94 94. A different quest

As Pele was unable to produce more blood attacks and started feeling hunger, his reaction and concentration on the fight diminished drastically. In the moment of weakness, the Furry hounds jumped at him without the latter being able to defend himself. Panicking, Pele did not know what to do.

The hound's mouth was wide open and its long tongue was about to reach Pele. Just then, instead of having his own face getting injured, Pele saw a fist crushing against the hound's head. Black blood started to spew everywhere.

Pele found frozen at that moment. He had made a beginner mistake and was very near to paying the price. Standing next to him was Gwen who had come to his rescue.

Looking at the scene, Abraham knew that this was going to be hard on Pele. But it was required to make him learn the hard way. Abraham could easily use his blood attack to kill all the basic beasts in a few seconds, but he wanted the group to become strong on their own and won't become reliant upon him.

"After gaining the blood ability, you should not forget about your Qi and martial arts training that you have done. While blood attacks are great, you should use them with caution depending on your situation. Now get your focus back on the fight." Abraham commended.

Listening to Abraham, Pele started using only basic attacks. He would evade and then proceed to launch an attack. Abraham also ordered Julia to go fight by the side of Pele.

The fight went on for minutes and the fatigue was building up on them. They had already killed more than ten furry hounds but the number seemed to increase as more keep coming from the abandoned houses.

Just then something strange happened.

Both Pele and Happy noticed that the furry hounds had ceased their attacks. Instead, they didn't run away but stood there at the edge of the street next to the buildings, growling.

"Why aren't they attacking?" Pele asked panting from the constant fight.

"That is something I would like to know the answer to as well," Julia replied. By instinct, they all turned to look at Abraham expecting the latter to know the reason. Instead of talking, Abraham pointed toward a corner.

On closer inspection, it seemed like the dogs were no longer looking at them, instead, they were facing the street, looking out towards the tower in front of them.

"They are shaking," Happy said. "The beasts, I can tell they're scared."

From the street, the sounds of footsteps could be heard. Whatever was coming towards them was frightening the beasts even more. Because with each footstep, it looked like the beasts were pulling back slightly until finally all of them were out of sight.

Finally, the figure was starting to come into view. From out of the shadow between two houses, a dark outline could be seen, It had a human outline shape but it was still hard to make out. Still, Happy was sure of one thing, it was clear that it wasn't human... it was a beast.

"What is that thing?" Pele said, trembling.

Throughout history, whenever a beast that had a humanoid shape was discovered, it would at least be at the king tier level or above. There were still beasts that were at this level that didn't have a humanoid shape, but a humanoid-type beast has never been lower than a king tier.

Although it had an outer human shape, it was a bit on the larger end, it stood around eight feet tall. Its body was twisted and strange as if it was made of mud and rocks and at the top where its head should be. The muscle structure of the creature was outlined with plant roots. While the rest just looked like a mound of mud. What was frightening about it though, was in the upper mound part of its body. Several human skeletons could be seen half sunken into its body and half sticking out. A skull, a rib cage, and other parts as well.

It was as if the beast had been made from all the parts around it. Finally, on its too-long arms, there were no fingers as such. Instead, they were long and sharp like a blade. From the forearm downward, it looked like the mud tree-like material changed into a harder substance. The blades shined green in color like a hard jade.

Abraham glanced at the beast, which had halted its advance and now stood in the middle of the street.

[King tier beast: Likmorn]

While the others were observing the humanoid beast, they did not see the smile that form on Abraham's face.

"Robert, you will be the one facing it alone," said Abraham.

Robert immediately agree but by the side, Gwen started complaining about her worry. "Abraham, this is a king-tier humanoid beast. Please let me fight by Robert's side." she pleaded.

Before Abraham could respond, Robert himself answer in his place.

"Gwen please, let me fight this. I need to become better. And don't worry, we have Abraham by our side. Someone who came unscattered from fighting a demon-tier beast." on saying so, Robert started walking on the road in the direction of the beast.

The Likmorn beast placed one of its bladed hands in front of the other and scraped them against each other. A slight screeching sound could be heard as the beast continued to do this process.

When Robert was in range, the beast swung down its blade hand. Using all his strength, Robert swung both his fists together like a tennis racket.

As the hands met with the side of the blade, there was a clear winner. The blades were knocked away, but Robert hadn't budged. It was the first time something like that happened to the beast. The Likmorn loved challenge thus whenever there was a fight, it would try to decrease its strength to match its opponent. But it seemed that it had wrongly judged Robert.
