28 Bad News (2)

"Are you sure about that?" Max asked after letting out a sigh of relief. Before then, Max had almost wanted to run away with Zheren after he told him that he met with Kelvin at the infirmary but after explaining that he met him only briefly and then returned to the dorm, he was able to calm down.

He did not want anyone to soil their hands for his sake and so he was greatly relieved that Zheren had nothing to do with the death of Kelvin.

"I am sure Max, I can't do such a thing! I can't kill anyone in such a way," Zheren replied, referring to the brutal way that Kelvin was murdered.

"Alright, end of discussion. Let's go take a seat before the teacher comes," Max said not wanting to dwell on the same issue for long. They walked to the back seats and then sat down as they wait for the teacher to come.

While they were waiting, one of the students ran into the class panting. She ran to her friend and whispered something into her ears which caused the girl to jump up and run out of the class.

The girl who had run into the class made to follow after her friend but the teacher stopped her.

"Lizzy, where are you going to?" The man asked seeming upset.

"Sir..."

"Speak!" The man seeing how reluctant to talk she was became impatient.

"Si-Sir a-another student Is dead!" She blurted out with her eyes closed. She was panting and at the same time sweating.

"What!"

"What!"

The teacher and the students yelled at the same time with their eyes wide open in shock.

"Where? Take me to the place now!" The teacher said and the girl nodded and began to walk out of the class. The teacher followed immediately after her, same with the students who wanted to see what happened.

Upon getting to the scene, the students gasped at what they saw. Just like how Kelvin was killed, the body was brutally severed with some parts missing. The body looked dry like the blood in it was completely drained out with nothing left behind.

"When did you see this?" The teacher turned and asked the girl who had reported the case.

"Sir, this morning we both were coming to class when she said she heard her friend call her. And that it looked like she was in some kind of trouble, I wanted to follow her but she insisted I go to class and that she'll join me soon," the girl said while tapping her fingers on her legs in panic. "I- I later rushed back to the place she entered and to my surprise, I found her like this," she added.

The teacher clenched his fist as he kept staring at the dead body of the girl, first it was Kelvin and now another person. "Go and inform the Dean!" He ordered one of the students who nodded and ran off.

Something like this has never happened in the school so why now? What makes it so hard to figure out is the fact that after the security check early this morning, nothing was found. Not a single creature or an unusual movement was found.

"Someone help!!"

All of a sudden, the student heard a male voice yelling for help. The students began to look around as they got confused, they opened their ears to listen carefully to the voice.

"Help me, please!" The voice yelled again, this time louder than earlier and it sounded to be in pain.

"That's James, my friend! He just ran off to call the Dean!" A boy said causing all eyes to turn to him. "Yes, it's my friend! We need to save him!" He pleaded, waiting for the teacher to say something.

"Help me, please! Please!" The voice came again.

"Sir, please let's go help my friend!" The boy begged with tears almost covering his eyes.

"I'll lead the way! You all should follow behind and don't act recklessly!" The teacher said and began to run in the direction of the voice.

Zheren was about to follow the students when Max held him back. "Aren't we going with them?" Zheren asked calmly, even though he was a bit confused about Max's sudden action, he knew he must have a reason behind it.

"No, let's go this way," Max said and dragged him in a different direction. Zheren didn't oppose him and quietly followed him until they got to an abandoned building. "Do you hear noises?" Max suddenly asked as he perked up his ears.

Zheren also had his ears perked up as he tried to listen to the noises around them. "I don't hear any, what noise do you hear?" Zheren did not hear any noise and so he turned to Max for an answer.

"Did you notice anything odd about that girl?" Max asked when he finally stopped looking around the place.

"What girl?" Zheren asked in confusion.

"The one who reported about the dead girl, did you notice anything unusual?"

"No, I don't. Is there a problem with her?" Zheren asked staring at Max who had a frown on his face.

"She's behaving weirdly, I don't know for sure but something tells me she is keeping some secrets," Max explained.

"Some secrets?" Zheren asked in confusion. He did not understand a thing that Max was saying because, from his view, the girl was scared and at the same time shocked by what she saw. This was what they were all thinking so would Max say that she is behaving oddly?" Are you sure abo..."

"Quiet!" Max said, cutting Zheren on his words. "Shadow manipulation!" He mumbled as his eyes began to change colour. "Show yourself, now!" He said coldly while looking in a far distance.

"Please take it easy, it's Lizzy," the girl said as she came out from behind a wall. She had a sly smile on her face as she stared intently at Max as if trying to pry into his soul.

"What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be with the other students?" Zheren asked with a complicated look on his face.

"I was about to join them but then I heard someone scream and the voice looked familiar to me and so I came to check out," the girl said not removing her gaze from Max.

"Do you think you can do a thing to me?" Max asked while glaring at the girl who removed her eyes from him.

"Oops, I guess I am not yet good at bluffing, Kuku Kuku," the girl said and chuckled.
