Chapter 7 Party

Cleo and Leah traverse deeper into the forest in the hopes of finding a kobold but even after 2 hours they still yet to find any.

Before they decide to rest in a nearby tree they heard a conversation from the other side of the thicket.

"I think we need more party members for this." says by a raspy voice that belong to a middle aged man.

"I agree with you but this is the only Novices who chose the path of the swordsman in our guild." replied by his companion. She has a tone that shows sincerity and understanding of the situation their in.

Cleo overhead the conversation and signals Leah to come over to him.

"I guess Gods do really watch us. Look how convenient this setup is." muttered by Cleo.

'Shit! What is this? They will interrupt our honeymoon.' Leah think inwardly.

"Uhm, Cleo maybe we just avoid them? We don't know if we can trust them or not." whispered by Leah while looking like a puppy that's begging her owner to unconditionally accepts her request by just being cute.

Cleo however already knew her intentions since they are together since childhood.

"Don't worry Leah we will just ask them where to find some kobold so we can do our job quest by ourselves." Cleo answered.

Feeling defeated Leah just nodded and cling to his left arm.

The pair decided to reveal themselves to the party that consist of two Swordsman and five Novices. They all wore the same insignia on the right side of their chest. The symbol looks like a pair of angel wings with a sword in the middle.

Before they can talk the 5 Novices assumed a battle stances that startle Leah and mirrored their movements while Cleo slightly raise both of his arms to show surrender.

"Were not here to fight we just want to ask some questions." announce by Cleo while giving a genuine looking smile.

"At ease!" commanded by the middle aged man. Compare to the novices he wears a medieval set of armor with a brooch that looks like a small wings and a cape that reaches up to his heel.

"State your business." says by the caped middle aged man.

With the tense atmosphere clearing up Cleo ask them on where they can find kobolds so they can clear their job quest.

"I understand that you want to find isolated kobolds but that are rarer than you think. Most if not all kobolds belong to a settlement and they always move in packs." answered by the caped middle aged man.

"Well this your lucky day! We were in the middle of preparation to raid a kobold settlement to help our newly joined Novices to finish their job quest. Do you want to form a temporary party with us?" added by the caped middle aged man.

Cleo is surprised with the generous offer that was given to them.

"Leah I think this can accelerate our job quest faster instead of returning to town and finding a new party for kobold raids. When push come to shove we will both run and as much as possible stay close together." whispered by Cleo.

Leah albeit sad with the new development she understand that this for the best for the both of them as well so she just nods at Cleo and tighten her hug on his left arm.

"Sorry for our rudeness. Leah is a bit shy. Thank you for offering and we humbly accept. My name is Cleo and this is Leah." as to not arouse suspicion Cleo made up some excuse while answering them.

"We understand. I am Christoff this is my partner Valerie were both Crusader from the SwordSaints guild. We were tasked to supervise this Novices and help them with their job quest." replied by Christoff.

"To be honest with the both of you the kobold settlement we found need at least 10 Novices but don't worry instead of just supervising we will help clear out some of them." added by Valerie while giving a pleasant smile to the both of them.
