It was the most beneficial move for the Dons and Gerard was glad that he had spoken to Akujin.

Reading his body language, when he suggested that the Oni might still be alive, Akujin's body momentarily tensed up, even if it was just for a second.

Gerard knew he was right about the money but this wasn't a problem because it showed him that Akujin was allied with this man.

The only reason for that to happen was if they had similar goals, there was no other way that the Oni would ally with him otherwise.
