7 Chapter 7: Tales Of The Sea Hero

Chapter 7: Tales Of The Sea Hero

It was obvious that Loyola didn't have any ulterior motive when she confiscated the locket from Shiro. In fact, at first, she thought that this locket might be something that was hurting the poor child but then realized this was definitely something valuable.

This area was filled with thugs and scums. Scums who would sell their mothers for a few coins. Those shit-flinging monkeys would not only snatch the locket and sell it but they'd also sell the baby not even sparing the basket he came in.

They would often steal or beat someone. Other times they would harass many people because they couldn't repay their debt or sometimes they would even make a false claim.

All of them were like greedy hyenas. If they laid their eyes on that locket then she was sure that locket would be no more.

Even Loyola was somewhat tempted to sell the locket or trade it for food. However, she quickly threw that thought out of the window. First of all, the buyers would kill her instead of paying the rightful sum.

Second of all throwing away that which was rightfully Shiro's and was something that could probably connect him to his previous family just seemed wrong. And now he was akin to her son.

Little did she know that it was something many would try to get. This was a priceless object. This locket was the catalyst of wars, and in some cases, would even become the entire reason.

The funny thing was that it turned out this locket could only have one fixed owner. And even after the death of the owner, the ownership of the Locket would pass to the next generation as a rightful will.

The fact that the locket disappeared and returned to its owner was very funny. All those losses were for naught.

Since Eric was the previous owner of the Locket, he was well protected. But after giving up his powers, he was weakened. The Wind Arcane was no more. Passing on his locket or his will to Shiro further weakened his overall strength.

So unless it's passed down and given voluntarily or passed down as a will after the owner's death, the Locket wouldn't reveal the radiance of its power.

Loyola, who was unaware of the truth behind the locket and the past behind this baby, after making sure that both were sound asleep, she too fell into deep slumber.

MEANWHILE...

'CLANG CLANG CLANG'

The sound of iron shackles clashing against each other vibrated through the air.

Pirates, criminals, and all kinds of shit-flinging monkeys were brought down the ship of the Sea Federation.

Heading towards the biggest prison in this world invoked fear in some rational ones' hearts while induced excitement within the crazed ones.

Regardless of their emotions, with unbiased manner, all of them had chains around their hands and necks.

This was one category of prisoners. There was another category with those monsters possessing the power of gods or other mystic abilities.

Since ancient times before even the first disaster of Teraldis, it was believed that Gods had their own pawns. Pawns in this human realm who were none other than the mortals called human beings.

Indeed, Apostles or the chosen ones existed even before the First disaster of Teraldis. It was just that these Apostles were very rare.

The mystical unexplainable events could be traced back to these few individuals. It was even believed that among the countless fairy tales, some of them were real events all thanks to these chosen ones.

Humans were free to do whatever they wanted to do with these powers, only having to follow their blessing providers' instructions at certain points. But there was a common point in these ancient tales.

The treasures possessed by the gods were invaluable. The simple treasure of Gods given to the mortals was strong enough to raze an entire city off the ground.

The famous story - The Tales of the Sea Hero - was probably a fabricated tale because no one knew if it was actually true.

Regardless, this was the story that inspired many to become pirates. Especially after the Disaster of Teraldis when the Gods themselves descended.

'A story about a boy facing all the trials to become God!', though simple it may be, it was exciting and this excitement started the Era of Pirates!

"Walk faster!!!" the officers whipped some of the prisoners. These prisoners looked quite ordinary but the fact that they were moved to such a prison meant that they had done something horrible. There was no sympathy.

In the other group of prisoners, very few were chosen ones. Others were people with mystic abilities or artifacts embedded in their bodies.

It was true, most of the chosen ones were Pirates or the ones termed as foolhardy. But they also possessed various abilities making it hard for the federation to capture them.

The only reason Federation could capture these people was because of the use of Devil Stones. As the name suggested, these were stones with properties that could disturb the ties between the Chosen Ones and the Gods. In fact, with the right quantities and depending upon the strength of the tie, the federation used these stones to sever the ties between the Apostles and the Gods.

The prisoners were being whipped again and again although they were listening to their commands. It was indeed a pitiful sight.

The last guy who was brought seemed to be heavily injured. Chains were used to literally drag him through the ground as this person was unconscious.

As the body was dragged, it left bloody stains on the ground. But the charge didn't mind, and judging from his expressions, he was enjoying it quite a lot.

"Put him in the 3rd sector!" said the high-level officer.

"Yes sir!" a thin-looking officer saluted and then pulled the man towards sector 3.

Even though Eric was unconscious, faint murmurings rang inside his head. They were akin to the ravings of a mad God.

Shiro! Shiro! Shiro!
