25 A fateful encounter

A monotonous voice resounded in his head and the surrounding soon changed, Now he was in what looked like a large area that spanned for miles.

There were various people gathered here much to his amazement, It seemed no different from reality, all these people were here for the same purpose to enjoy the game called Tower climb either by participating or spectating the matches.

The purpose of the game is to fight with other opponents while honing your martial skills if you had one and it was also a form of acquiring new martial skill suitable for the user, that is if you find someone willing to teach you which was rare, a battle takes place among the participant, and only those that claim 10 straight victory can advance to the next stage but that wasn't the best thing about the game each rise in level will earn you decent rewards ranging from human made weapons to beast soul which is all given at random which makes the game even more unique than others but the only con is that only those that could afford to purchase the game that cost as much as 5million for one could benefit from this which he felt was a shame.

"Oh well let's begin, first to chose an opponent," he said filled with anticipation.

There was no longer any need for him to delay anymore as he opened the system interface and saw two options Guest or Participant, he clicked on the latter.

"Matching up with a suitable opponent, please wait a while," the voice said.

Soon enough his surroundings changed again and he was teleported into an arena with a Timer showing above counting down from 30 secs.

Standing before him was a Youth who didn't bother to hide his features and could be said to be much taller than Timeless, if he were to guess his opponent was probably 7ft tall but what does that matter maybe in the era before Gods domain he could be said to be very powerful but now he was just a mass of big bones.

The Timer soon counted down to 5 with neither of them saying a word so far, just a staredown. As the Timer hit zero the youth got into a battle stance. Timeless only knowing the basic martial arts got into a stance of his own, his purpose observation through battle.

"Come on then!" The youth shouted out at him.

Timeless was ready for this he's been itching to gauge his hand-to-hand combat strength over the years, in the military camp they did basic training and routine spars but none could compare to this kind of situation that would require more than just brute force, agility and speed were what was needed here now. He quickly moved forward dodging the strikes aiming to get behind him and strike his back from the side while also twisting his body using his hips to throw off the boy's balance. As he was expecting his punch to connect the youth twisted his body in an unnatural position dodging the hit but staggering in the process.

As Timeless made his way past the young man following the same motions as before trying to counterattack with some of his own moves. One after another the attacks kept coming, he was fighting in a rather crude manner but he didn't care he was enjoying himself as he constantly striked the youth who was on the defensive with a series of punches and kicks using every part of his body he could use, he managed to land a couple of hits on the youth's arms and legs due to this.

"You're fast..." The youth said. "But you don't know when not to attack." He moved out of the way to dodge another attack from Timeless allowing him to counterattack in the process as he repeatedly struck him. As the youth landed another blow on his chest Timeless was able to turn his head enough to catch the boy's left arm forcing the fist to stop short.

A moment later both fighters were now in a stalemate. Neither one wanting to give up or lose their cool. Both knew they couldn't win through physical means alone. They continued to fight the longer it went on until finally Timeless' eyes caught something.

"A chance" the opportunity he has been waiting for had come, he had been exchanging blows with the youth for so long in order to find a weakness in his movements.

The youth threw a punch at him aiming at his head but this time Timeless was ready as he ducked underneath the attack and threw out a punch to the youth's stomach followed by another punch to his face which left him unable to react as he fell down on the floor in pains.

Knowing his victory was at hand he went towards the youth and said "For the wonderful experience you've given me, I thank you", saying this he punched down at the youth aiming for his head.

He was teleported out of the arena and soon came back to the large area filled with countless people moving about. Recalling the battle he just had a large grin appeared on his face as he opened the system interface preparing for another battle.

He soon found himself in another arena with the Timer counting down only this time his opponent seemed to be an old man who looked even sickly from a glance.

Noticing the weird look he was being given the old man smiled and said "Do you think you have a chance of beating me boy".

Timeless frowned hearing this as he got lost in thought thinking of various possible scenarios and finally settled on one as he muttered "could he possibly be a martial art master?"

The Timer soon hit zero and Timeless soon got into a battle stance as he said "please guide me sir"

The old man slowly walked towards him and stopped at about ten feet away from him where he waited for his opponent to make the first move. Timeless looked at him and started moving forward, the old man stood still and watched.

Timeless attempted to hit him with a straight punch but the man sidestepped which was within his expectation as he smiled and struck out with his legs expecting to catch him with the hit, but to his amazement his strike hit nothing but air.

"How did you do that?" Timeless asked full of confusion.

The old man just laughed and said "I am not going to fight you, so please don't waste your time attacking me" The old man walked towards him saying "You are wasting your time and mine for that matter, I will tell you whatever you want to know but no fighting required."

Hearing this Timeless became excited as he hurriedly bowed and said "please guide me master"

Seeing this the man nodded and said with a smile "It is your great fortune to have met me today boy, how far you can learn depends on you"
