Lynn's POV

I realized that Karl was a kind-hearted person from the very first day of school. I had never seen anyone stand up against a group for the sake of a stray cat.

In the past, I had witnessed instances of bullying among students on my way home from school. The scenes were eerily similar: a group of male students, cigarettes dangling from their mouths, encircling a fallen classmate and mercilessly punching and kicking him. Their postures were casual; as one stepped back, another would step forward to land a vicious blow.

"Scum," "idiot," "what do you think you are," these offensive and vile words were hurled out, a pure expression of violence.
