"Alita, come on you can do it, give another push". A man in his forties was by his wife at the hospital. A mixture of happiness and worry could be seen on his face. His hair was messy and was wearing casual clothes. If one looked closely, one could notice that stress was taking a toll on him. Dracul had rushed as fast as possible on hearing that today was the one that his wife was going to bring a new life into this world.

As for Alita, she was lowering her eyebrows, squeezing her eyes, and wrinkling her nose trying to mutter her last bit of strength.

Surrounding her bed, five medical personnel was present. Normally only two personnel was required, but in a situation like this, there were only two possibilities.

Either they were rich or her condition was so unstable that she needed every expert possible.

Unfortunately, it was the second possibility. She was being kept alive through machines and one person was pressing her hand on Alita's chest.

The personnel was an ability user, able to provide strength to someone she touch. Seeing all these doctors and nurses, Darcul knew deep in his heart that her wife's situation was life-threatening.

They already had a child and it went smoothly. This one was also supposed to be without danger yet all this was because of those monsters. Those damn monsters.

10 years ago, they came to earth. Demanding humans to submit to them. The monsters were stronger, some could fly and they had better technologies. Humans' weapon was proven to have little effect on them during our first retaliation. These monsters was Dalki.

Dalki was a humanoid monster, they had scales all over their skins. Their two distinctive characteristics were a dragon-like tail and a spike on their back.

After various confrontations, it was noticed that an increase in the number of spikes meant a more powerful enemy. When all hope was lost, a group of people, "the original" came forward to defend humanity. Some had the power of lighting while other was able to control fire. Together, humans began to fight back and a major breakthrough was achieved when one of their airships was captured by humans. Scientists were quickly brought together to try to find out the mechanism of such technology.

Inside the spaceship, portals and crystals were found. One particular scientist, Richard Eno was able to grasp the technology. The portal helped to traverse other planets that contain many beasts. Inside them came those crystals. The beast crystal was used to make armor or weapon which gave humans an advantage in the fight against dalki.

With the war still ongoing, every adult was required to defend the earth.

Dracul and his wife Alita were no exception. Being side by side during every fight, the duo was able to create great achievement on the battlefield until one day they came face to face against a two-spike dalki. Even with their beast weapons and the help of other humans, killing the dalki was an unreachable goal.

One of the special traits of the dalki was the more injuries they got, the stronger they became. It may sometimes even lead them to evolve to higher spike numbers.

Over ten humans had sacrificed themselves during that fight bringing the draki close to death. Darcul and his wife were among the remaining five still alive. Fearing that the dalki would evolve, Darcul decided to go offensive and with a huge boost in agility from the beast weapon, he was able to avoid all the punches from the monster.

Irritated, the dalki switched opponents, and launch a punch to the next closest human which was nonother than Alita.

The punch had propelled her five meters away from her original position. Fueled by anger, her husband Darcul series of slashes from his sword bring an end to the monster.

Quickly transporting Alita to the medical camps, a healer ability user was assigned to her. That when the news came, she was 3 months pregnant.

That event was 5 months ago. Since then Alita was hospitalized and her condition was extremely critical. It seems that during that fight, a drop of blood from the dalki had entered her body and was preventing Alita from recovering. On top of that, her body had to nurture the baby.

With a final push, Alita felt the baby was out. A sigh of relief escaped her mouth. On the side, her husband was crying which was a rare sight. She could feel that her life was at its end but knowing that her baby was born, brought her to nine heavens.

That's when she noticed the panic state from the doctors. Darcul saw his wife's expression darken and her body was stunned.

"The baby, no no why is this happening, why is the baby not crying.." Alita started agitating, trying her best to get up to get close to her baby.

"Mister Talen, get a hold of your wife. Not all babies cry when they are born. It does not mean that there is something wrong with the boy. Congratulations Mrs. Talen, you got yourself a baby boy. I'm sure one day he will be a great man". The female ability user who still had her hand on Alita's chest comforted Alita with those words and it seem to have an effect. Alita laid back and looked at her husband.

"Abraham, I wish to name our baby Abraham. Both of us know that I have little time left, and you had been a great husband, I'm sure you will be able to look after our two sons. Can you bring Albus here, I wish to speak to him". Even though Darcul was listening to his wife, his eyes were still fixed on the door where the doctors had taken the baby. Alita may have felt relieved from the word of the female user, but Darcul was able to notice the looked of worried still present from the doctors.

"Dear, are you listening, bring our son Albus here". Alita spoke again as she saw her husband still by her side.

This time Darcul went outside the operation room and on a bench, a boy could be seen. His son was under a lot of stress with how his legs were shaking nonstop. Albus was a 12-year-old boy with spiky black hair. Taking him inside, Darcul went next to his wife with their first son.

After several minutes of talks, Alita closed her eyes for the final time. A nod from the nearby nurse confirmed to Darcul the painful truth. At that moment, Dracul seem to have no more will to live wanting to give up but he had to remain strong for his two sons. Especially for Albus who was in a lot of pain to the loss of his mother.

After many hours, Dracul was called to meet the doctors of baby Abraham. The news was devastating. It crushed the already tiny morale of Dracul to its lowest. The baby was being kept alive through machines. It seems the blood of dalki also affected the baby. The baby kept losing consciousness. The doctors announced with a heavy hearts that the baby will not live for long.
