1 The Runaway Princess

Rain was always a friend of comfort, the way it would envelope you in its cold and chilling air, how the sound of pitter patter would sound like hands clapping making a calming melody, but the true beauty of rain only comes to show once it would dissapear leaving a wonderful sight, a rainbow.

Yelena never agreed to this. Yes, rain did make her calm sometimes but what she didn't like about it was the lie that it could leave a rainbow behind because for her rainbows were rare but storms weren't.

"Yelena! What have i told you?" The boom of her father's voice, King Darius , took her attention away from the book she was reading to her standing father's figure.

"I will not let you tarnish your future as well as our family's name! You will not become this stupid uneducated woman who talks to insane people." To her father's response Yelena merely sighed, closed the book she was reading, and stood up before looking at her father.

"This stupid uneducated woman that you are talking about is the woman that i aim to be and the people whom you call insane are just mere werewolves and humans who are in need of help." Her gaze never left her father's as her eyes began to change from a dull lavender to a bright violet, revealing that her wolf was partially in control.

"Just because i am a female does not mean i do not think about where my plans may lead me, i am not your little girl anymore Papa." She cried out while her fingers held the book tighter in her palm.

"You belong in this castle Yelena! The outside world is dangerous especially when girls like you are deemed inferior to man." Her Papa shouted as a reply making Yelena more upset onto why her father was so protective of her.

She was raised to become a princess and at the same time a warrior. As her mother teached her values and etiquette, her father along side with her brother, Nickolai, taught her ways on how to show dominance in the battle field.

"Papa i have told you a million times! I am not a little girl who needs saving, just because i am the only girl in our family does not mean i can't survive out there." Yelena exclaimed finally releasing the book in her hands and slamming it on the small wooden table right next to the chair she was sitting at.

"I am a Popova for pete's sake! Why can't i do it? Why can't i go out there? You let Mama come with you when we were at war with the Turgenev Family, why can't i go so that i may help people who need me?" Yelena exhaled and closed her eyes, holding the bridge of her nose trying to calm her wolf down as her father took slow steps towards her.

"Yelena....your mother had business with the Turgenev Family which is why she went out to fight but you dont have to go! You have me and your mother as well as Nickolai what more do you need?" Her eyes widened at what her father had said.

Never in a thousand years would she have thought that her beloved Papa would even think of saying that to her.

Though they weren't as close as they were with Nickolai she still knew that her father thought of her to be a genuine woman who didn't need more than what was needed.

King Darius looked at her daughter's both shocked and hurt face, finally realizing what he had said.

"Yelena i-..." He was cut off by her daughter running out of the room, slamming the doo in the process.

With a heavy sigh he walked towards the door only to be met by his wife with an angered look on her face.

"Darius, you better give me a good reason why i shoudn't scream at your face right now." Veronica exclaimed with her hands on her hips as she glared at her husband.

"I did not mean to say such things to Yelena....it was just-" All of a sudden Veronica's hand met Darius' face which created a sound that echoed through the room.

With wide eyes Darius looked at his wife trying to find a hint of regret on her face only to find nothing but anger sparkling in her eyes. "How dare you!"

"If you think i'm gonna believe in any of that bullshit that your about spat out than you are more stupid than i thought you were." Darius didn't know what to say because if he were to describe himself as shocked than that would be an understatement.

"Your argument could be heard all the way from the gardens! We know damn well that Yelena wants to become a psychiatrist after what happened to her grandfather so i ask you why would you deny her of that choice?" Veronica now had her arms on her head, slowly rubbing her temple as she started to walk back and forth from the room, looking more frustated.

"Look...i know that its dangerous out there especially when we know that women rights are not yet spoken of but i know Yelena is strong, she's a Popova for crying out loud!" At this response Darius chuckled, slowly coming closer to his wife until she was in arms reach.

"You really are just like her." His hands carressed his wife's face, slowly reaching to her lips.

"She said the same thing." Darius sighed while Veronica embraced him slowly swaying both of them in a comforting manner.

"You and i both know that she can do this so why not let her?"
