72 Chapter 71: Waking up

"what is that you wanted to talk to me about?" Dominic asked as he and Dr. Cheng made their way too his office.

Dr. Cheng nodded his slightly, "oh Yes, a few things actually, first there was some kid that came along with your son and Michael, I didn't catch his name considering the chaos, but a few of your men has him on guard in the lounge".

"A kid? let the men see to him for now, I'll also ask my parents to see to BoJing in the meantime and what's the other issue" Dominic asked continuing his steps but stopped when Dr Cheng paused abruptly, his facial expression strained as if he had some bad news to relay, Dominic immediately became concerned and asked "is there something your not telling me Doctor".

Dr Cheng Signed and placed his hands in his coat pockets, "Dominic... Kang Lei's deteriorating again, as soon as you left his body started convulsing l gav—-" before Dr Cheng could say anything further Dominic began to run to Kang Lei's room, for the first time in his life he was truly scared.

When Dominic reached Kang Lei's door he suddenly stopped too afraid to enter, too afraid of what he'll discover.

Dominic cautiously pushed Kang Lei's door open and entered with slow steps his eyes immediately going to the man laying on the bed.

Kang Lei's body was slightly shaking and the constant sounds of the machines beeping and flashing the word critical resonated within the room. Without Dominic noticing his alpha pheromones had begun to emanate around the room, the scent was filled with fear and anxiety. His hands trembled as he walked closer to Kang Lei and touched the soft cheeks of his beloved, in a gently yet low voice he spoke to the lifeless body of Kang Lei, "darling am here, am sorry I had to get BoBo... I promised him that he could see you soon... so please, please don't do this... please don't leave us... I promise I'll never let anything happen to you and BoBo again...so please am begging you just fight for us okay". As he spoke a tears fell from his eyes his heart aching with a pain he had never experienced before.

Dr. Cheng whom had stood by the door listening to Dominic, was taken aback having never before seen the great iceman of China cry for another person. As he observed Kang Lei on the table troubled that he will not make it through his ordeal, he saw something shocking, the shaking body of Kang Lei subsided along with the awful sounds of the machines which was all a moment ago flashing red.

Dr Cheng burst through the doors startling Dominic and immediately when to check the machines, "what's this? How is this even possible?" He said as he looked at the reports in amazement. "What is it, what's happening?" Dominic asked panicked thinking Kang Lei was dying before his eyes.

Dr Cheng had an unbelievable look ok his face, "this his amazing, your pheromones he's reacting to your pheromones". Dr Cheng dropped the reports and went to quickly examine Kang Lei.

"His colour is coming back and he's stopped convulsing.... Dominic quickly release more of your pheromones" Dr Cheng ordered an order Dominic didn't hesitate to do as he was told.

within minutes the previously shaking Kang Lei relaxed and he had a soft satisfied expression on his face.

"Doctor will this be enough, what will happen when I leave again" Dominic asked worried but happy.

Dr Cheng's expression changed unwilling to give his diagnosis, "I think it's best for you to Mark him yourself" he said reluctantly.

Without hesitation Dominic coldly said "no, I don't want to Mark him like this, can't we wake him up first? I refuse to do it without his consent".

"We can wait a few days and see how he reacts to your pheromones alone, but your Mark will leave a permanent chemical stamp of your pheromones, plus he'll also benefit from your rapid healing ability so you can leave him alone without worry, but if he doesn't wake up in the next few days, you're marking him" Dr Cheng said firmly, though he fully agreed with Dominic he rather an upset and angry Kang Lei than a dead one.

For the next few days, with Dominic's total love an care Kang Lei's condition improved but he was still unconscious.

At present in the late afternoon Dominic was finally defeated by fatigue after being awake for so many days. Earlier in the morning he had climbed into Kang Lei's bed an wrapped him in his arms then fallen asleep.

Dr Cheng who had not long returned from checking Michael's condition had found the two clinging to each other with Kang Lei's head buried into Dominic's chest, he couldn't miss the opportunity to snap a picture of the two and send it too Dominic's parents, "Mrs Lanxian should be screaming for joy right now" Dr Cheng chuckled putting his phone back into his pocket and turning away from the two to check on Kang Lei's vitals. Dr Cheng was deep in thought when he heard a small voice whisper, "Dominic, your holding me too tight". he swung his head around immediately in the direction of the two to see a half asleep kang Lei trying to release himself from Dominic's strong grip.

Dominic stirred slightly gripping him tighter "hmmm, let me sleep a little longer honey" he mumbled in his full sleep like state.

Kang Lei allowed himself to indulge in the sweet pheromones of Dominic and unconsciously wrapped his arms around him.

Dr Cheng who at first was shocked at hearing Kang Lei speak, soon became annoyed with the twos clear display of affection right before single eyes, "ahem" he cleared his throat loudly making Kang Lei jolted awake, upon realising his awkward position with Dominic he panicked when he thought he saw Dr Cheng's gave him a judgemental look. Kang Lei tried to push Dominic away to no avail and only succeed in getting the man to hold him closer.

Dr Cheng smiled thinking both father and son are too easy to tease, "welcome back mistress, did you have a pleasant sleep" he said looking at Dominic's current hold on Kang Lei.

Embarrassment overtook Kang Lei and even in his fragile state his face couldn't escape the bright crimson red that appeared. He raised his head slightly to looked up at Dominic who still remained fast asleep and his heart began to race, but in that sweet moment the memories of the past weeks began to flood back and his happy moment was severed by the thoughts that he was even more now not good enough for the man whom he laid with.

At that moment Kang Lei wanted nothing more than to escape from there, so he could never witness the disgusted look in Dominic's eyes when he came to know what they had done to him.

As he laid there wanting so desperately to be in the arms of man beside him forever, tears of guilt filled his eyes it truly wasn't fair he thought.

"Mistress are you okay, does it hurt anywhere" Dr Cheng called out pulling him from his thoughts. Kang Lei shooked his head awaking Dominic as he did so, when Dominic opened his eyes he was greeted by two beautiful blue orbs staring back at him, for a moment he looked puzzling at the person before he came back to his senses and a bright smile formed on his lips, "your finally awake" he exclaimed as he hugged Kang Lei burying his face into his nape.

Kang Lei gently push Dominic away turing away his face and avoiding to look the other in the eyes, this made Dominic feel rejected he looked at Kang Lei confused as to why he was behaving that way.

Dr Cheng immediately notice the signs and spoke up on Kang Lei's behalf, "ahem — Dominic why don't I have a word alone with mistress for a moment" he said breaking the awkward atmosphere.

Dominic continued to look at Kang Lei who still refused to look at him, after a short while Dominic finally got up and left the room leaving a heart-broken Kang Lei crying silently.

Dr Cheng sighed and sat at the edge of Kang Lei's bed and in a soft comforting tone he began to speak "mistress, why do you cry?" He asked already figuring out the reason, with all the trauma Kang Lei has been through it would be surprising if he hasn't suffered some form of psychological damage.

Kang Lei continued to keep his eyes lowered and tears flowed regardless of how hard he tired to stop himself.

Dr Cheng continue to speak regardless if Kang Lei wanted to hear him or not, "I know what you must be thinking, but I promise you that Master Dominic his different— you know he spent the past few days and nights awake taking care of you and your son. He's a good man and no matter what he'll never abandon you and your son—- well to be honest you don't really have a choice in matter Dominic's quite the possessive man and once he sets his heart on something or someone you find he treasures it whole heartedly, so if I were you I would reluctantly accept the big headed fool, because he'll follow you wherever you go or decide to do" Dr Cheng said playfully at the end, finally seeing Kang Lei tears subside and a small smile forming at the side of his mouth.

"He might not want us after he finds out what I've done, beside am not worthy enough to stand alongside a person like him" Kang Lei finally whispered dejectedly.

Dr Cheng chuckled "i reassure you mistress you're more worthy than you know, and like I said nothing you do will make the man outside ever reject you, or do you think am lying mistress?" Dr Cheng tried to slightly manipulate Kang Lei.

"No- no- no I dare not imply you're a lier Doctor— I just need some time to think that's all" he replied frantically trying to convince Dr Cheng he believed him.

"Well am afraid time is what you didn't have Mistress. I'll saying it bluntly you where Marked during your time at Mr. Cai Hung's home, and we don't know how you did this but you rejected the Marking, you were at deaths door when Dominic found you and brought you back here. But surprisingly a few days ago after he had returned from rescuing your son, you began to react to his pheromones he was unintentionally releasing. Seeing that you only got some what better after he spent the past days and night releasing his pheromones nonstop, the best option now his to have him Mark you. Dominic refused on the grounds he couldn't do so without your consent, so now that your awake you need to make the decision of whether you will continue suffering or allowing Master Dominic to Mark you as his own". Dr Cheng unloaded to now shocked and bewildered Kang Lei.

For Kang Lei he was more than happy for Dominic to mark him, but his own conscience was making him feel guilty for putting him such a position, he didn't want to hold Dominic in a unwanted relationship. besides from what the doctor has said it looks like he ready owes Dominic so much.
