Turn of Events

After three hours of nonstop working my body became sniffed. The thought of leaving this job came across me but then again it vanished into thin air. The problem of mine would rise again if I do that although I still suffer every night with that pain I become used to it. Even if I still had to deal with pain, I'm happy because that's how I have to lead this life. Each one of us had to sacrifice something in life to live a sound life.

"You can go home now." Beside me was Kelan, he said that while cleaning his table. His always bright smile didn't leave his face even for once today. As expected from him. Was he really that happy with his life? Or he didn't want others to see his sad face. Smile is great but always smile is kinda creepy if you ask. I was thinking weird stuff as usual while taking off my apron. All of the workers already left, I gasped at that by looking at all the aprons. Each of our names was placed up of the hanger as if to indicate where to put your aprons. I as the last part one to join had to take the last position. My sights were steering all the name plates to find my own one. For once, my eyes locked at Sutasi's name plate.

"So, he also left." It was quite unusual for him to leave earlier. Finally, I placed my apron at its place and picked my bag out of the locker.

Stepping outside I noticed first was the day had become dark. The lights of the street were brimming to the fullest. Damn, I spent most of my day working. I pulled out the diary from my pocket by instinct. I flipped through pages to find my stats.

I don't know why but leveling up is quite hard than I expected. In normal video games, you could easily level up first. But as you get to a higher level it became tough. But in my case, this system is not like that.

"was there another way to level up but not killing?"

*If there was I would have told you earlier. Right?*

That old man said in confidence.

I made a deep and deep sigh. I was walking in exhausted. My skinny body wasn't built to do such power-consuming jobs. Nevertheless, I somehow managed today. Did the system help me to do that? Who knows?

I was halfway to my home, my half-broken cell phone rang loudly. To attracting individuals, I quickly pulled it out of my right pocket and answer it. The name that showed up wasn't in my contact list. At first, I hesitated a bit but then again, I answered it.

"Hello, is this Mr. Jodan Libert's phone? I'm calling from St. Howel Hospital." A sweet, mouthful voice came to my ear.

"Yes, I'm the one you asked," I answered casually.

"The matter is… is… You should come here quickly. We need to tell you in person." She was hesitating for a moment there then again, she regained herself.

I want to head home as fast as I could. Jessica is waiting for me. I can't wait her any longer. So, I wanted to end this call as soon as possible.

"Can you please tell me that on phone? I have work to do?"

"Sir, I think this is more important than your work." She approached me again to go to the hospital.

"Just say it." I declined her offer rapidly.

"If you insist then."

Now, you are on track Ms.

"Your… M-M-mother is no-o more." She shuttered quite a lot, "Sir, please come as quickly as possible! Are you okay! Si—"

I landed my phone from my ear slowly and cut the call, put the phone inside of my pocket, and started walking usual pace. It's as if nothing has happened. The grim from earlier reappeared. I became in a wholesome mood as if something good happened to me. Like I a million-dollar lottery ticket.

I onward fast because I was already late from what I told Jessica. I would definitely be scolded. At that brief moment, I bumped into someone I shouldn't have. It was a male, wearing a black Huddie. It felt like he was trying to hide his appearance from everyone just like how I used to do. We exchanged our glances.

"S-Sutashi?" I asked out to make sure it was him. It was a bit awkward to me as I hardly get to talk with him. In my thought, he might be a but unfriendly and mind my own business type guy. Despite not being able to avoid me, he spoke out strangely. "

"Don't go home today. You might get k--" He said it so quietly that only I could hear it. But without having a conversation with me he ran away swiftly.

"Hu--?"

I was way too confused that I thought he might mistake me for someone else. The alley was right from the building I live. I passed it hurriedly and entered the building. For some reason today the lights were not on. Was Mr. Hans slacking off from the work again? As I left my imagination to get the best out of me, I walked through the hall near the elevator.

"Huh? It's broken? Didn't it work in the morning?" I looked back to see if Mr. Hans were there but he wasn't they like he should be. That man never does his works properly. Finding no way, I walked myself to the stairs. It was night time and the lights were gone. So, everything including me was dark. Nothing was visible so I pulled out my phone and turned on the flash light.

"Not it's okay." I straightened my back and walked confidently. I wonder if this was Jessica's prank or something. She told me that she would be at her apartment. Without any doubt, I headed towards her apartment. As her apartment was right beside mine, I passed my one and then stopped in her one. The first thing I noticed was that the door was not locked.

I think you need help, Jodan.
