2 Chapter 2: Connecting to the Cube World

March 13, Year 1,000 of the Mystic Age

A group of around a hundred orphans can be seen gathering in front of a platform. The platform was only one meter high and is painted with gray color

Just like most of the things inside the orphanage, the platform isn't aesthetically appealing in the slightest. However, although it isn't pleasing to the eyes, the orphans were still staring at it or more like looking at the person standing on top of that platform with excitement on their faces

In the middle of the platform was a table that holds a clear crystal ball and a man with an eyepatch can be seen standing behind that table. The man was exuding an air of strictness and power and he is wearing a set of military uniform

The middle-aged man was standing as straightly as he can while looking at the orphans using his cold dark eye

The orphans were scared by the stare that the man was giving to them but they are still extremely excited as today, they would finally be given the chance to be Mystics

It was exactly that crystal ball and the middle-aged man that will help them connect to their Cube World and harness the power of Mystics

One of the orphans was looking particularly excited. It was a youth with black hair and eyes. The youth has sword shape eyebrows and below it was his long and thick eyelashes that can make any girl jealous

His eyes were in the perfect size and shape that can almost drown people if they look straight to his eyes. Below those eyeballs were a pointy nose and clear cheeks

Even below that was the youth's natural reddish lips. His skin is originally on the lighter side but since the sun always hits his skin, it gave him some tan

This youth is no other than Keon Croel, the person that is possibly the most excited to be a Mystic among this batch of orphans

Keon's body was visibly shaking from excitement while he almost salivated as he looks at the platform

The day that Keon has been waiting for finally arrived, he will now become a Mystic! A person that wield supernatural powers that he longed for a long time

"Dude, calm down" one of Keon's 'friends' said while hitting his shoulder a bit. Keon was a bit annoyed at that but he didn't show his real emotions on his face

"Hehe, sorry, I'm just excited" Keon replied while scratching the back of his head in 'embarrassment'. It gave him a bashful and youthful look that causes the girls around him to be captivated by his charms again

"With your talent, you would surely become a powerful Mystic, don't forget us when that happened!" Keon's friends joked again but he just laughs at them

'Bastard, I know you secretly hate me because your crush has a crush on me' Keon thought before turning back his focus in the man standing on top of the platform

The orphans continued to wait for a few minutes. They want the man to start but none of them dared to say anything. Just one look from the man was already enough to make them terrified

Fortunately, after some time, the man with a serious face turned to look at a watch on his wrist and decided that the time was right. Seems like this military guy is a punctual person

"We humans are facing dangers in every corner of the world. If not for our Mystics protecting your small lives, none of you might have survived up to this day"

"That is why, you all should shed your tears, blood, and sweat for humanity. To give your insignificant life a meaning, all of you must become a powerful Mystic that will help humanity return to its former glory"

"Now, all of you fall in line and I'll help you connect with your Cube World one by one. I want the process to be a neat and proper one. Don't get swallowed by your excitements!" The man warned and a lot of the students gulped before they start walking towards him

Keon wants nothing more than to pushed the other orphans away so that he'll be able to become a Mystic in a shorter time but he knew he can't do that. Who knows what that soldier will do to him? Keon still wants to keep his kind image

Soon, the first orphan finally stood in front of the soldier and the crystal ball while his whole being was filled with nervousness

"Put your hands on top of the crystal" the soldier coldly said and the orphan uses his shaking hands to touch the crystal ball. The orphan almost shuddered at that. He was already having cold sweats yet the Crystal Ball is also cold to the touch

After that, the soldier raises his finger and a small stream of colorless energy came out from his fingertip. The energy entered the orphan's chest and the crystal ball starts having myriads of colorful lights

"Close your eyes and you will see your Cube World, remember that feeling, it is the key for you to use Mystic Powers" the soldier continue and the orphan did what he was told

Keon watched from the distance with some jealousy in his eyes. After the orphan closes his eyes, nothing interesting happened again except for the lights inside the crystal that were swirling around

That causes Keon to be more curious about the process of connecting to one's Cube World. He really can't wait for his turn

After a few seconds, the first orphan opened his eyes while a look of shock formed on his face

"Take this and move, it has the basic instruction to make your first Mystic Form" the soldier said in a shooing manner. The orphan can only bow his head while taking the watch

The watch is one of the humans' technologies and it worked like a computer. It was not expensive but since the orphans don't have any way to make a living, even until now, they still don't have such a basic thing that almost every human have

The orphans were helped by the soldier to connect into their Cube World one by one and all of them had that shock looks on their faces after

After more than ten minutes, it was finally Keon's turn and he excitedly puts his shaking and sweating hands on top of the crystal ball

The soldier did the same thing that he does to the other students and a stream of colorless energy entered Keon's chest

"So this is Mystic Energy" Keon thought as he stared at the energy that is now entering his chest

BOOM!

Keon heard a loud sound inside his body and he saw how the crystal ball was once again filled with colorful lights and he closes his eyes

As soon as Keon closed his eyes, his consciousness entered his chest, particularly his heart

What Keon saw inside was a colorless world. He can see that he is inside a cube that was filled with power and energy

"This is my Cube World?" Keon said to himself. In the years that he spent in the orphanage, he naturally already learned some of the basics

Cube World just like its name is a cube shape world. This world is filled with colorless energy that the humans called Mystic Energy

Keon looked around him and he was shocked. Normal people's Cube World is only one cubic meter. That was the 'default setting'

Some can exceed that as they have 1.5 or 2 cubic meters. However .... Keon's Cube World size is four cubic meters!

That alone already greatly shocked Keon a lot and when he looks at himself, he saw his soul. Keon raises the 'hand' of his soul and put it closer to his face to see it

"Just like what my teacher said, the soul is slightly bluish in color" Keon commented and after that, he turned his eyes to his chest

That place is where the Cube Core that is gold in color should be located. But ... Keon was given another shock

Humans only have one Cube Core but he ...

In the middle of Keon's chest was a two inches golden Cube Core. However, around that cube core were five pea-size cores with different colors of black, white, gray, and the last one is a mixture of a bunch of colors that are numerous to be distinguished individually. Those smaller cores were a bit dull though and they don't have even a hint of vitality unlike the biggest core in the middle

"W-what is this?" Koen asked himself in shock. Everything inside his Cube World is completely different than what Keon was taught with

Keon was about to investigate the abnormalities that he has but he suddenly heard the soldier's voice

"What are you doing? Move now!" That loud voice immediately causes Keon to return back in reality and his face paled a bit at seeing the soldier is looking at him angrily

"I-I'm sorry" Keon apologized while bowing his head and took his watch before moving to the side. That was not the time to investigate things

"Dude, are you that happy that you finally connected to your Cube World?" Keon's friend commented with a hint of ridicule in his voice. "Hahaha, sorry about that" Keon replied like everything is normal but he was bothered inside him

Keon doesn't know if the abnormalities he had was a good or bad thing, he can only hope that it was the former than the latter

More minutes passed and all the orphans finally connected to their Cube World and the soldier starts gathering their attention

"The basic information on how to make your Mystic Form is inside that watch. Read it carefully and I hope that some of you will already have one Mystic Form after a few days. I'll only teach those who managed to successfully make their mystic form. For now, you all are dismissed! "

Some of the students immediately went back to their rooms in excitement as they want to show talents. Only if they showed enough talents would they have a bright future

"Go back in the dorm without me" Keon said to his friends and starts walking fast causing the five to look at his back with dissatisfaction

Keon doesn't really want to act this 'rude' but he was extremely worried. Who knows what will happen if he tried to make a Mystic Form when he has a lot of abnormalities?

After some time, Keon reached an area of ​​the orphanage with some trees in them and he uses the trees to shade him from the sun.

The happenings in human history made it so that there are currently enough lands for them even though they only have four realms remaining

The mass extinction causes the number of humans to be low and with the constant wars with the monsters, more humans died

It created a strange balance wherein a lot of people were born but a lot also died in the hands of the monsters. After all, the barriers are constantly weakening from time to time, giving the monsters a chance to attack human settlement. And since humanity's wish is to restore their lands, they are also trying their best to kill more monsters aside from the ones that managed to enter the four realms through the weak points

Keon sat in front of one of the trees and tapped the watch on his wrist. The watch projected a screen in mid-air and it looks exactly like a phone or computer of the previous eras. But since humanity managed to retain some of their technologies, something that needs huge devices to work was condensed into a single watch

Keon tapped the file's icon and it only contained a single folder. He tapped on that too and started reading the contents. Just like what the soldier said, it gave out basic instructions on how to make a Mystic Form

The key for that is naturally the Cube World and the thing called - River of Possibilities
