Chapter 27_ Don't speak down on humans

Vidal

~~

His pulse was rising with every minute that passed. They needed to get out of there before more harm could be done but how would he explain to the others what he did?

They would never understand him and might even get him punished by the originals law enforcers.

Oh, gosh, he was in a mess. A very big, large one.

After they got sent out by the stupid officer the Sheriff sent in, he thought the others would explode at being treated that way by mere humans but they didn't.

They thought they were doing it for the family. Enduring and acting cool-headed while dealing with the old woman's family and also answering the disgusting Sheriff's questions.

Now, what would they do to him when they found out it was all because of him? That it all happened because of him?

How does he solve this mess?

He saw as the man who went to get the tape from the old woman's apartment walked into the office which already had LSR and the Sheriff in it.

At least, their chances of winning this was bigger as the boy had said just the exact same thing they had said.

Not less then ten minutes after, they all got summoned back to the office. Including the old woman's family whom were nagging and calling them names indistinctly as they waited impatiently for the Sheriff's order.

He was the first one to rush in, bypassing the old woman's family members who were struggling to enter first. If only they knew his strength, they wouldn't bother.

He could send them thumping from where they stood inside the precinct to the streets in front of the building if he wanted. But it was them who had chosen to live with the humans so, they knew they had to abide by their rules.

They could choose to live under the shadows if they wanted. Away from the human society like her, the one that found him. But, they were the Nature Family and they strive to live their lives as normal as possible while running from the wild to avoid battles.

" This family already has an alibi stronger than yours and we can resolve this if you all apologize to them for your wrong claims and we might end this with a little fine maybe but, if you continue to hold your stand and there is no stronger evidence that proves you are telling the truth, I will allow the judge say what's next in court" Sheriff Blair said to them- the nature family.

He could almost feel the anger that would have swelled up in the others but he knew the Sheriff was right.

First, they needed to get out of there and work things right. By right, he meant him telling the truth and finding a way to save Fender sooner.

Calliope, her mouth ever so sharp was the first one to snap at the Sheriff. " I assure you we speak nothing but the truth Sheriff. And if we are settling this in court, then so be it!" she raged, not doing a good job of containing her anger anymore.

She was the last member to be recruited into the family and Vidal could imagine just how much she would have gotten used to living as a higher species to the humans and just learning to be at peace with them and endure their audacities.

" Just.." the boy next door started to speak but halted when he saw the number of eyes on him. " Check the CCTV cameras like I mentioned, those won't lie" he decided on finishing his statement.

Darn- this boy was right. Maybe he would get to like him later. The street's CCTV cameras would prove their truth about the old woman coming to their door.

But, was it the truth?

Or just the truth they were made to see. It was the others who got fooled, he didn't.

" Don't teach a law enforcement officer his job!" the sheriff took to countering the boy.

Could he just shut up already and cut the crap?

Oh, how he missed those days when it was easier to snap the necks of humans and other creatures lurking amidst them.

" You all will return to your homes and allow us carry out our investigation. Also, please, no one leaves the town until we are done with this case. Goodbye!" the sheriff dismissed them.

The wince that came with the disrespectful dismissal by the sheriff was not supposed to be. He should have gotten used to tolerating humans by now.

He had but he was over the edge by this crisis. One he had caused.

They all marched out of the precinct except for the boy next door who would be taken to his house by the police officers in their car because of his disability.

As they stepped out, Vidal could hear the members of the old woman's family nagging.

" Can we find a taxi this late at night?" they fumed.

One of them retorted in anger. " And we cannot call anyone to bring the car from home since we are all here!"

" Can Davidson drive already?" one of them asked, it was a woman.

Another woman countered her. " Definitely not my son, let's walk if we must. He's only 15!"

Vidal wanted to laugh at that. A dumb one among them had actually suggested for a 15 year old to drive the car down to them. It seems they wanted to spend the money from the fine they definitely would receive from them on hospital bills.

" I can't stand this anymore" August said between gritted teeth.

" Let's just go" Gizem advised and they began make their walk home.

They were originals, they could walk a million miles without getting tired.

On their way, the irritation the others had made themselves retain while in the precinct were let out.

" I can't believe those weak things could still lie about the obvious!" Calliope seethed.

August countered her. " One of the rules of the Nature family is to not look down or speak down on humans since we chose to live among them" he said like a responsible chap and then added the most irresponsible statement afterward. " At least, not since their wines tastes like heaven"

A rule that was a lie. A rule none of them could adhere too except for Farris and maybe Rune. Those two were the ones with the big hearts although Farris keeps a strong face all day everyday, the man was a kind one.

Even Luna who smiles every time was not so kind, the woman could be scary and brutal at times. The smile was a facade.

" Interrupt me again and I will send you to that heaven you so much like to taste" Calliope gave angrily a false threat to August.

August fired at her in reciprocation. " You mean a bird wants to fight a pigeon?"

" Skip the crap" Gizem frowned. " A pigeon's a bird too. You are the male original bird and she's the female. It's because you two do not want to accept your kinship was why we all pretend along to be waiting for the original bird when he's actually here" she supplied.

Simultaneously, Calliope and August snapped at her. " Never!"

" Can we talk about the issue at hand please?!" Vidal found himself who was actually the most in serious member of the family get serious.

August came over and strapped a hand across his shoulder. " Come on buddy, you are allowing this piece of cake get to you. Tomorrow, they will find the CCTV recordings and arrest the old woman for attempted murder" he was saying but a car sped beside them, horning at the highest pitch.

" I hope your bones sounds so loud when I break every piece of them bastard!" August shouted after the car.

Look who talked about the rule.

He cleared his throat and continued to address his friend. " I think you need one of our fun time in the clubs and have a good time with the women like you usually do. I hear they have the best ones here" he chuckled when he was done talking.

Usually, Vidal would also joke about the women and drinks and they would both continue to rant about how fun that could be. He was the one who liked women, August likes the alcohols.

But this time, he was in no mood for play. He removed August's hand from his shoulder. " I don't think this is the right time to think about fun August" he said.

" Thank God, at least, a sensible one" Calliope shook her head from behind them that she was walking.

" I just hope Fender will be alright" Gizem sighed.

They were at the front of their gate now and so were the police officers who brought the next door boy home.

They were gawking at the Nature family, both the officers and the next door boy obviously surprised to find them get home so fast.

If they had used their powers, they would have been inside their house before one could count down to three but they could not.

Ignoring the surprised gazes fixated on them, they went into their gate, locking it behind them as they made their way into the house.

Thankfully, the others have also returned.

Is Fender okay now?
