10 It's the least you can do

Seraphina was dumbfounded at Lucian's words and so was Adrian. Lucian snatched the file off his hands before walking back into his office and Adrian ragingly stormed out of the room.

Gabriel looked at Seraphina who was still dumbfounded before following Lucian into the office.

Seraphina wondered what he meant exactly by enjoying what Asher had left? She couldn't believe she was their center of discussion for a minute and she didn't understand a word they just said, how it made any sense at all.

Seraphina sat at her desk all day, trying to get some work done when her phone started to buzz like crazy. She picked up the phone, looking at the caller's ID before her mood changed. "What is it?"

"What is it? Is that how you will greet me after weeks of not speaking to each other? And you even have the audacity to call off your engagement with Asher, despite knowing how beneficial that wedding between both of you will be." A feminine voice boomed angrily on the other side of the phone.

"I am at work right now and I don't have time for this, Aunt Mirabelle." She tapped her fingers against the table impatiently, waiting for the woman on the other side of the phone to get done with her trouble.

"Meet me in the bar this night by nine. I will make life hell for you if you come late or decide of avoid me." She threatened before hanging up. A sigh escaped Seraphina's lips as she dropped the phone on the table, running her hands through her hair in frustration.

"Why can't you bother another person but it has to be me." She gritted her teeth in anger before continuing her task but her head was all over the place.

"Seraphina, to my office." Lucian's cold voice from her office phone which sent chills down her spine. As she stepped into the office, she almost got hit be a file which cam flying straight to her.

"If you desire to keep your job, Seraphina, try to get the numbers straight. This trash you just submitted to me is all messed up." He thundered angrily and the whole room boomed along with his voice. "I separate work from every other thing, Seraphina. If you are interested in ruining it for me, you can find your way out of my company immediately."

Seraphina hurriedly bent down, picking the papers all across the floor. "I am very sorry, sir. I will run the numbers again and submit them to you." She bowed with trembling hands before rushing back out of the office.

Lucian sat back in his chair with a sigh. He was used to always yelling at any of his workers for doing something wrong but now he didn't know why he was feeling bad because he just yelled at her. "Dang, what's wrong with me?" He slammed his fist against the table and it almost cracked.

Night came and Seraphina just sat at her table, going through everything one last time before emailing it to Lucian. He had left the office a long time ago and she had peace to work without his choking aura leaking out of his office. She wondered why he was always annoyed and couldn't be at least happy for once.

She looked at the time and realized it was almost time for her meeting. She hurriedly rushed out of the office after arranging everything in its rightful place.

"Jenna are you working tonight's shift?" Seraphina asked over the phone as she got out of the taxi.

"Yes I am." Jenna replied before hanging up. As Seraphina walked into the bar, the first person she set her eyes on was her aunt, sitting comfortably in the midst of me, smoking from her hookah.

Seraphina walked uncomfortably over to her and as soon as her aunt saw her, she dropped the pipe in her hand. "You have a lot of explaining to do, young woman." She stood up, grabbing Seraphina by the ear before dragging her out of the bar.

"Is that not Seraphina?" Gabriel said to Lucian who was quietly sitting at his corner, sipping his alcohol and looking round the bar from time to time.

His eyes darkened as he watched the lady drag Seraphina out behind the bar. He slammed his cup on the table and it shattered instantly.

"Let go of me, I can walk on my own." Seraphina gritted her teeth, trying hard to free herself from her aunt's grip. As they got out, Mirabelle hit her hard.

"How dare you try to put us in the mud. After everything we did for you and your filthy mother to stay with my good for nothing brother." Mirabelle scoffed.

"Stop acting like you did anything. I am staying with my father because he is my father and I do not mind taking care of his health at all." Seraphina snapped, making Mirabelle laugh like a maniac as she removed the cigarette in her mouth.

"Do not forget when you didn't have any job to pay for his bills, I paid for them. The least you can do is to get back to Asher, get married to him and pay us back with lots of money monthly."
