27 Chapter 27: Masked Man
Nath slashes his sword at the slime before an unexpected thing happened. The slime swiped its leg at Nath and both of his light swords were actually cut in half
If Nath wasn't able to dodge in time, that leg might have taken his life already. However, despite dodging the slime's leg, Nath's body was still slashed and droplets of blood fell to the ground
"Retreat!" Keon immediately shouted after seeing what happened. Turns out that this slime is far more powerful than they had thought. Nath wasn't even able to defend himself and his swords were easily cut in half
It was only the first clash yet Nath was already injured. To help Nath, Gabe conjured water whips and wrapped them on the slime's legs to prevent it from attacking again
Nath took that chance and he retreats back while making a trail made from his own blood. Keon didn't waste any time and went to Nath's side to seal his wound with ice
"Change of plan, Gabe restrain it with your water and we will give support" Keon shouted and Gabe immediately did as he was told
Gabe gathered rotating water in his palms and met the slime's legs with it
The fast rotation of Gabe's water made it so that the slime's legs were unable to harm him but looking at his trembling body, it was clear that he won't be able to hold on for long
"Its body is made from crystal, blunt attacks would be more effective!" Keon said before making five cards at the same time. All his cards turned brown in color and blocks of rocks came out from them
Mady also controlled her fire and barely managed to form a hammer made from it
The rocks and fire hammer charged at the slime but the four were forgetting something. The crystal slime also has a tail!
The slime's tail glowed with a brighter light as it gathered energy in that part and soon, a yellowish ray was fired by it
With a swipe of its tail, the slime easily destroyed both Keon and Mady's attack
At the same time that happened, Gabe's defense was broken and his shoulder was pierced by the slime's leg before it threw him far away to the point that his head heavily hits the ground causing him to lose consciousness
The sudden turn of events was too fast for even Keon to react especially since he just finished barely dodging the energy ray attack from the slime
One of their Level 3 Mystic was already defeated and is in a critical condition. This slime .... is too powerful!
As if the slime knows who the most dangerous people among its enemies, it changed its focus into Mady
The slime charged energy from its tail once again and shot another energy ray. At the same time, it swiped its legs in the air and two arcs of yellowish light were formed. All these attacks only have one target and that is Mady
"Dodge!" Keon shouted and a wall made from crimson fire appeared in front of the only woman around
The firewall blocks the slime's attack before it got destroyed and Mady's body was flung away while an arrow of blood came out from her mouth
"Mady!" Both Nath and Keon shouted as their situation suddenly turned extremely dangerous
Seeing two of his comrades in a critical condition, Nath's eyes reddened and his aura starts to rose. Some sort of barrier was broken inside him and his Cube World expanded
Nath broke through and not just that, aside from the increase in strength that he had gained from becoming a Level 3 Mystic, more power also filled his body
It was the spiral power again! Seeing his comrades in such a dangerous situation fueled Nath's wrath and power he normally doesn't have starts flowing through his body
The tattoo made from light in Nath's forehead expanded and two swords once again formed in his hands. These swords are different than before though. They gave off a feeling of intense power and sharpness as if it can cut everything in its path
"AAAAHHH !!!" Nath shouted angrily and more swords formed on top of him
After Nath's outbursts, five swords that each has 2 meters in size were made and he immediately charges at the hateful slime
The ground beneath Nath's foot violently cracks forming around three inches deep crater and in no time, he reached the crystal slime
Using the swords in his hands, Nath cut the slime's legs in half causing it to lose balance. After that, the five long swords above him descend and stabbed the slime's body as easily as cutting tofu
Spiral power... this is the second time that Keon saw it in action. The first time, Nath is still too weak and the increase in power wasn't that much
However, as long as a mystic grows, the amount of spiral power they can gain also grows exponentially. Mady and Gabe wasn't even able to do anything towards the slime but Nath's swords showed no mercy to the slime
Keon thought that the slime would be dead and the danger will end after being attacked by Nath like that but Kreon suddenly warned him
"Above!" Keon quickly raised his head and he saw a figure floating in the sky
That figure looks like a human but it was wearing a robe with a hood. Even his face has a mask in it as if he doesn't want anyone to see his face at all
"W-who is that?" Keon thought inwardly and he had a bad feeling about this
As if proving Keon's sense of danger, without a warning, Nath's body heavily fell to the ground. More blood dyed the ground and all of his swords dissipated
What spiral power? In front of absolute power, even spiral power will look like a joke!
Nath wasn't even able to resist and he was immediately defeated after killing the slime that caused devastating damages to his group
"Kekeke, how surprising, you managed to defeat the crystal slime" that clothed figure said and Keon gritted his teeth while looking up to that man
"Oh, I like that look in your eyes. Will you despair or fight me to death?" The figure asked provocatively and Keon clenches his fist
After witnessing that man's power, Keon knows that he won't be able to defeat him but .... should he just let that man kill him?
"Is this my end? How laughable, it hasn't even a whole day after I felt that I finally gained some power but I am already facing my doom" Keon ridiculed himself. His earlier thoughts were really laughable, he was a big fool. What power? The clothed figure was even treating him like he is some form of amusement!
"However, hearing that hateful voice, I don't want to give him the satisfaction"
Despite the low chance of success, Keon still forced himself and seven cards appeared around his body. Making seven cards at a time made his soul ache as it was really beyond his limits
Keon waved his hand and threw one of the cards to his enemy. The card issued a blinding light so intense that if Keon didn't avert his gaze in time, he would also be affected by it
Keon's cards were unpredictable as you won't know what sort of attack it will launch and he was betting on it. No matter what, even a powerful human will die if they are stab, burned, or slashed
With the blinding effect of his card, Keon became bolder or more like he needs to be bolder
The six remaining cards encircled the clothed man before shooting attacks from different elements. The man needs an all-around defense if he wants to block all of Keon's attacks
Keon's desperate assault doesn't end there though. He forced himself again and he jumped high before two large cards appeared below his feet
The cards issued strong gusts of winds and despite the mental exhaustion, Keon still summoned his sword while charging towards his enemy
Even if the man managed to block the elemental attacks, Keon still hope to finish this fight with his sword
Soon, explosions occurred as the elemental attacks hit their targets. Keon's hope rose because of that but when the smokes vanished and he was near his enemy, he saw that his attacks don't have that much of an effect
The man dodges Keon's sword before striking the latter with his palm
Keon doesn't really have the ability to fly and he can't change his direction at all. The palm hits his abdomen and his body fell down the ground at a fast speed
The sounds of his breaking bones entered Keon's ears and he coughed out a mouthful of blood. However, instead of losing hope, his eyes burned more intensely
When Keon attacked that masked man, he saw some blood dripping from his enemy. His brilliant plan although doesn't succeed for a hundred percent but it still works!
The masked man is injured and that became Keon's only ray of hope. There is still some chance. He thought that the masked man has an otherworldly power considering how he defeated Nath in one attack but seems like that was only because it was done in a sneak attack
