"What!" That was the last thing I heard before I took my last breath.

...

"Fuck, why am I still alive?" I mumbled as I struggled to open my eyes.

"Congratulations, you have been given a chance to transmigrate into a new world. You all have caught the attention of the Lord of the underworld and he has given you a second chance because of your good deeds."

"But, first, you will all have to pass the trial given to you by the 'trial' tower and depending on your performance, you would be directed towards a portal of reincarnation. We have different types of portals and each one leads to a different realm so, I suggest you put your efforts into passing the trial."

"Also the special ability you would receive after the trial also depends on your performance in the trial."

"Wait, am I not supposed to be in heaven? His the fuck did I end up in the underworld? I cursed inwardly."

After reading a lot of novels in my past life, I was able to keep my composure when I heard I was going to be reincarnated and all but, why was I sent to the underworld? Was I not good enough in my past life?

*sigh*, I sighed out loud as I accepted my fate.

"Hmm, what was the 'trial' thing you were talking about?" A random guy asked.

"What!" I mumbled silently as I looked around. I was so much worried about myself that I didn't notice the people around me.

Not like it would change anything though.

Also apart from humans, I noticed some people from other races as well.

"Wow!" So vampires do exist, I mumbled as I noticed some dragons as well.

"But, why can't I see any beast kin, dwarves and elves?" I asked myself. Since dragons and vampires were real then why couldn't I see any dwarves, beast kin or elves. Or are only humans vampires and dragons allowed to reincarnate? But, that should-

"The 'trial' tower would be opened in the next one week. Whatever challenges you face inside the tower will be determined by your strength and will."

"And as I said earlier the abilities you receive will be determined by tour performance in the 'trial' tower."

"So till then, make yourself at home," one of the servants of the underworld announced.

"Can we ask questions?" A person from the crowd asked.

"Yes, you can."

"What would happen if we perhaps fail the trial?"

"Well, its almost impossible to fail the trial and the worst case would be you just performing poorly however if you end up failing the trial then, we would have to withdraw your chance to enter the portal of reincarnation."

"So in simple words, you remain dead."

"Curse you," I yelled in my mind.

This plot cliché is starting to kill me. First, I end up in the underworld instead of heaven, next you make me take a trial I was never even ready for like, who the hell does that. I promise to come back for revenge someday if I fail the trial.

...

Finally, after the two hours long briefing, we were taken to our residence which we would be using until we entered the portal of reincarnation.

"What a waste," I mumbled as I walked into my room. After the briefing, all I could just think about was getting stronger.

Although I knew the reason I was feeling like this was probably because I was scared of failing the trial.

Back on earth, I died during a raid in my city. Although I might have been able to save myself by running away or looking for someplace to hide in, I didn't.

Rather, I decided to fight the rebels alongside the army and before I knew it, I ended up in this place.

Why am I thinking about this now, I mumbled as I shook my head to get rid of all my thoughts. Right now, I really need someone to train me. I need someone to teach me everything about combat and if not everything at least just the basis of combat.

Although, I knew I couldn't learn everything about combat in a week, I still decided to learn since it would be better than knowing nothing at all.

And as for who the person that would train me, I decided to seek help from the vampires.

First, dragons may have high combat knowledge but, they might not be really friendly to a human and as for humans, I couldn't meet them because their knowledge in combat would be very little besides, I doubt the strongest human here would be able to defeat the weakest vampire here therefore, my best option is the vampires.

And with that, I set out to find myself a new teacher.

...

"Arrogant bastard," I snorted as I left the residence of a vampire.

For the past few hours, I haven't been able to properly interact with a vampire talk less more of even asking one to train me.

"Why is life so unfair?" I sighed as I sat at a corner.

"You know," I've also asked myself that same question numerous times.

"I kno- how did you get so close to me without me knowing?" I shouted as I turned to the girl beside me.

"Haha, you should have seen your face a few seconds ago. Now you looked really shocked," the female vampire replied.

"Just get lost, I'm not here to make jokes. I seriously need someone to train me even if it's just for a short while."

"Hmm, how about I become your teacher? I'm pretty strong you know," she said with a wink.

"Why would you want to train me?" I asked suspiciously. Although her offer was great, I was still feeling a bit skeptical besides, most people here would just find numerous excuses just to avoid you so there was no way her intention could be pure.

"No reason, I just felt like helping you but if you are against the idea of me becoming your instructor then, I see no reason as to why I should force you."

"Fine, you can be my instructor till I enter the portal of reincarnation," I said. Finding an instructor was really hard and even though I still have my doubts, I decided not to waste this opportunity.

"Alright then."

"So when do you think your instructor should start her lessons?"

Huh, why do we need to delay? We can start now can't we? I replied hastily while she just nodded back at me.
