"In this situation, Teacher Zhenwu can't possibly give personal attention to all the students. There are dozens, or even hundreds, of students in each class."

"That's when the roles of class monitors become significant. As class cadres, they can request one-on-one time with the teacher if they find a reason."

"At that point, the teacher will offer guidance on cultivation techniques and personal experiences, giving them an edge over other students."

"Furthermore, the higher their grades, the more attention they receive from the school and even the government, resulting in more resources being allocated to them. They can progress step by step."

"I see," Chen Chu nodded in understanding. He now realized why there might be an underlying story to the teacher's choice of class cadres.

At this point, Xia Youhui lowered his voice and said, "That's not all. I heard that high school martial arts class cadres receive monthly contribution points as a reward."

"Contribution points? What are those?" Chen Chu asked, feeling a bit puzzled. He genuinely had no knowledge of these matters.

Xia Youhui shook his head, saying, "They're crucial resources for martial arts practice. My brother told me that they could provide opportunities to earn a bit after high school."

Xia Youhui seemed like the type who picked up information here and there. After chatting with Chen Chu, he went on to strike up conversations with the students around him, quickly making friends.

Not just Xia Youhui, but all the other students in the classroom were equally surprised by the new school environment on the first day.

Only a few, like Chen Chu, sat quietly, observing their surroundings.

Soon, Lin Xue and Yin Rui returned with bags full of study materials. After distributing the textbooks, many students left the classroom in groups of two or three to explore the campus. Lin Xue and Yin Rui, in particular, drew more attention, with students surrounding them.

Chen Chu decided to head home to buy food for the hexagonal salamander.

"Boss, how much for these shrimp?" Chen Chu asked, standing in front of the seafood stall at the farmer's market.

"Twenty yuan per catty."

Chen Chu hesitated briefly, then pointed at some small white fish on the ground in a bucket, "What about these small whitefish?"

"Five yuan."

"Give me ten catties of the small whitefish," Chen Chu said. With Zhang Xiaolan as the sole breadwinner in the family, every bit of savings mattered.

After scanning the QR code to pay, Chen Chu left the market carrying ten catties of fish and some vegetables for lunch and dinner.

Zhang Xiaolan left for work very early in the morning and returned late at night, so most of the time, Chen Chu handled dinner, and Chen Hu took care of the dishes.

Upon returning home, it was only a little past ten in the morning, and Chen Hu had yet to return.

Chen Chu put most of the small fish in the refrigerator to freeze and cleaned the remaining pound of small fish, chopping them into small pieces.

Since he was essentially feeding himself, it made sense to clean up properly.

Having not eaten since morning, the salamander avatar was quite hungry, and Chen Chu felt the avatar's strong hunger through their shared consciousness.

As Chen Chu ascended the stairs with a plate of fish, he found the small, black sesame-like eyes of the white salamander rolling around, looking rather adorable.

Chen Chu focused his consciousness, directing his attention to the salamander.

The salamander, which had been lazing around, suddenly sprang to life, wiggling its tiny limbs and making its way to the plate to begin eating.

Whether it was due to a lack of mental strength or the shared consciousness, when Chen Chu concentrated on himself, the newt avatar would enter a weakened state of consciousness. It wouldn't shut down, but its responses would become sluggish.

Similarly, when Chen Chu's consciousness controlled the clone, the response of his own body was similar, preventing him from controlling both bodies simultaneously.

As for this issue, Chen Chu didn't currently have a solution; he would have to see if he could develop the ability to multitask in the future.

While Chen Chu was lost in thought, his hexagonal salamander, controlled by his consciousness, took a bite of fish.

As the fish entered its stomach, it dissolved and digested at an astonishing speed, transforming into a weak, warm current that spread throughout the body, nourishing its growth.

The hexagonal salamander had six-sided gills, and its snow-white body grew visibly under Chen Chu's watchful eye.

The digestion speed of the salamander clone was astonishing. With each meal equivalent to its

size, it grew by one centimeter, then repeated the process.

It would only enter a rest period once it accumulated one evolution point.

Based on Chen Chu's observations, the avatar's size could increase by four centimeters in a day, gaining two evolution points and consuming two catties of food. It would only take a few days to meet the first evolution requirement.

"I wonder what the hexagonal salamander will evolve into. A large hexagonal salamander? Or perhaps a hexagonal dragon?"
