4 Can you tell me what I am?

"Please wait here…The lady will be with you in just a bit." The maid spoke, standing at the entrance of the room while I walked in.

I was dressed in newly ironed clothings, something of a black trousers and a red t-shirt with just the right amount of perfume oozing from it.

After the incident that happened while I was in bed, the woman who happened to be the lady of the house offered me a bathhouse to freshen up with new clothes.

It's not like I fully trust them, that's far from it, infact, if anything I'm terrified, these people don't seem normal, not the house, not the workers and definitely not the lady I was about to meet.

On my way here I ran into two other women, and I don't know if this has anything to do with my unexplained change, but unlike the maid, I couldn't sense anything from them, which was weird, cause even humans have a unique aura they give out.

In any case, speaking to this woman might help me understand what's going on, it's either that, or I risk pouncing on someone again.

I waited.

Sitting in the empty room that was only occupied by the strange art on the wall and the blue haired maid still standing at the same spot.

Just when I thought this woman was taking her time, the sound of the door opening echoed in my ears.

"Good morning Milady." Greated the maid as she bowed her head.

"Rose… you seem to be glowing more than normal".

"You jest Milady."

While they were communicating behind me, I couldn't help but steal a glance, surely it was the woman I was waiting for.

Upon first glance, I could instantly tell she wasn't normal, just as I thought, somehow, she looked even more intimidating than the first time I saw her in the room.

Her beauty on the other hand was something else, she had long silver hair, red enticing eyes and was wearing a very expensive dress, with a veil that fell to the ground.

Suddenly, she turned her gaze towards me. For some reason, she seemed surprised at first, but was quick to brush it off with a smile.

"Leon Crimson."

She called my name with a slight amusement, before walking past the chair I was sitting on and settling down on the chair opposite me.

Her legs were crossed and her fingers locked as she smiled,

It was then I felt something in my chest, it was like butterflies were filling my inside, I was getting flooded with happiness but at the same time, my mind knew something was wrong.

"You look even more handsome in person."

"T-Thanks?"

"Haha." The lady laughed, "Don't tell me such simple words made you bashful?"

Why is she joking like I didn't just try to kill one of her workers?.

'Don't think about that… just ask her what you need to know, how did you end up here….'

"Uhm .. Excuse…Miss Lady…"

"Amber."

"..."

"You can just call me Amber." She uttered, a bright smile on her face as she looked directly into my eyes despite how far apart we are.

"Right… Amber, I'd appreciate it if you kept it one hundred percent real with me… How did I end up here?" I asked.

"Oh my? Is that really all you want to know?" Amber replied to me, now resting her jaw on her fist,

"You don't want to ask the important questions? Like why you suddenly got the urge to drink blood? Or the fact that right now, you can hear the heartbeat of every person in this building?".

So I was right, she does know something, good.

"Please tell me, what happened to me? All I remember was making a delivery and then suddenly waking up blood thirsty… Was I drugged?" I threw my questions at her.

"Have you ever heard of vampires… Mr leon?" She asked me.

Obviously everyone has heard of vampires, even kindergarteners know what they are, but they are just folktales, figments of the human imagination.

That's what I'd like to think.

But after what I saw and how I also acted, I'm inclined to deny my thoughts, for now, I'll just listen and let her explain.

"Yes, yes I have." I replied.

"Good, I'm surprised you do, the world of the supernatural isn't well known to humans, at least on face value." Amber chuckled a bit, "But since you do, you should have pieced it together, haven't you?".

I don't like where this is going, for some reason, my heart began to race as soon as Amber pointed at me.

"You're no longer human, you are… now a vampire."

"I am…. A what? I don't remember ever getting bitten…"

As I uttered, I immediately began searching my body for any signs of bite marks, if I was truly a vampire as she claimed, there should be some bite marks that prompted my transformation, right?!.

"You won't find it … cause you were never bitten to begin with."

I paused when she spoke, my eyes soley fixed on her at the point,

"Then why did you …"

"The heart of a progenitor is quite different from a normal heart, it's our source of energy, most vampires don't have a heart, but we do."

She continued,

"Just as we are able to get a heart after becoming a progenitor, we are also bound by the law of attraction, meaning our heart yearns for the one to embrace it… in other words, progenitors are bound by their soulmates".

"Wait… what are you talking about?".

Amber stood up and began walking towards me,

"You happen to be my soul mate, I have been keeping a close eye on you for years, ever since your birth into this world… and when the chance came, and I knew it was for the best… I gave my heart to you …"

She leaned forward once she was in front of me, her hand resting on the chair's armrest and her face extremely close to mine.

My heart raced once more, so much I almost found it hard to breathe.

"And it's only because of that, were you able to survive after dying… Do you understand? You, Leon Crimson, and I, Amber Murai, are connected to one heart…"

"Hold one… I'm trying to .."

She placed her hand on my cheeks,

"One soul, one life, one destiny, and nothing can separate that".

Slowly, it was starting to make sense, this… this world I've found myself in… this woman in front of me…

Screams hell.
