2 I, Amber Murai

I ran,

My legs sprinting against the grassy ground.

My breath was so heavy I could hear the pacing of my heart beat.

Nothing else took priority other than escaping whatever it was I just saw.

Those beings, weren't normal and I wasn't planning to fuck around and find out.

The immediate smile that showed on my face as soon as I saw my bike was priceless, my only means of leaving this place was right in front of me.

Or so I thought.

Before I could even take another step closer, I heard a voice coming from behind me.

"Where do you think you're going?"

The voice asked.

My legs were frozen from the fear, whatever was behind me, definitely wasn't human, the aura alone made my heart beat restlessly.

I knew I had to play it safe, if there's anything being a delivery boy has taught me, that's to always handle customers of all attitudes.

"Uhmm… s..sorry to disturb you, I just wanted to deliver the food that was ordered, I promise I have no other agenda and I definitely didn't see anything."

I spoke, my back still turned to this person.

Silence took over, and not a response was heard from this person, I was starting to think they were no longer there.

But I most certainly can sense their presence.

Am I just tripping?

Thoughts swirled up in my head, so, I decided to take a look just to be safe, and if no one is behind me, I'll take the opportunity and run.

Slowly, I veered around, making sure I turned just enough for the chance to switch back if I happened to see anything.

With my head half turned, I suddenly felt the hand of someone grabbing my hair and the other hand was placed on my cheeks as if trying to clunch me down.

My eyes widened in fear when I saw the person, as I said, it definitely wasn't human.

They had no face, it was like looking at a dead zombie that came back to life, the only difference was, this particular thing looked ten times more dangerous.

"The successor… finally… I see you."

The monster spoke with a terrifying voice, my body strug, hard to believe I was almost at the verge of tears knowing I couldn't do anything at the moment.

"Me deliver… successor."

As soon as it said these words, its mouth opened, wide enough to swallow my whole head in one swooop.

At the moment, the only thing I could think about was not dying, not yet… my mom is still by herself, I still have to take care of my older sister… there's no way I'd die here…

Right?

Even if I convinced myself of these things, there's nothing I can do against a monster like this… I'm just a human, I lack the power needed to beat such a monster.

"Someone… please…" I muttered under my breath, the wet liquid from the monster's mouth dripping on my cheeks,

"Help."

Baaaaaaam!!!

My eyes snapped open,

Another person had showed up, the same maid I saw just a few moments ago at the mansion.

She was mid air, her knees connecting to the jaw of the monster, that was so powerful, the sound of the impact almost ripped my ears apart.

Before I could even tell what was happening, the monster who had me in its grasp on me was flying half way through the forest.

While the maid was standing beside me, need I say I was already on the ground, my head still trying to process what was happening.

"Hey." The lady spoke.

I looked at her.

"Run."

She grabbed me by the collar, and tossed into the forest, my body speeding to the ground.

I screamed, my arms flapping in the air like I expected to be a bird or something.

And then.

It was dark.

I had crashed on the ground, somewhere in the forest, where my whole surrounding was filled with swaps.

At least that was the only thing I was able to make out considering I felt my body getting soaked by water.

'Ahhh… I must be dying.'

I looked to the sky, it was getting dark, the sun was starting to set and the fog had started to settle in.

'Im sorry,.. Yuna.. mom, I don't think I'll be able to make it home… of all the days to leave my phone…'

It's funny, I always pictured myself freaking out during my last moments, but for some reason, the only thing I felt was the guilt of leaving my family behind.

Perhaps this is what I always wanted…

"My beloved."

From nowhere, the voice of a lady echoed in my ear. I was still too weak to fully open my eyes, but right in front of me was a woman, her figure blurry.

"I'm glad I get to see you, I.. also don't have much time left, that said… I should be able to help you."

She said,

"You might not like this, but, with time, I'm sure you'll come to accept it, you are the successor, that is a faith you can't run from, but knowing you… I don't think I have much to worry about."

'W…what is she talking about? Knowing me? Do I know this woman?'

"Everything I own, is yours to use, I Amber Murai, here by transfer my possession to my beloved…."

Pluuuuks!

Whatever it was, something was forcefully pulling my heart out, even though I was half unconscious, I could still feel the pain.

And it hurt even more when I couldn't muster up the strength to scream,

Just when it felt like I was able to end everything, a new feeling set in.

It felt like she plunged something else where my heart used to be, new blood flowed in my body, I was feeling every sense in my body at once.

Anger, happiness, lust, depression, greed, everything feeling you can talk off, I felt it, and it was too much for me to bear.

That was how I blacked out, the last thing I heard was the sound of a girl calling out the name Lady Amber, Lady amber, all over again.
