ch 5: Practicing Celibacy

Karenina turned back abruptly when she heard Romeo's voice. She saw him dressed in Alb and Cincture. The alb was the long black robe fastened at the waist with a golden cincture type belt. Even in his long black robe, his shoulders appeared wide meeting at his tiny waist.

She wondered how it would feel to be hugged by him. Would she feel tiny in his embrace or would he look huge?

"Karenina, you haven't answered my question yet," Romeo said. "You should be in your dormitory's dining hall. Do you need anything or would you like to file a complaint?"

"No," she replied feeling disinterested and asked Romeo to get seated on his chair.

Surprisingly Romeo listened to her and she stepped close to him. Unboxing the first aid kit she forwarded her left hand. "Please, show me your wounded arm."

"Excuse me?" He ruffled.

"Nothing serious. Just wanted to express my apology by treating your wound which was originally given by me."

"About that... You need not to worry.'' He hesitated, folding his arms around his chest as he leaned back on his cosy chair.

Karenina gave him a disconcerting look before forcefully pulling his right arm and pushed his robe's long sleeve upto his elbows. Her eyebrows raised in amazement as she noticed how strong and masculine his arm was. And of course she also saw the messy bandage tied around his wound, like someone carelessly tied it up in a hurry.

"Sit tight, father. This is a normal form of apologising in my pack," she said.

Romeo almost blushed and nodded. "I have heard a lot about you from Dante. He must really cherish you "

"No. My father only cherishes his wife and listens to her every order. If he really cared for me, I wouldn't have ended up here."

Romeo kept quiet, because he understands that Karenina was not mature enough to understand her parents' intentions. She was a rebellious daughter!

He watched her take off his blood soaked bandage, apply some medicine and dress his wound again with clean bandage.

"About earlier... I suspended Ivaan for a week. He will be grounded in the praying room for a week,"he said, trying to make her feel better.

She closes the first aid kit and thanks him for taking the action against Ivaan. She gave him her sweet but suggestive smile that from her experience, completely unnerved most men.

She saw him staring at her with those eyes which made her ask,"How did you become friends with my father? As far as I know he never went to convent schools or colleges."

"We are childhood friends. Dante was my buddy until I decided to quit my studies and joined the temple as a theology student."

"So suddenly?" Karenina reacted. "Even so I would not question your choice since everyone has their faith. However it's impressive how you joined the temple as a student and now you're the high priest of it."

A small smile pulled his corners of lips as he said,"I had to because that was why I joined the temple."

His reply somehow made her sad because he was her fated mate and he wasn't aware of it, not even a hint for her to know. And even if she wasn't religious, her parents were. Seducing the high priest would land her in hell. If found out, she would be expelled from the college, abandoned by her parents and kicked out of her pack.

HORRIBLE! Such a waste of his handsome face and sculpted physique. Still she wanted to walk on hellfire if it was for him.

She would commit the sin of falling for him and making him hers. He was her sin, the sin she was willing to fall for altogether. There was something about his purity and holiness that fuelled her desire. The temptations of forbidden affairs burn even the purest god's soul.. She was just a mere mortal.

"Karenina, would you like me to escort you back to your dormitory?" Romeo's question jolted her out of her thoughts.

Panicking, she immediately denied and ran towards the door with the first aid kit. Suddenly her feet stopped, she looked back at him. Her heart raced as she mustered up her courage and asked,"D-Do High Priest marry?"

"Yes they do but it only happens when they can't resist the mate bond," he said. "If a High Priest or any priest has mastered the ordination and celibacy they can revoke the nature law of werewolves and become lone wolves without mates."

"What about you?"

Romeo furrowed his eyebrows and awkwardly asked,"What do you mean?"

"I mean do you know who your mate is... Or..."

"No. I don't have any mate, I have already completed my ordination and practising celibacy," his reply was a bit uncomfortable as if he was frustrated about this question.

"Too bad you failed your ordination because your mate exists and she knows you are her mate,"she mumbled in her low voice, however it was audible enough to Romeo's ears.

Romeo rose from his chair and taking long strides at her, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her inside. Slamming her against the wall, he glares at her with his piercing blue eyes which slowly turn into murderous red eyes.

"Karenina, how could you insult my faith like that? I have no mate," he scowled. "You could have been expelled from the college if it weren't for my promise to Dante."

"What promise? I don't give a fuck about promises or sacrifices. Just do what you are supposed to. I, too wish to leave this shitty place, I feel like–"

"ENOUGH CHILD,"his voice turned into a growl, dominating Karenina and making her feel goosebumps all over her body.

She lowered her face, clenching her fists she grumbled in her heavy emotional voice. "Y-You are also like my parents..."

"What?"

Before Romeo could understand her words,she had already left his office. Running all the way to her dormitory, she kept cursing her dumb-ass. Just what was she expecting from a high priest. He doesn't even know his mate exists and he bluntly denies it too.

She felt very stupid because Romeo was being nice to her only because she was the daughter of his beloved friend. Other than that she was like any other student in his class whom he would not even see as a romantic partner.

"Seriously, what has happened to me? I'm Alpha heir... How come I can't control myself from drawing at him?" She fumbled in irritation, biting her lower lip until it started bleeding. "I'll break the mate bond too... If he doesn't have a mate, I, too, have no mate like him. We are even now."

"What's even? And why are you not in your dormitory but roaming around the other buildings?" Madonna questioned in her serious voice when she saw Karenina sneaking inside the dormitory.
