30 Repercussion of disobedience

In the early hours of the morning, Old Man Clinton's mansion was already buzzing with the servants making preparations and decorations for whatnot.

What was going on? Alexa wondered as she made her way towards the entrance.

She went almost unnoticed until she heard Aunt Maya's voice from the side, "Welcome, Madam," just after she said that, the other servants chorused her.

Alexa was startled. She didn't think that after the old man's death, the servants would still regard her. She had seen some wealthy homes where the servants don't respect their madams, especially when the madam does not have a strong family backing. It seem this family is different, she thought.

"Thank you... What is the occasion?" she queried.

"It's Chairman Clinton's funeral today."

"So soon?" she frowned slightly. What was Mr. Wilfred and his children up to? It was not announced on the news, or did she miss it?
