Inside the settlement.

As for how long they have been travelling in the vehicle, they had no idea, at least it should have been about a couple of hours.

Regardless, Bull who was the driver maintained a clear mind as he followed the path he believes leads to the government settlement.

For a long time now, they have been travelling through what could be called a desert of snow with only one road in the centre.

Only a couple of times would they see something moving in the s.nn now, but it turned out not to be attacking them. Because of this, Nate and his horde also mind their own business.

"I have a feeling this journey would have been faster if we were on foot," Lyon suddenly said as he sit up.

Sitting inside the long vehicle without anything in particular to do was tiering.

"Yeah... Am sure you have enough stamina to keep up with us," Twain said sarcastically.

Lyon was right though, their speed was far greater than that of the long vehicle they were in, running on foot would have been faster than travelling in the car, but the problem is the humans within them.

Sin, Wax, Zuni, Lynn and even Lyon himself would not be able to hold out far enough like the zombies. It's just a matter of time, for them to run out of stamina.

Nonetheless, Lyon wanted to argue but was interrupted by Nate who quickly addressed them.

"You guys should knock it off, we are already on the move," he said.

Inside the vehicle fell into another awkward silence again and this time, it was eating Nate up.

"I wish the mother ship could be teleported here also," he muttered.

If the mothership was with them, then they could have had a lot of things to do like training in the gym, or even watching some old movie clip before the apocalypse broke out.

However, at the main time, Nate has a lot going through his mind.

'The whitebonez, that type of whitebonez I thought they were the mature ones. Have their population increased also that they now come out for hunting, this issue definitely will be hard to resolve, ' Nate thought.

Nate have seen the matured whitebonez before and he learned from Leo back then that they were nearly impossible to see.

But just a few hours back, Nate saw one of the matured whitebonez going out to hunt with the premature whitebonez.

'I don't understand this whole thing, but I will eventually understand soon,' Nate thought.

Looking in the distance, finally, they could now see something up front, they looked like a building.

Seeing this, it just proved to them that they were on the right road.

As they got closer, the buildings were getting bigger and eventually, they could now see the buildings before them.

"Shi*t... I doubt all this was built two years!!" Mark shouted.

Nate himself was surprised to see the sight before him. The condition of the settlement didn't look like the ideal settlement he was expecting.

There were different skyscrapers and buildings, even billboards could still be seen advertising goods and so on.

The settlement looked more like a model civilized city, back before the apocalypse began.

"This place, how can this be... Someone leaving here will have no idea of what the actual conditions outside here are," Lyon said.

"Am starting to doubt that the people we are seeking are here," Shad said.

"No...it made a lot of sense," Nate suddenly said.

"This place has been kept a secret by the government, they even went ahead to erase it from the world map. What do you think is the reason for that?" Nate questioned but no one speak out.

"Maybe, because they are hiding something from the outside world, " Lynn of all people was the one that answered.

"Correct... This whole thing might be something that the government has been planning for decades."

"But... I thought you said the apocalypse started two years ago?" lyon asked.

Hearing this, Nate was also confused and was wondering what exactly the government was hiding for them to shoot people down from going to forever winter island before.

As they got closer, they also noticed that they won't enter the city area immediately. Before going into the city was some sort of small town built.

The buildings there were all built with wood, and would not exceed a story building.

However, before entering the town was another border like the one from before. The only difference is that this one was not heavily guarded.

Inside the vehicle, everyone became still as Mark stopped before one of the guards flagged him down.

Walking up to the driver said, the man said with his eyes glass on.

"What do we have here, fugitives, or recruit?" the man asked.

Mark on his side was confused and didn't know what to do. That was when Nate telecommunicate with him.

"Fugitive, " Mark replied.

Hearing this, the guards smiled. "Interesting... So, what do you have to offer?" he said with a smile.

Everyone in the car was puzzled by this but Nate seems to be understanding what was happening.

"Sorry... But we don't have cash on us right now, " Mark said.

This made the man burst into laughter. "No no no, cash is no longer valid, what I mean is crystals, don't you have those crystals inside a zombie or beast?" the man said again.

Hearing this, Nate seems to understand what was going on.

'It looks like the modern society cash is no longer valid, rather, beast crystals are now used as currency,' Nate thought impressed.

In the end, Mark secretly took out three crystals and handed them over to the guard.

"Have a nice stay inside..." the guard said before gesturing for the gate to be opened for them.

Just like that, Nate passed through the second border and was now heading towards the one that leads to the city.

Moving on the streets they were all looking out from the window. The condition in town now is not bad.

Few people could be seen and just by the smell, Nate could tell that the majority of the people were altered form.

Eventually, they reached the third border that will lead to the city but discovered a problem.

First was that a lot of people were gathered in that surrounding. There was a long line of people waiting to enter the city.

However, the main problem was the procedures needed to pass through the border.

First is that one has to pay a certain amount of crystal for him or her to pass. Another is that a test has to be carried out on someone.

A test that will tell whether one was a zombie or has the zombie virus on them.

'This is really a problem, ' Nate thought as he directed Mark to pack somewhere else.
