4 Fever

Samantha recalled all her dreams, she hugged herself more tightly, her dreams are crashed into tiny pieces. Her sobs subsided instantly when she sensed someone standing close to her, she raised her head slowly to glare who it was but it was too dark.

" Who's there? show your face." Her voice was shaky but bold.

A cold hand grabbed her hand recklessly, it was very masculine and rough.

" Let me go, get your hands off me. The grip on her shoulder tightened, " Shut your damn mouth beautiful, it's just me and you here in the woods. No one is going to rescue you no matter how hard you scream." He chuckled softly.

" Don't worry, l'll sale you to a wealthy man." The man grabbed her hair mercilessly, whispering in her ear, Sam's body stiffened when she heard his words.

" No! this is not happening. l'll never allow someone to take advantage of me, you need to save yourself Samantha." She was preparing to pull the dagger from the scabbard when the man grabbed her roughly.

" No! Alexander." She yelled, that was the first name that escaped from her lips when she sensed danger.

She was surprised with herself too, how could she expect the heartless mafia leader to save her? she laughed in between the sobs. That's so stupid of her, infact, Alexander would be so happy if she dies here in the woods.

" How dare you touch her? do you have a death wish? " Alexander's husky voice echoed in the quiet woods.

Samantha heard someone cry in pain in the next few seconds, the rough hand wasn't holding her anymore.

" It's not safe here in the woods, l don't know what would have happened to you if l would be one minute late."

Alexander's cold voice was heard, Samantha couldn't believe her ears, so he came to save her?. She outstretched her hand to find the way to him.

Her hand touched a soft substance, she wrapped her hands around him instantly.

" Thank you, l thought you wouldn't save me. l was scared to the core, l thought l'm going to die."

She hugged him more tightly, confessing her thoughts to him.

Alexander didn't know what to do with the naive girl in his arms, he raised his hands to pat her head but halted halfway. He doesn't know how to comfort her for sure.

" Can you just shut the hell up? or else, I'll leave you in the woods."

Samantha shuttered her mouth upon hearing his cold voice, she wondered if Alexander is human. She understands he's a mafia leader but....how could he be this cold-hearted? He saved her so that he could threaten her again?

" Let's go, l have no time to waste here." Alexander led the way without glancing behind to check on sam, he didn't give a damn about Samantha who was finding it hard to walk in the dark.

Alexander is so lucky because he can see in the darkness, it's just like daytime to him. Samantha couldn't take it anymore, she kept on hitting tree trunks till her body became sore.

" Ouch! this hurts. How can someone see in the dark? is he even human?" She hissed when her leg got stuck in the root of a tree.

She gave up and sat against the large trunk of a tree, she'll just spent the night here. There was no need for her to keep on going because her body was becoming weak with each step she was taking.

" l'll spend the night here, l hope the mysterious person won't appear again." She mumbled.

Her legs felt numb while her body shivered violently, she had already catch a cold. Her clothes hugged her body tightly, she closed her eyes, all sorts of horror images that she has ever watched flashing in her mind.

" l hope the zombie won't attack me, that's the results of watching horror series. You need to calm down Sam, supernatural creatures don't exist." She comforted herself.

" This is the worst day of my life." she heaved a frustration sigh.

lt was a very long day of her life, she can't believe she went through alot in just one day, it seemed like a decade to her. Alexander creased his eyebrows when he realised Samantha wasn't fallowing him anymore.

" Damn it, where the hell did she go now? That's why l hate working with women."

Alexander cursed under his breath, raking his wet hair roughly. He listened keenly and heard her uneven breaths from afar.

" You're stubborn woman, so you stopped following me after few steps?. I thought you're strong enough, so silly of me indeed." Alexander shook his head gently.

He can't believe she stopped following him after a few steps, he returned to the woods to find her.

" l thought you're made of steel young man, do you think l have free time to babysit you?" He cursed on his way to the woods.

Samantha was finding it hard to breathe, her condition was getting out of her hands and she couldn't bear it anymore.

She leaned on the trunk of the tree.

" Hold on Sam, you can't pass out in the middle of nowhere. You've to be strong for yourself."

She kept on crawling, she has to get out of here, she just can't give up yet.

She repeated those words inside her head over and over again, her mind got heavier with each passing second.

" No! no! no!, this is not happening. Sam shook her heavy head countless times, to get rid of the dizziness.

She finally gave up because it was hard for her to bear it, her eyes closed involuntary and she passed out.

Alexander glanced at the young lady lying on the ground unconscious.

" What the hell! so weak creatures indeed. That's why l have never allowed a woman to work for me, it's such a waste."

Alexander cursed, gritting his teeth. He bent over slightly, picking Sam from the muddy ground and carrying her into his arms. He didn't want to leave her in the woods, she'll just get killed.

" You're so luck little girl, l swore to protect you when your father asked me."

He already swore to protect the girl though he didn't answer Mr Jason when he pleaded with him. His inner self accepted his pleas, he can't bend his promises. He has never broken any of his promises and he's not planning on doing it either.

" l would have left you to die in the woods, you should thankful." His lips curved into a sinister smile.

Leonard knotted his eyebrows when he saw his master carrying the unconscious girl in his arms, Leonard is Alexander's friend since childhood.

" Wait! what's happening, man? what did you do to her? l hope it's not what l think right?" Leonard raised his eyebrows at him.

" What the hell are you thinking? l don't know what you're thinking about and l have no plans of knowing it." Alexander glared Leonard with sharp eyes.

" l found her unconscious body laying in the woods." Leon's lips curved into a mischievous smile.

" Just making sure you didn't suck her dry brother." Leonard placed the back of his hand on Sam's forehead, he retrieved it immediately as if he was burned.

" l think she caught a cold, we need to act first before her health gets worse." Leon opened the car instantly.

Alexander lowered his head to glare at her pale face.

" What are we supposed to do?" Alexander questioned him quietly as if there's nothing big to worry about, he's such a nerd, he doesn't know anything to do with health because he never gets sick in the first place.

" Get inside man, I'll call the doctor so that he can meet us in your villa." Leonard commanded him politely and he complied without saying anything.

Alexander held her small figure in his arms with caution, he heard her heart hammer unevenly inside her chest.

" Hello, let's meet at Alexander's villa, you need to hurry up. You know what he'll do to you if you don't make it on time. The patient caught cold."

Leon hung the call, he slid his phone in the plant's pocket and got inside the car. He clutched the steering wheel and the car pulled off instantly.

Leonard drove in a hurry, the car stopped outside the massive electronic iron gate. The guards opened the door instantly when they realised their master had arrived, they can't keep him waiting even for a minute.

Alexander stepped out of the car carrying Sam in his arms, the guard's and anyone who saw him was rendered speechless. They flickered their eyes countless times to make sure they were not dreaming.

Alexander's face was dark and emotionless as usual, everyone looked away to avoid their eyes from locking with him.

" Welcome back Master." The old man bowed slightly, Mr David is Alexander's butler.

He has been working for him since he came of age and took over his father's business, Alexander's lips were glued together. He didn't utter any word apart from nodding his head, he walked inside the mansion and found the doctor had already arrived.

He ascended the grand staircase carefully, he was worried about the fragile creature in his arms. He couldn't be that cautious if it was him.

" Will you just stand there and watch Alexander? the girl needs to be taken care of"

Leonard commanded the doctor to follow them, Alex pushed the door of his room open and walked inside, he approached his king-sized bed and laid the girl on it.

Samantha's clothes were full of mud, the white sheets which were neatly spread on the bed turned into mud.

" What the hell? are you alright Alexander? you could lay her on the couch for heaven's sake."

Leonard's mouth dropped open when he saw what Alexander had done, is he out his mind?.

" It's not your bed Leon, shut your mouth before l cut your tongue." Alexander's cold voice thundered.

Leon shook his head, he understands him because he has never been in this situation in the first place.

Alexander turned his head slightly to glare at the doctor who was still perplexed,.

" Will you just remain rooted there, check on her before you lose your head. You'll be answerable if anything happens to her."

He threatened him coldly, the doctor trembled upon hearing his cold voice. He approached the bed and reached his bag, pulling out the thermometer to check her temperature.

He creased his eyebrows slightly when he read the results.

" what's it? spit it out." Alexander's voice thundered inside the quiet room, Leonard glared at his friend with raised eyebrows.

" Take it slow man, why are you being over protective? she won't die from fever anyway." Leonard tried to calm him down.

" Shut your mouth, Leon. When did you qualify to be a doctor?" Alexander glared at him with piercing eyes.

" Do be mad at me Alexander, l was just trying to reason out." Leonard let out a throaty chuckle.

He raised his hands in surrender, a naughty smile creeping on his lips. He's used to Alexander's attitude and threats anyway, he doesn't take his words at heart because he'll only hurt himself.

" She's having a fever sir, it's because she caught cold. You need to help her out of these clothes and dry her hair so that she can get warmth, and wrap her in a heavy blanket." The doctor exhaled slowly after explaining it to him.

" Here are medicines, the medicine will help her feel better. You'll give it to her once she wakes up." He reached his bag and pulled out drug tablets, he handed them to Leonard.

" Thank you, doctor." Leonard nodded at him, " it's my pleasure to serve you." The doctor nodded back at him before picking up the bag and walking out of the room, he didn't want to spent any second in there because it was suffocating.

" I'll change her clothes man, bring your pajamas because she doesn't have any clothes." Leonard was about to approach the bed when Alexander gripped his hand firmly.

" I'll take care of her myself, you need to get going because your family is worried about you." He commanded, without glancing at him.

Leonard glared at him with raised eyebrows, shaking his head in disbelief. He can't believe Alexander is sending him away after helping, his friend is heartless for sure. His lips curved into a mischievous smile.

Alexander walked into his closet, pulling his pajamas carefully from the hangers.

" Didn't you hear what l said Leonard?, l don't need you anymore."

Alexander raised his left eyebrow at him, " wow, so you don't need me after helping?
