Chapter 4 Talent Show

As days passed by, everything went to the normal way and all are focused on classes. Then came " College talent show" to give us some fun.

Our class monitor gave an application form and asked us to write the names who want to perform and what we want to perform.

Everyone is discussing and I saw Zhang Feng writing his name and wondering what he wrote. Then Lei came to me and asked me to apply and I said, " no, I'm not interested".

Then Lei shouted to monitor saying, "yang can sing songs while playing guitar, ask her to apply". Then monitor came and asked me to perform and I was like " no, I can't" , actually what he said is true but I am nervous as I didn't perform on the stage before.

I learnt it in summer after my high school. I like it and just used to play for fun. I just played casually once when Chen Lian and others came to my home. And she said to Wang Lei and he was jealous that he didn't see me play.

So he wants to see me perform ,so he kept pushing monitor to make me apply. I murmured to Lei, "I'll kill you". And he smirked and said, " you can't escape" . Then Zhang Feng came to me and said, " yang, just give it a try ,it will be fun".

And then I agreed and took the application form and wrote my name and saw that Zhang will perform piano. I gave back the application form and am thinking how great Zhang Feng is to play both basketball and piano.

Later everyone started preparing for their performance. In the dorm, still three days to the talent show, I was thinking about which song to sing on the stage. Meanwhile Li Bo played music on her iPod and started dancing.

She applied for dancing and she can dance pretty good. As for me, I want to sing english song because I like English songs and Justin Bieber is my favourite singer, but there are many popular songs which is hard to choose.

Finally I picked "Baby" which was Justin's first hit single that was released in 2009. It is my first favourite song that made me attracted to Justin Bieber and his songs.

And I started practicing and the day of the talent show arrived. In the evening, all the participants are in the backstage. I wore a simple outfit of shirt and jeans and left my hair down.

Zhang Feng is also there dressed in a formal outfit of white shirt and pant , as he pushed the shirt into the pant looking neat. The show started and everyone is performing one by one, Li Bo's performance is just over which is third and mine's sixth and Zhang Feng is seventh.

I saw the performance order list and saw that there are different types of performances like dancing, singing, painting, playing different kinds of instruments and many. I am trying to be calm, but I couldn't.

Zhang Feng sat by my side and saw that I am nervous as I am pressing my hands hardly against each other. Then he said to me, " it's ok, don't be nervous, trust me, u will do great".

After he said that, I am supprisingly calm and soon my turn came. Then Feng said "come on" by doing a hand gesture ( "come on" mainly used while encouraging others). Then I smiled and went on to the stage with confidence.

Then I started playing music with guitar and singing "baby". The crowd is large but I am not nervous and sang confidently. When it's over, everyone applauded and I am so happy that I was able to perform on the stage.

Now it's Zhang Feng's turn, I said "come on" and he smiled and went on to the stage and sat before the piano.I am watching him from the side of the stage and he is towards my side, I can see his face clearly and how his fingers are moving on the piano.

He started playing a classic piece which is difficult and not many can play it, he looked so handsome while playing the piano and the white shirt gave the final touch, he is stunning on the stage at that moment when he was performing.

All the girls below the stage went crazy for his performance by cheering his name and applauded and he came to the backstage and I said ," you did great", then he said, "so did you".
