1 Surprise

Waking up and getting ready early in the morning, Maru feels that it's a very special day. Excited to surprise her boyfriend or the guy that she thinks is the one she will marry one day.

Yes, she thinks he's the one for her. Irvin is a good looking nice guy. He's a branch manager of a company that they both work for. While Maru is a regular employee.

While getting ready, Maru thought happily to herself. "time flies so fast, it feels like it was just not long ago when I agreed for Irvin to court me. Who would have thought that we're in a relationship for more than 3 years now?

Irvin had his birthday party with his friends and colleagues the night before and Maru couldn't make it so she decided to surprise him in his apartment early in the morning.

  It's not the first time that Maru's doing things like this and she doesn't know if it's just because of the excitement but she's a little too nervous.

Holding a cake in her hand that she ordered at a known bakeshop she went straight to his apartment. She sneakily went in with the spare key that he gave her so she could come and go whenever she wants.

Putting the cake on the coffee table, Maru looked around the apartment.

She's not really surprised to see a lot of things scattered everywhere

This is one of the things that they have in common. Messy.

She thought that it was all normal. Until she looked at the things scattered everywhere closely. A man and a woman's clothes on the floor. Looking back at the doorstep, there was a woman's shoes. And it couldn't be her shoes because she never liked wearing high heels.

 All of a sudden she couldn't figure out what's going on. It's like her brain had a short circuit. She just stood there wondering.

Am I in the wrong place? WTF???

She began to think of a lot of possible scenarios.

Thoughts of him being with another woman made her tremble. Maru have no idea of what to do next. But she should confirm everything herself.

"Irvin, I swear if you dare cheat on me you're dead!

Never in her wildest dream that she would be in a situation like this in her life. A situation where she do not know what to do.

  She imagined lots of things she might do if she catch him red handed. She was lost in her own thoughts she didn't know when she started to walk towards his room.

She stopped infront of the door and looked down on the thing that she stepped on. Its a bra and it's red. Maru smiled bitterly. The size is bigger than hers.

  With a trembling hand Maru reached for the doorknob. Pushing the door open she walked inside quietly. A red underwear on the floor near the bed. God knows how heartbroken she is at the sight of her own boyfriend sleeping soundly with another woman in his arms. What transpired after he partied was pretty obvious.

The woman is no stranger to her. Naya Rivero. She can identify the woman even if she couldn't see her whole face. Who wouldn't know her? She's the only daughter of the vice-president of the company she works for.

Her chest began to tighten and she suddenly couldn't breathe properly. It's like thousands of needles pricked her heart. Tears silently dripping wetting her face uncontrollably.

 Of all the thing's she thought she would do if she caught him cheating, she couldn't do even one of them.

  She felt so insecure. Naya is a pretty woman and is well off. Her family is of high status. And Maru? she's just a small employee. She really can't blame Irvin if he choose to be with someone better.

  She glanced at the two people sleeping in the bed one more time before walking out of the room. This scene, she don't want to forget. It will serve as a reminder for her in the future.

  Maru walked out and took a sit on the sofa. She thought that she is very calm but actually, she's still in the state of shock and feels like she had lost all of her strength. .

 Looking at the cake she left on the coffee table, Maru got a piece of paper and started to write a note. After writing she put it between the ribbon that's carefully tied to the box.

She just sat there motionless. After some time, she reached for her phone and called Vivi. Her friend.

The phone rang for quite sometime before it was picked up.

"Hey babe, how was it? was it successful?, Vivi excitedly asked even before Maru could say anything.

" Babe can you pick me up?, Maru asked softly.

"Huh? Pick you up? Why? Where are you?,

The scene that Maru saw inside Irvin's room went back in her mind and she just feel so lost.

"Something happened...Maru started to sob and couldn't continue what she's about to say.

" Are you crying? Maru what happened to you? Where are you right now? Did something bad happen to you?, oh my god."

" I don't think...I could go home alone, Babe... I feel like... I've...lost all my strength."she said in between sobs.

"Tell me where you are and I will pick you up. Did you had an accident? Do you hurt somewhere?,.hearing her friend crying on the other line made Vivi worry a lot.

" Maru?!!! what? tell me something.,Vivi spoked again in a louder voice after getting no response from Maru except from her sobbing."Don't make me worry like this."

"Babe my chest hurts a lot, I can't think straight. Please pick me up."

"Okay. calm down. First, tell me where you are right now and I am going there right away., Vivi said patiently.

" Im in Irv's place. I just wanna go home.,Maru was like a little kid begging someone to send her home so she could rest in her comfort zone.

"Calm down babe, I'm actually just near that placr. I'll be there in 20 no, 15mins. Give me 15 minutes okay?

" Okay.

She have to calm herself down until her friend Vivi arrive. She just really want to get home and lock herself in her room.

10 mins later, Maru heard the doorbell ring. But it seems that she didn't have the strength to get up. She was hoping that could leave the place quietly without Irvin knowing.

Maru heard the sound of a door opening. And the sound of footsteps slowly coming near her.

Irvin appeared infront of her.

"Maru..Irvin called. It sounded like a whisper..

She looked up to him and she can see the panic in his eyes. Maru smiled bitterly and her tears flowed again. 

" Surprise Irv!,I bought you a cake. Happy Birthday!

"I can explain, Maru please I....let me explain. It's not what you think.

"It's ok Irv,. It's useless to do that now.

He was about to reach her hand when the doorbell rang again, and there was a continues knock on the door.

"Maru-

" Can you please get the door first?

Irvin hesistated for a while and heaved a heavy sigh before getting the door. And Vivi rushed in went straight to Maru.With worry written all over her face.

" Babe are you alright?,maybe because Maru saw someone who is close to her and thinking that she can rely on that person, Maru burst out crying again.

"Oh no, what's wrong? You were still so happy when you left the house. What happened? Huh? Marjana?

Vivi gave Irvin a questioning look, who stood rooted at the door.

"Irvin. What the hell is going on?"Vivi asked angrily when Maru answered her with only hugs and cries.

At that same time, a woman walked out of a room with just a towel wrapped around her. She seems to be flaunting the red marks on her neck.

One look, and Vivi understood what's going on. She hugged Maru and whispered some words to calm her down.

"What the F*** Irvin?!!!,.All of a sudden, Vivi fired. She yelled angrily as though she was the one who got cheated on.

Irvin looked at Maru with pleading eyes. " I will explain, please hear me out."
