Chapter 3

Cruz’s POV

“Ouch!” I groaned in pain as we both fell into the pit.

“But there isn’t a pit there before, how did we suddenly find ourselves here??” I thought

“This isn’t ordinary,” I thought again

“Cruz? How are we gonna come out from here?” I heard Ashley voice.

I faced her.

“I don’t know either,” I said really disturbed

Suddenly, she sat down on the floor as tears rolled down her eyes.

“Maybe we should shout for help, someone may be near,” I suggested and she faced up instantly.

“That’s true,” She said with her voice breaking

“At the count of 3, we are gonna shout ‘Help please!!” I said to her and she nodded.

“1 . . . . . . . 2 . . . . . . . . . . . 3!!!!”

“Help Please!! We yelled together but we couldn’t hear any footstep.

“Gosh! This place is so scary,” She cried out.

“Let’s try it again,” I said facing her and she nodded.

“1 . . . . . . . . . . . . 2 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3!”

“Help please!” We cried out again.

We did it again but all to no avail.

“Gosh! Why did this have to happen to us??” I said really fed up.

I sat down on the floor sweating profusely.

“Gosh! I’m hungry,” Ashley cried out.

“I’m thirsty and I missed my mum,” I said amidst of tears.

“Mum must be searching for us,” She said and I burst into more tears.

We held each other’s hands as we both cried out for help.

Night falls and we were all alone in the pit where there was no food or water to drink.

We both managed to sleep in hunger.

Mr. Nadine’s POV (Cruz’s dad)

“Where is my son??” I roared at her and she shivered as she stood.

“I have no idea where they both went to,” She said amidst of tears.

“What are you thinking when they went out? Don’t you see them both walking out of the house?? I have always warned you never to allow them play around again, Have you seen where you stubbornness has led you into??” I said angrily

“I’m so sorry darling,” She said pleading in tears.

“You know what? I don’t wanna hear any of your pleas, just go out and look for them for me!” I roared angrily and she panicked.

“Alright, I’ll go now,” She said searching for something.

She put on her slippers and ran out of the house.

“Gosh!! I have to go with her so she won’t get lost too,” I thought and ran out following her.

We both searched for them everywhere but all to no avail.

Mr. Lustra’s POV (Ashley’s dad)

I got back from work and rested my head on the couch as I scrolled through messages on my phone.

“But wait o, why is this house silent? Where are Ashley and her mum??” I thought sitting straight.

“Maybe I should call her mum,” I thought again dialing her number but she didn’t pick up.

I dialed it again and this time, she picked it after some minutes.

“Hello,” I said on the phone.

“Darling, are you back from work?” She asked with her voice shaking.

“What’s wrong with your voice?” I questioned.

She busted into tears.

“We can’t find Ashley,” She said in tears.

“What??? Where are you?? Come home right now!” I yelled out.

“Alright,” She said still in tears and hung up.

“I’m not gonna believe this!”

“She must really be kidding me.”

“My only child mustn’t be missing.”

“Where could she be??”

“Gosh!! It can never be true!!” I murmured amidst of tears.

I placed my hands on my forehead as I felt really upset.

Suddenly, the door opened and I stared up only to find my wife standing by the door.

Her eyes are swollen already.

She must have cried so much.

“Come closer and repeat what you said on the phone,” I said angrily

“I’m so sorry honey; I don’t know where she is right now. She walked out with her friend, Cruz saying they wanna go and have fun outside but they haven’t come back. I and Cruz’s mum even went in search of them but still couldn’t find them,” She explained as she knelt in front of me pleading.

Her tears dropped down at my feet.

Tears also dropped down from my eyes.

“So what you are saying is that she and Cruz are both missing?” I asked

“Yes,” She said nodding.

I have never imagined that something like this could happen to me.

My daughter, Ashley is missing?

I don’t wanna believe it’s true.

“Could they be kidnapped?” I asked and she became scared immediately.

“Gosh! My daughter!!” She cried out bitterly.

“Let’s go and search for the both of them,” I suggested ad she nodded.

We both stood up and walked towards the door.

We got out of the sitting room and headed towards the gate.

We both walked out of the compound and went in search of them.

“Ashley!! Cruz!! We yelled out their names but there was no respond since everywhere was quiet.

We walked around the whole street but couldn’t find them.

I heaved a sigh as I stood tiredly.

Sweats rolled down my face as I bent my head to the ground.

I feel so upset.

Does that mean I’m not gonna see my precious daughter again??

Gosh! This can’t be possible.

I must be dreaming right now.

“Honey, what’s that sound?” My wife asked tapping me.

“Sound? Which sound?” I asked with a frown.

“Try to listen attentively, I can hear some sounds right now,” he said suspiciously.

I stared at her and listened attentively to whatsoever sound she is talking about.

Suddenly, I began hearing some sounds.

“Where could that sound come from?” I asked her with one of my eyes widened.

“I don’t know too, but I wonder, could it be those children??” She asked and my two eyes widened.

“Really?? That might be true,” I said and cleaned away my sweats.

“Let’ trace the sound,” I said to her and she nodded.
