19 Chapter 19

Taming monsters here in Danmachi was fucking weird and no other way could describe it. As the process in which an adventurer tamed a monster was the process in which you first started by cuckolding the dungeon of control of said monster via 'dominating' the monster to fill it with your 'intent' to the point that its empty instinct-driven mind was filled with your own will instead of the dungeons will to kill all sentient life on Genkai.

So profound was the process in which a monster was tamed, that there was a literal stupidly clear proof of the monster being tamed which was the usual dungeon monster's glowing red eyes turning glowing blue. All monsters had glowing red eyes. All of them, with only tamed monsters or Xeno's not having the glowing red eyes so it was very easy to tell the difference.

Most adventurers who bothered to tame a monster went about it in several ways. The most common and simple one... Simply tie up the monster, take a stick, and beat it half to death while taking breaks to force its head into the ground to submit to you while pressing your mind at it. That method obviously works... Surprisingly well, but only on the more hardy monsters that can take the torture, but for weak fragile monsters like the Blue Papillio that I wanted to snag, I had to use another approach.

But before we could capture any amount of Blue Papillio that were flying around the pantry healing monsters that came in to eat of the pantry's monster sap. We needed to get past the horde of monsters within the pantry, to say nothing of the squads of adventurers that were holding tunnels with shield walls to slowly grind away at the monster horde within the pantry.

"How do we catch the oversized fragile flying butterfly?" I muttered as I realized that roughly catching them could actually cripple the monster as I knew insect wings were rather fragile.

So after a moment of thought Tina whispered. "Why don't we fight through the monsters and collect some of the sap? Maybe you can fuse it with some monster bait to make some super monster bait... And then we can mount it in like a box off the ground so only Blue Papillo and other flying monsters can get it." Tina spoke and I blinked at the thought.

Doing the mental gymnastics... I realized she was right and it was a pretty good idea, monster bait wasn't even illegal nowadays as the Zeus and other high-level Familia's would often do Endurance training missions where they would have lower-level adventurers train their endurance by fighting hordes of lower-level monsters with only their bare hands.

I patted Tina on her shoulder as I said seriously. "That's a good idea, Tina," I said giving her props for a good idea as I took a deep breath and then exhaled before smiling wryly. "Alright then, let's get in the shit then," I said feeling my adrenalin kicking in as my body instinctively knew I was going to do something... Fucking stupid in all reality.

In all reality, floor seven monsters weren't too large, nor difficult to kill with thick armor or whatnot. With only the Killer Ants being kinda an exception in having some an exoskeleton as ants were want to do.

So what did I use to wade out onto the battlefield of trash mobs that I looked down upon for being a superior human? I embraced mass slaughter and took out the cursed weapon I swore would never fill my hands. I swore an internal oath that this world was not ready for this terrible tool of suffering.

Tina dragged two trashcans with wheels on them behind me, fully ready to grab as much sap as she could via a snow shovel she had in one of the trashcans as I went to work clearing the monsters with ease.

As I held the most terrible weapon devised in video game history. I swung the Rivers of Blood, Odachi in wide sweeping slashes that sent razor-sharp lines of solid blood that bisected monsters in the way of the wide-spread slashes. Unlike in Eldin Ring... These bastards couldn't roll between dimensions to become immune to damage or avoid attacks, so each swipe of the oversized katana killed a dozen monsters in the heavily overcrowded Pantry.

Even the other adventurers noticed our actions and weren't at all happy as one dude yelled out. "Hey! Go kill monsters on a higher floor asshole!" He yelled seeing how I was clearly using some magical fuckery to mass slaughter the monsters but I just ignored him as I realized the River's of Blood sword was actually getting stronger with the blade's blood projections getting larger and reaching farther as more and more blood from the dead and dying monsters filled the surroundings.

I tried to directly get the Blue Papilios to try taming them, but my theory about their absurd fragility was correct as even when I tried to just cut off a wing to bring them down to the ground via the blood projections, they would literally fucking die just by colliding with the ground from a five-meter or so fall with their seemingly boneless forms not taking the impact on the ground with any amount of control.

So Tina's capture idea seemed like the best idea even further. Though such proof of their fragility was a good reminder of why no one bothered to tame the monster despite the great cost of potions and such.

But who knows... Maybe one day I could fuse and make my own Mothra.

Either way, we continued cutting through the monster's with Tina occasionally stopping and using her spear to cut down the monsters that came behind us as we slowly closed the couple hundred-odd meters gap that led to the pool of sap in the middle of the pantry.

But as Tina got the sap into the trashcans and I threw the sap-filled trashcans in my inventory/fusion space, I frowned as I felt a throbbing headache come to me as I realized I was running dangerously low on 'Mind' or magical energy here in Danmachi. "Come on Tina, let's get out of here!" I said as I took in the monster's filling back into the Pantry and then it happened.

That dude who yelled at me previously yelled again with his team's shield wall parting so he could move past. "You asshole! You ruined our system for the day, hope you like a fucking monster feast!" He roared and then he threw a large glass vial thing at us that broke a few feet from us that exploded into a mist of pink fumes and mist that spread several meters quickly as it seemed whatever was within the flask was heavily pressurized.

"Jake, we gotta run, that's condensed Killer Ant pheromones!" Tina hissed and as all the Killer Ants in the vicinity stopped literally from trying to force their way past shields to get at another adventurer the first thing I did... Was fucking memorize that asshole's face. I was going to get him for this.

Tina and I may have slowed down their farming, but we didnt harm anyone or make it more difficult. But trying to summon a horde of further order summoning monsters on us... That was beyond malicious and being a dick. He clearly wanted us dead. And I wasn't going to let that slide.

So even as Tina and I began to desperately fight our way through the coming horde of ants with Tina fully diving into her Blood Rage, I made sure to get even, as I threw a general monster bait at them while we continued fightning.
