Uneasiness Relays In Mr. Heriss

They were waiting for the meat. A child holding his mother's hand. The cheerfulness of the child fulfilled my heart. Well, to be honest, I can't say it actually filled my heart.

"Here, your parcel" it was noon, the mother and her child came to buy some meat from my shop. After handling the plastic bag to her, I wiped my forehead that was engrossed with sweat. Today was especially hot. The sun was pouring down. The employees also had a hard time dealing. Due to low profit, I couldn't buy an air conditioner for the employees. It would cost more than I could make. I sighed with a bit of hesitance. The hot weather reminded me of the days I had spent with my beloved daughter. Her cheerful youthful smile had never left her face whether it's a sunny or cold day. Thinking that there would come no one else for a time being, I headed inside to check on others. The hot weather had affected me much, I was having a headache although it wasn't that intense. All the employees were exhausted due to the warm weather. To cheer them, I took out a case of ice cream that I brought yesterday. It was really nice to have some today.

After giving it to all of them one after one there left a few.

Now there's left, "Jodan," as I couldn't find him anywhere, I asked Kelan who was in front of me. "Have you seen Jodan? Well, here. Give it to him if you see him." I pulled out one I've cream and forwarded it before him but his expression stiffened. "Sir, Jodan left this place." I got dragged drown from my imagination and slammed onto reality. "Oh, right. He….left the place." I was too childish to think like that. "Well, you can have both." I offered him but he denied it politely. Kelan realized that I was feeling down. Maybe not. I'm just ashamed of my act. All the others have gotten over the fact that Jodan is not longer works here, on the other hand, I wasn't able to move on. I was stuck inside. I should be ashamed of. I have to be strong and cold. Ordering Kelan to do the things that I was doing a moment ago, I went out of the store from the back door. As I'm the owner, I have the flexibility of doing tasks. Sometimes I do the handling goods to customers and some times slaughtering the animals in the killing department or sometimes I would slack off like I'm doing now.

It's been few days, that Jodan left the place. I wonder what he's doing right now. Probably not good. I heard from Luna that he might be taken by the police force. The one I'm afraid of is the detective. I have a terrible past with him. Not that he knows that. Only the one who knows it is me. His name is Mr. Lukas. A dangerous aura always emits from his back. The most powerful detective in CPA-4. He had caught over hundred monsters. No wonder he got the Jodan. His IQ is higher than any normal human's. A truly deadly human. When he came toy shop, my heart stopped for a moment thinking what's he's gonna do. He's a person whose next move can't be predicted. As I was wandering around not doing any actual task, Luna asked.

"Are you feeling better today?"

"Oh, was I sick?"

"No, you were...were... a bit out of your mind recently. I have noticed that."

"Maybe I'm, well, I'm sorry. I can't just say I'm well. Ah(sigh)." Luna didn't seem to ask me anything. Probably because she had understood the situation. Even if she asks, I might just avoid answering it. I don't have any answer, to begin with. My mind is compressed by the fact that Jodan got caught. I was in the middle of nowhere. Whether should I try to get him out of that hellish prison or just leave him as he's now is a question. No matter how much I think, I just couldn't pick one. For once I thought I would just fight the world and take Jodan out of that prison but then again thinking about the children here. I glanced at Luna who had taken a seat beside me on the bench. I would want to have them in a safe place. Not wanting to do any more hardship. They have suffered much, I can't just let them bear more weight. "Thanks for the ice cream earlier," Luna said with a bright smile. I know it was just to make me happy but Luna you don't have to act in front of me.

"Just ask when you need more." Sometimes small moments like this are the best ones. I could hardly believe Luna, the girl who was known highly for his attitude, had changed massively. To be more precise, she was more violent, more arrogant when I first saw him. Her body was vulnerable. She could hardly walk. If someone saw her, only pity comes towards her. The never-ending cycle of her pain came to end unless I picked her that day. I wonder what would she would be if I didn't do that. She would probably be dead by now. The more I think the more the painful moments flashed before my eyes. The eyes had seen so many deaths. The eyes that bear the guilt of killing. The unforgettable experience that no one wanted to gain, I embraced them with open arms. "It's getting chilly, we should head inside." In the daytime the warm weather becomes warmer however in the nighttime, the cold blaze blows with violent strikes. When the next season comes we have to wrap up the business. I have some plans in mind. This area is getting risky and we can't lay low here anymore. The detective has come to shop once, there might be a second chance. Before that comes we have to move out from here.

"Let's go." I with Luna got inside the shop again. I was a bit astonished to myself thinking that I have spent all day just thinking.
