MWB CHAPTER 2: The Officers

Nothing else could be heard in the basketball court except for our heavy breathing.

We just finished playing and now we're catching our breath while lying down on the floor.

Suddenly, the bell rang, signaling that it's already lunch time. That means the basketball club members might arrive here in just a few minutes.

"Whose turn is it to buy lunch?" I asked, panting

To avoid being seen by professors and be caught in a conversation that starts with "Oh, I didn't see you in the class earlier.", we decided to take turns in buying lunch. It's easier to hide when you're alone.

"Mine, I think." He answered, also panting

"Okay. Let's head to the locker room, change clothes, and meet at the rooftop."

We then stood up and walked to the locker room, just like what I said. We spared each other a look, before going in our designated locker rooms.

I unlocked my locker and changed into a new set of uniform.

I always make sure to have a new set of uniform in my locker, in case Theo and I decide to have an exciting adventure. In today's case, we decided to play basketball. I lost, by the way. He did not went easy on me.

After successfully changing, I closed my locker and went outside.

I didn't wait for Theo because I don't even know if he's still changing or not. It's not like I can go inside the boy's locker room and check.

And so, I just walked upstairs to the rooftop on my own.

This is where we usually eat lunch. There's a covered area here, so we don't get too hot because of the sun.

The view is quite nice too. You can see the trees and mountains from afar. It's a good place to have some fresh air.

While enjoying the scenery, I sat and on the ground and laid my back on the wall. Why can't life be always this nice?

I sighed, but I decided to not get too drowned on the negativity inside my head and just closed my eyes, feeling the peacefulness.

Not long after, the door opened and footsteps followed. Seems like Theo is here.

Why does the footsteps sound like he's not alone though?

I opened my eyes and I got my answer. He is indeed not alone.

"Well, hello Thea."

That's Mason Wright. The President of Student Council. He's an annoying righteous guy.

"I heard your parents are back in town, are you sure you should be skipping while they're here?"

And that's the Vice President, Venelope Anson. She's not righteous or anything, just plain annoying.

And why the hell does everyone know that my parents came back?!

"Sorry Twin, they said they'll contact our folks if I don't bring them to you." Theo apologized

"Yeah, we did say that." Mason said, smirking

I don't like that smirk. Never have.

"Are you gonna keep your word?" I asked

"Of course I am." He answered, but still smirking. "Though, we came here with a goal."

"And that is make a good student out of you." Venelope added

Now she's also smirking. I could tell that she's enjoying this.

"Shush, Venelope." Mason unexpectedly scolded her off

The embarrassment in her face was so satisfying and funny. I would've laugh if the situation wasn't like this.

"We're here to negotiate with you, Thea." Mason said and sat in front of me. "We need you to start behaving like a good student."

"And what benefits will that give you?"

He leaned closer, causing me to flinch and lean back, until my head is against the wall.

"Calm down, I won't bite." He smiled. He continued leaning towards my ears and whispered, "You and the bad boy there have been causing a lot of work for the Student Council. Countless of complaints and records. So if you do us a favor and stop being such a rebel, I'm sure your boyfriend will also change."

"First of all, he's not my boyfriend." I whispered back and heard Theo click his tongue

"Mr. President, aren't you invading too much of her personal space?" He intrigued, but Mason didn't bother paying any attention to him

"Second," I continued and pushed him. "Theo's right. There's no need to be that close."

He chuckled. "Okay, I'm sorry. But what do you have to say about my offer?"

"Offer?" I raised an eyebrow. "How is that an offer when I get nothing out of it?"

"Oh, you will." He immediately answered. "If you do what I just told you, then I won't send your records to your Dad."

I laughed at him.

"That means if I don't do it?"

"I'm pretty sure you already know the answer to that."

I laughed even more. As if Dad will actually check whatever he sends. If it's not business related, then Dad will just ignore it.

"Okay, go ahead. Knock yourself out." I told him, still laughing a bit. "Let's go Twin, I'm so hungry."

I stood up, and the two Student Council officers were looking at me as if I lost my mind.

"Do you understand the situation that you're in?" Venelope asked in an annoyed tone

"It's you two that don't understand how my Dad's mind works." I answered and they just looked at me with confusion

In the end, Theo and I just decided to eat outside the school's premises. Good thing that there's a lot of fast food chains around our school.

"Hmm, I think I want some McDonalds." Theo said, but there was something off in his voice

"Are you okay? Is there something wrong?" I asked in an instant

"Yeah." He smiled. "I'm just thinking."

"About what?"

"What if we stop skipping?"

I froze at his thought. Suddenly?

"What do you mean? We were just having fun earlier."

"I know, I know." He answered. "And we can still have fun without skipping class, you know? Like after school, or weekends."

I still don't understand why he's suddenly like that. I didn't speak anymore and just remained silent.

"You know what? Forget about it, sorry." He said and chuckled awkwardly

After that conversation, I realized one thing. I still don't know Theo that well.
