The Unexpected

*Screech*

The car stopped in front of the huge mansion. Elisa got out of the car and was about to head inside but stopped in her tracks when she saw her Dad's car and an unknown car parked outside.

"Dad's home? And it seems he has company as well. Was someone supposed to visit? Mom never mentioned that we'll be having guests today, neither did Mrs. Williams. Oh well, maybe I was in too much hurry this morning, that could also be a reason" Elisa said to herself.

"Should I go in?...But I'm not ready for guests yet! Mom should have told me so I would've been mentally prepared! Gosh!!" Elisa said to herself, debating whether to go in or not.

"Ma'am? Are you going inside? Should I park the car or do you have some plans?" the chauffeur asked, gaining Elisa's attention.

"Huh? Oh yeah. Please go ahead" Elisa said to the chauffeur as he nodded and left.

"I totally forgot about him....haha, how silly" Elisa said but soon slapped herself.

"Get a hold of yourself Lisa! It's just guests! Not the first time!...but why am I having a bad feeling?" Elisa said to herself.

After a while she managed to convince herself and slowly started to make her way inside her house.

Elisa entered the house with faint steps, wishing not to get noticed by any of the individuals sitting in the lounge but, who were we kidding?

Her room is located upstairs and she has to make her way through the lounge towards the stairs.

Faint voices of people slowly started to get louder with every step.

"Looks like they are having quite a pleasurable talk going there?" Elisa said while hiding behind the pillar.

She peeked a little to get a little idea of who the unexpected guests were.

'It's a couple around my parents' age and a girl around the age of fifteen? Sixteen maybe?. Do I know them? It's my first time seeing them though....I hope no one sees me like this or they'll think I'm a creep!'

Elisa thought while peeking from behind the pillar. But little did she know, a figure was watching her each and every move from the moment she got off the car to what she's doing right now.

'Should I just head back? No Lisa! You can do it! It's just people! But, why are they giving off this strange feeling? They are not mages nor wizards or witches...so what are they? Vampires? Nah...they are not that sociable for being someone's guests. They are not humans either, that's for sure so....what are they?'

Elisa thought while looking at the guests with suspicious eyes and after a one sided-staring contest she came to a conclusion.

"I'll just leave quietly...Yeah, we're not doing this! Not today!!" Elisa said to herself and turned around to leave but little did she notice that her mother had already seen her and was about to ruin her escape plan.

"Oh my, Lisa! You are back!" Mrs. Shizwell said as Elisa got halted in her steps and cursed under breath.

"Shit!...Mother...Why?" she said with a crying face. She slowly turned around only to find every eye on her.

'Gosh, why are you looking at me like that? Stop! Stop Looking!!'

Elisa screamed in her head and replaced the perplexed expression on her face into a sweet smile and headed towards them.

"H-Hello. I'm Elisa. Nice to meet you." Elisa said, greeting the guests with a smile.

"Oh my! This is Elisa? She's so beautiful! Even the rumors can not define her beauty properly! Hello my child, I'm so very pleased to meet you" the lady in an elegant attire said while embracing Elisa in a hug.

"Thank you," Elisa said with an awkward smile.

Mrs. Williams came and took Elisa's bag from her before passing her a small smile, making Elisa confused.

"Lisa, come and sit here," Mr. Shizwell said, patting the seat beside him. Elisa didn't say anything, she just nodded and got seated beside him.

"Hi! I'm Scarlett, you can call me Letti. Um, can I call you sister? Since you are older than me" the girl sitting between the lady and the man, spoke.

She had beautiful black hair, the same as the man and the lady, she had hazel eyes which resembled the man's, whereas the lady had blue eyes.

'That was so sudden but okay...I guess' Elisa thought before nodding her head at the girl's request, making her smile widely.

"And you can call me Mom from now on..." the lady said with a sweet smile, making Elisa frown.

"Well, you can address me as Dad then. I'll be more than happy if you do so" the man said, confusing Elisa even more.

'What are they saying? What's happening? Why aren't Mom and Dad saying anything?'

Elisa thought looking towards her parents who were not even giving her a single glance.

"Why...should I call you-"

"Oh, so silly of me! I haven't introduced them to you yet! Let me tell you." Mr. Shizwell cut off Elisa, making her frown.

She nodded slowly but she was suspicious... very suspicious of her parent's strange behavior.

"This is Samuel Adolphus, my friend and soon-to-be business partner. This is her wife, Charlotte Adolphus. And this cute little girl is their daughter, Scarlett Adolphus, as you already know...." Mr. Shizwell said, pointing at them individually.

Elisa nodded with a smile but one thing made her uncomfortable...the name 'Adolphus'.

"You didn't mention him," Mr. Adolphus said with squinted eyes to which Mr. Shizwell realized his mistake but Elisa was just as before, confused.

"Yeah, I totally forgot about him! I'm sorry" Mr. Shizwell said as the others laughed.

"Who?" Elisa asked her father, who looked at her before placing his hand on her head and said something that made Elisa's whole world stop.

"Andre Adolphus, their son and your soon-to-be husband."

"WHAT?!"

Elisa exclaimed and stood up, making everyone confused.

"What are you saying, Dad? Husband?" Elisa asked with a shocked expression. Her father pulled her down back to her seat and whispered in her ear,

"We'll talk about this later. Right now, stay calm. Okay?"

Elisa just remained silent. Elisa glanced at her Mother for explanation but she was just avoiding her gaze.

"Why are you so shocked, kiddo? James, you didn't tell her yet?" Mr. Adolphus asked.

"No, not yet. I wanted her to meet you all first before telling it to her" Mr. Shizwell said as the others nodded.

"Shouldn't we let the kids meet? They should talk for a while?" Mrs. Adolphus suggested as the elders nodded.

Elisa was just silent the whole time trying to figure out what in the world was happening in this household.

"Yes! Sister! You should go and meet my brother! He is waiting for you!" Scarlett said with full excitement whereas Elisa frowned at her statement.

"Yes yes, He is in your room. You can go meet him." Mr. Shizwell said as Elisa's eye sockets popped out.

"What?! He is in my room?" Elisa asked with her widened eyes as everyone nodded.

"So, you're telling me that there is a whole grown ass man in my room?! That too, my future husband???" Elisa whisper-yelled to her father as he just replied with a 'Yes', making Elisa scoff in disbelief.

After regaining her calm self, Elisa stood up and left towards her room with a storm going inside her head.

'Marriage? Husband? In-laws? What? So sudden? What in the world is going on? My feelings don't mean anything to them? Does my agreement not count? Why Dad? Mom too...'

Elisa's thoughts were going crazy with each forwarding step towards her room. Slowly approaching her room she was now standing in front of her room's closed door, debating whether to open it or not.

She slowly extended her hand, twisted the door knob and slowly stepped inside her room which was not as bright as it usually is.

She entered her room and analyzed it. Soon a figure caught her attention, it was a man.

A well-built body, black hair just like others, beautifully carved features, deep hazel eyes staring out of the window while leaning on the window frame. Elisa was lost in his beauty for a second.

After feeling a presence in the room the man turned his head towards Elisa who was blank at the moment.

"So, you are my soon-to-be bride?" the guy said in his deep husky voice as he stood straight, placing his hands in his jean's pockets.

After hearing his voice, Elisa snapped out of her world and looked at him with a straight face before saying,

"Then you must be Andre, I assume?"

The guy stayed silent for a second and then nodded his head.

Elisa just stood there in silence, observing his facial features. One thing made her really uncomfortable or should we say doubtful?

"Have we met before?..." she asked, looking at Andre, who just let out a chuckle before stepping forward towards her.

"What a cliché way to flirt?" he spoke, extending his steps slowly.

Elisa opened her mouth to protest but closed it soon after, not wanting to argue with a stranger. She stood there with confidence, preparing herself for anything that this guy might do.

Andre kept approaching Elisa as she just observed his moves. Soon the proximity between them decreased.

Andre was about three steps away from Elisa when he suddenly paused, making Elisa frown.

Andre's eyes widened as he looked at Elisa, who was confused at his sudden change of behavior.

"You..." Andre wanted to say something but it seemed as if his mouth declined to cooperate with his brain.

He just stood there staring at Elisa with an unknown expression, Happiness? Guilt? Worry? Love? Surprise?

*Knock Knock*

A knock on the door caught both of their attention. It was Mrs. Williams.

"Lisa? Mr. Andre? The elders are asking for your presence. Please hurry up." Mrs. Williams said and left from there.

Elisa glanced at Andre who was still staring at her. She felt a tingling sensation in her heart.

'What's this? Why is my heart thumping? Ugh! What is this guy?' Elisa thought.

"I know I'm pretty but don't you think it's quite rude to be staring at me this openly?" Elisa said as Andre averted his gaze, making Elisa scoff.

"Let's go," Elisa said before heading out of the room. Andre followed silently. Elisa glanced back at him a little before letting out a small smile.

'He looks like a puppy...'

Both of them went downstairs and all the elders stood up. Both of them stood beside each other as every soul present there awed at them.

"They look so good" "My sister-in-law is so pretty" "They are match made in heaven" and all sorts of comments.

"Okay, now that the kids have also met each other, let's discuss this further next time since it's almost night. We'll take our leave now"

Mr. Adolphus said while Mr. Shizwell nodded and both of them shook their hands whereas the ladies shared a hug.

Elisa and Andre just glanced at each other since they were quite uncomfortable or should we say, only Elisa.

"Okay Elisa, It was so pleasant meeting you. We'll meet next time okay?" Mrs. Adolphus said after hugging Elisa whereas Elisa just passed a smile.

Scarlett also came and hugged Elisa which Elisa returned as well. They were about to leave but Elisa stopped them.

"W-Wait!" She said as they turned and looked at her. She gulped before asking,

"I-If you don't mind me asking, Can you please give me an idea of what you are? I mean, you are not a mage, wizard, human or vampire so-"

"Oh that? No need to hesitate, Of course you need to know what species your in-laws and husband belong to, wouldn't you? Haha" Mr. Adolphus said while laughing as Elisa passed a small smile.

After that, what Scarlett said made Elisa's whole world crash in milliseconds...

"We are Werewolves..."
