Chapter 1

Ashley POV

“Cruz! Cruz! Let’s go and play!” I said running into their compound

I pushed open the door of his house and he smiled immediately he saw me.

“Ashley!!” He called happily

“Good morning ma’am,” I greeted his mum

“How are you dear?” She asked walking towards me

“I’m fine ma’am,” I said seating beside Cruz on the couch

“Are you busy now?” I asked staring at him

“Nope,” I said shaking his head

“Alright, let’s go play in the garden,” I said happily

“Wow!! That’s cool, hide and seek would be better,” He said with a smile

“Yeah!” I nodded and we both stood up

He held my hands and we both walked out of the house together

“Make sure you play less, is that clear??” His mum yelled from inside

“Alright!!” We chorused and headed for the garden

We got there and began playing

Other children also joined us and it was really fun

I played till I was tired

After some minutes, we both walked back home happily

“Gosh! I’m so tired!” Cruz said when we got into the house

“Are you guys back?” His mum said from the kitchen

“Yes,” We chorused

“Alright, your food is ready,” She said walking to the dining with a tray of food in her hands.

My mum too was with her

“Mum??” I called and ran to hug her

“You are here baby,” She said smiling

“Yeah,” I said unlocking from the hug

“Hope you guys didn’t play too much?” My mum asked

“No,” We chorused and stared at each other then laughed

“Gosh! Funny children,” Cruz mum said and we all laughed

We all sat on the dinning and began eating

“Wow! It’s so delicious,” I said smiling

“Yes, it’s really so delicious, you are the best mum!” Cruz said smiling

“Thanks dearie,” She said smiling

We continued eating and after some minutes, we were through with our food

“Gosh! I’m sleepy,” I said yarning

“Same here,” Cruz said and I chuckled

We both lay on the couch and had a nap

I slightly opened my eyes and yarned loudly as I rolled to the floor

“Ouch!” I groaned in pain

“You still don’t know how to sleep,” My mum commented and I tried standing up

I stared up and saw Cruz still sleeping and snoring

I walked up to where he was and picked up a little paper and rolled it

I inserted it into his mouth and he sniffed

I laughed holding my stomach

He closed his eyes back and tried sleeping but I held his nose tight

Again, he sniffed and slightly opened his eyes

“Gosh! Why do you keep disturbing me?” He murmured

“Stand up!” I said trying to insert another paper into his mouth but he held my hand tight

I laughed

“Let me go,” I roared laughing hard

He also laughed

He stood up and yarned loudly

“Gosh! You spoilt my sleep again,” He said staring at me

“That’s good for you!!” I said holding my cheek and pulling out my tongue

“Naughty girl,” He said and knocked me on my head

“Ouch!!” I groaned pushing out my lips

He laughed holding his stomach

He stood up and we both walked out of the house

He held my hands and we hopped around the street

On our way, we met some group of children chatting and playing

“Should we join them?” I asked facing him

“Yeah;” He nodded and we hopped towards them

“Hi peeps,” He said raising his hands up to them

They stopped what they were doing and stared at us

“Wow! See this cutie,” One of them said pointing at Cruz and the other chuckled

I smiled

“Should we?” I asked

“Yeah, sure,” One of them said

“What’s your name?” a little girl asked facing us.

“I’m Cruz Nadine,” Cruz said with a smile.

“What about you?” she asked staring at me.

“I’m Ashley Lustra,” I said

“Wow! What a beautiful name you have gotten,” A boy said and I chuckled.

“Let’s continue our game,” one of them said

“Can you play the game we are playing?” Another asked pointing at what they drew on the floor

“Game? Yeah!” We chorused staring at each other

“Alright, seat down and join us,” She said and we both sat down

They started and we watched as they do

“Choose a color,” a girl said facing us

“Hmmm, blue,” We chorused

The children laughed and I was forced to laugh with them.

I can’t believe we could say the same thing.

“Gosh!! Are we thinking the same way??” I thought still laughing

“Choose differently,” one of them said when silence took over.

“Alright,” I said nodding

“You!! start,” the girl said to me

I nodded

“I choose blue,” I said smiling

“You must like blue,” one of them said and I chuckled

“What about you?” the girl asked facing Cruz

“Hmm, purple,” Cruz said placing his fingers on his lips.

“It has been chosen by Betty,” a boy said pointing at the girl who first welcomed us.

“Ohh! really?” Cruz asked

“Yeah,” He said

“Choose another color,” another boy said and he nodded.

“Fine, I choose pink,” He said staring at them.

“Chosen by me,” a little girl said raising up her hands.

“Gosh!” Cruz said really upset.

“Maybe you should just choose white,” I suggested.

“Perfect!!! No one has chosen it right?” Cruz asked with his eyes widened

“Yeah,” they nodded

“Now, let’s start the game,” a girl said

“This is how the game goes; I will start it, so if I call a particular color which is yours, you will stretch your right hand forward. It will be done one after the other, like if I start and call color blue and the person stretch his or her hand’s forward, the person who chooses color blue will then, take over and it will go on like that but note that it will be called very fast so you have to listen attentively if your color is mentioned and if you didn’t respond faster after your color is called, everyone here is gonna beat you at the back of your palm.” The girl addressed

“Ok,” We chorused

“Game starts now!!” She said

“Color pink!” She called really fast.

“Yeah!” The little girl said stretching her hand’s forward.

“Color orange!” She took over.

“Yeah!!!” a boy said stretching his hand’s forward.

“Color……red!!!” He took over

“Yeah!” a boy said stretching his hand’s forward and it continued like that.

I smiled as they did.

It looks so interesting.

“Color yellow,” a girl called really fast but no one responded immediately

I looked around.

“Who is color yellow?” I asked staring around

“Oh! It’s Nigel!” the little girl said pointing at a girl who is lost in thought.

“Nigel, you are color yellow!!” a boy yelled calling the girl’s attention back to us.

“Ohh! That’s true!!” Nigel said with her eyes widened and everyone burst into laughter.

“You are so lost in thought,” One of them said laughing.

“Seriously, bring your hand now!!” Cruz said with a smile.

‘Gosh! Pardon me please, I forgot!” She said pretending to be in tears and we all burst into laughter again.

We teased and make jest of her.

“Bring your hand forward baby girl,” Cruz said teasingly and we laughed

She brought her hands forward and we all slapped the back of her palm one after the other.

“Gosh! I swear, I must beat someone today too,” She said playfully and we laughed.

The game continued and it got to Cruz turn and he immediately brought out his hands and continued.

I stared happily as the children laughed as they play.

Suddenly, I heard someone called “Color blue”.

Immediately, I stretched out my right hand but noticed another person also stretched his hand’s forward.

I stared sideways and noticed it’s Cruz.

I exclaimed

“Are you color blue?” I asked staring at him surprisingly

“Ohh! I forgot!!” He exclaimed drawing back his hands to himself.

“But………wait first,” a girl said pointing at the both of us

“What?” we chorused focusing our gaze on her.

“The bracelet?” She asked pointing at our hands.

“Why are you both wearing it?” She asked with a little frown on her face.

“This is a special bracelet, I haven’t seen it anywhere before,” Nigel said

“Yes, it is mostly used by lovers,” a boy said

“It is mostly used by Lovers?” We chorused

“Are you both lovers??” the little girl asked teasingly

“What!!!”
