CHAPTER ONE THE BATTLE BEGINS
Am reading a book in the garden when a memory flashed before my eyes .
I saw him kissing, touching her breasts ,caressing my best friend. I thought he loved me but he didn't ,never again will I fall for a man. Love makes people weak but not me."mia" I look up and see my mentor Master Jack his in his late fifties and has grey hair . I have been training my whole life , I enjoy it but my parents don't know nobody knows only Jack. I begged Jack to teach me his the commander of the army when I was younger I would sneak and watch him train the other guards his really good.
He might be getting old but he can still kick butts, I admired his skills and I hated being defenceless. I love fighting its like a hobby. I started training since I was 6 now am 19 am pretty much a master now. Most people know me as a pampered princess but little do they know am not. I made a name for myself
when I was 12 I began robbing the greedy and rich nobles and then give the money to the poor many know me as Red cloak. I keep my long brown hair in a low bun but sometimes I feel like cutting and hide my face in a red cloak and start my job in the middle of the night.
Life in a court as a royalty is pretty dangerous, the nobles envy the crown and they want it that why am always careful. Jack touched my arm and I smiled , when I smile it brings out my dimples and I greeted him "good day what can I assist you with". He replied" Nothing , your parents are asking of you. They are in the throne room its best you go now" I said "OK am going it seems really important" and gave him a hug and heading to the throne room.
I stood in front of my parents ,my mom is happy well I wonder what's this about. Most people said I looked like my Mom. I had her bright big blue eyes and I have my dad's brown hair. I have both my parents features but mostly my mom's. I had her pale skin, her pointed nose, her small mouth but I got the dimples from my dad. I greeted my parents and smiled " Good afternoon your happy mom what's the news" .
My dad cleared his throat and said "It is indeed a blessed and happy day, you are to be married next month. Prince Anthony proposed and you already have my blessings. We really need this alliance ,because I know you are aware that our enemies have crossed the boarder and we need their armies and the most important part in this marriage you and Anthony are childhood friends you and him are no strangers and that's not an issue" . When he was done I replied "What !!! I can't marry him, his terrible to begin with and to make babies with him is very disgusting. I would rather die than marrying him" I walked out of the throne room, my blue dress trailing behind me. I won't let him break my heart again. I ignore my parents, who are busy shouting and calling my name. I shut the door to the throne room behind and I head to my room and started packing.
Am leaving this castle tonight,I packed mostly cloaks , trousers, tunics which I bought from my nights out , belts. I packed my things in a brown bag and packed the coins I saved and also the necklaces I would sell when I run out of money. I would go to the boarder and kill the enemies myself. We don't need Anthony's army. I put my hair in a low bun and change my blus into brown trousers and a red tunic and sneak out through the window like how I always do but its day I have to be extremely careful to avoid getting noticed and because guards are everywhere. I manage to leave the castle unseen. I head to the town wearing a cloak and covering my face so no one will recognise me.
I ask people around where the boarder is and which road is the shortest way I can take to get there some replied "best to leave the boarder alone its not safe for anyone , especially a pretty young girl" I snorted really am not defenceless , am more than capable of taking care of myself. I found a place to sleep , a tavern to be precise. I paid the bar maid 20gold coins for a decent place to sleep and a meal. I got into the room which the lady directed me to enter. It looked simple and neat at least,the meal wasn't better than the castle food but it was manageable. I finished my meal and lay on the bed I kept the sword beside me and slept , In the morning I heard murmuring and shouts from people mostly men the are talking about me"The princess is missing,maybe she was kidnapped or maybe she ran away ugh...but am having a huge hunch she doesn't want to get married I heard about her wedding from her servants and the princess seemed really angry, spoilt princess she doesn't know she's will be doing us a huge favour " they all agreed another man sounding much older than the last who spoke said"The enemies at the boarder are making our lives difficult, we can't travel or buy food materials to eat or even trade with other kingdoms. When we need her the most she disappears ,we need prince Anthony's army more than ever. There is also an award placed on whoever finds the princess but we can do it for free ay mates?" they responded "ay" OK good to know they are merchants but I felt sorry I didn't know the people suffered like this .
But I need to try and get to the boarder I need to do something, but marrying him is not in the picture. I wash my face with a bowl of water and keep some bread in my bag served by the bar maid for the journey ahead and leave the room along the way. I pay people to tell me the shortcut to the boarder. Many say "May God be with you "and I reply" Amen". I reached band nearby town close to the boarder, it looked deserted I found a place to sleep in a barb and waited for tomorrow . Tomorrow I will fight with all my strength and I would proudly die for my kingdom .
