A Chance to Live

So, this plan was also a failure. I was very much depressed about that matter that I wasn't able to find a solution to my dreadful pain.

There is a marketplace. In order to get to my apartment, I had to go through it. More or less I was uncomfortable going through the market because the salesman or the owners would try to talk with me. They would try to convince me to buy their product. Most people love that but as a person with low communication skills I would rather feel awkward there. In usual day I would just pass the market as quickly as I possible could. Sometimes I ran though it superfast. No one would ask me anything as I was avoiding them. They probably understood that.

However, today was my unlucky day. The streets were packed with humans or should I say homo sapiens. They were giggling outside the shops with the owners. The interaction with owners made them laugh greatly.

As I was trying my best to get out from that coward and move onward, a voice echoed in my ears.

"Hey! Boy! You want some meat?" I muscular big guy asked me politely as he was selling meat.

"I prefer not," I replied trying to close the conversation as swiftly as possible.

"It's really juicy, you can make delicious dishes with this meat. It's really fresh."

I again gave him the same reply. "Not today." While making a scornful expression. This is the most effective technic I invented after encountering those salesmen countless times. In utmost cases, it is effective.

As expected he didn't try to convince me anymore and gave up. It's my win old man. Conversely, I was about to move my feet in a ground-breaking speed, the old man who was annoying me came close to my right ear.

"You're one of them, right?" He whispered to me out of nowhere. I was stunned to hear it. My mind became blank. Even though I was trying, my brain couldn't process any information. It's as if the world was moving at its pace but I was stood like a rock. Did he catch me here? Why did he ask me those kinds of things out of nowhere? In truth I was totally terrified. I was sure that I didn't do anything that put me in suspicious. I was extremely cautious in my every step.

Seeing me a little off he said, "I'm just joking. You don't have to be afraid. It's not like you can be one of them. Ha ah ha" He tried to brush that off and then again began doing his work.

As I was moving forward, I saw a recruitment notice beside the stall.

< we need part-time workers for the butchery. He had to be good with knives. >

As soon I discovered that recruitment poster, A idea came up right in my mind. "I can solve my problem." I joyed in silence but it didn't show up.

* It's a great idea. But there's a limit to it. You can't escape from that forever. Today or tomorrow you have to accept it.*

For now, I give it a try. I back up a few steps as I faced the big guy. "I want this part-time job." He was closely organizing his fronts. My voice didn't reach his ear, So I again told her that, "Sir, I want the job."

This time my word grasped his attention.

"Are you sure about that?" The big guy asked me with suspicion.

He might be thinking a skinny weak like me wants to work in a butcher shop. That's comical. I also think that way. But I didn't have any choice. It's 'do or die' by that pain. Thinking about that pain made my body shiver. Oh, he was waiting for my answer.

I nodded my head in the affirmative.

"Are you good at handling the knives? Did you read the condition writing there?" He asked me in order to confirm my capability.

I'm not that good with knives, However, I have to take the job at any cost. So, think Jodan. You have to do something here. As I was frustrating over what to say, he spoke out,

"Okay then. Come. If you're not good at that. We can make you worthy with knives" I went inside the shop. The interior was quite big than the outside. I followed that man as he walks. Now, that I can see his back, he's a well built man. He must do heavy workout daily. Or how was he able to get that body at this age.

Workers were cutting down meats with sharp knives.

"hai ho! Hai ho!"

*STAB!* *CUT*

" Eeh"

Every one of them was making noises as that stab the meat. It looked brutal for me as I was never experienced such a thing. If I remember, once in my college Peter got badly hurt by a paper cutter. That was the first time I saw blood so much. The whole class was overflowing with his blood. He certainly hit his veins by that cutter. Not to mention he was running all around the classroom in pain. In the end, he had to clean the whole class by himself. As I was diving into the store more the sound of blades was increasing drastically. The reverberation of that made me anxious. The blood was flowing out of the flesh. My heart was beating faster than it supposes to be. "Are you okay?" The big guy asked me. "Uhmm. I'm fine." I said while holding myself.

"If you're weak-hearted you wouldn't able to do this job. So, think carefully there's still time left." The muscular man attempted to reassure me.

"No, I'll be alright."

"So, you have to be very well with knives. Any mistakes can cause an accident. Kelan will help you. If you need any help ask him."

The old man gazed at a worker who was rapidly using his knives. He seemed to be a hard worker. Sweats were pouring down his forehead.

"That's Kelan." The old man said in a somewhat grinning way.
