A Shameful End For Kelvin

With wide eyes and opened mouths, everyone watched as the same dark fogs that had disappeared before reappeared again. This time it was behind Kelvin who still had his eyes fixed on Max, he heard everyone scream his name but before he could process anything, it was already late. The dark fogs formed into some long claws and began to tear on his skin. Screams filled the air as Kelvin began to run around the duelling ground, as he ran, the claws followed him as well, tearing on his skin and causing his clothes to be dyed red.

As blood gushed out from his body, he began to get weak. He got weak to the extent that he could no longer walk and so he fell to the ground, helpless. No one came to help him, everyone watched as strength sipped out of him gradually, yet, no one made an attempt to help him. Not even Matt who wanted so badly to be his friend. It was as if the world had left him to die, that he was insignificant. From where he was lying down, a tear dropped from his eye then followed by multiple tears.

"Is this the end? Is this how I'll die? He asked himself as tears streamed down his blood filled face. " No! I won't die! Not now!" he said and tried to get up from the ground. Luckily he was able to be on his knees and so he looked in Max's direction. "Please I am sorry! Spare me! And I'll serve you, please I beg!"

The dark fogs moved to where Kelvin was kneeling, Kelvin seeing this tried to stand but he couldn't. He began to move backwards until his back touched the wall of the Arena. It was a dead-end for him! The dark fogs upon getting to him began to form until they formed into the grinning face of Max.

"Why are you begging me now?" Max's voice was heard through the fogs, his formed head tilted as a smirk curved on his lips. "I thought you wanted so badly to get done with me, why did you suddenly have to stop when the fun was just beginning?" The face of Max had a look of disappointment as it stared at Kelvin who was trembling.

"Please spare my life, I promise to serve you," Kelvin said not knowing how he found the voice to talk. All he wanted now was for Max to stop tormenting him, he didn't know if he would live to see the next day if it continued.

"It'll be good if I have a loyal dog like you by my side but... Sadly, I am not yet done with you."

This statement gave chills to Kelvin, the next thing that came to his mind was 'Run'. He wanted to do just that but unfortunately, his legs were done for. He had to find another means to escape and that is to 'crawl away! He gritted his teeth as he laid down flat on his belle, without a second thought, he began to crawl away from the dark fogs, he had never felt so disgraced before but it wasn't time to think about it, he needed to escape from Max no matter what.

Everyone who was watching what was happening dared not to talk again. It was as if they had lost their voice to talk, no one wanted to gain the attention of Max or who knows what will happen to them. They felt pity for Kelvin but what can they do? Their own lives were important as well!

The dark fogs snickered as they watched their effortless efforts of Kelvin to escape, the way he tried so much to escape was like a toddler who was just learning how to crawl. It looked funny at the same time annoying. The dark fogs began to follow him and soon it got to him, it raised its claws to attack Kelvin but then something or someone held him back. It growled and turned its head to see who dared to stop it and when it saw that it was Zheren, it took down its claws and looked at him questionably.

"It's enough or you'll kill him," Zheren said in a calm tone. He could no longer allow Max to continue or he'll kill Kelvin.

"I should stop? But you are aware of how he wants me dead!" Max's voice rang out through the dark fogs, it was clear how angry and irritated he is.

"Of course, I know but you have done enough harm to him already, let's leave here before the school authorities come," Zheren said and let go of his hold on the claws. "Don't forget what we discussed last night," he added.

The fogs turned to Kelvin and gave him a long glare before turning to look at Zheren, without saying a word to him, they disappeared. Soon Max is seen approaching the two boys.

"Let's leave!" He said to Zheren without sparing Kelvin a look.

"Thank you so much, thank you!" Kelvin said with his hands clasped together.

Max and Zheren didn't reply to him and began to walk away, they had not gone far when Zheren suddenly halted on his steps. He turned around and stared in Kelvin's direction for a brief moment before turning around and continuing his walk.

When the boys left the Arena, everything eventually returned to normal, the previous tense air came back to normal. The students were now able to talk again. Nat came out from where he was hiding and rushed to Kelvin to help him up but his hands were brushed off.

"Stay away from me!" Kelvin yelled angrily. "All of you!" He added, pointing at Harry and Matt who had just come down to the duelling ground. They moved away from him and watched as he staggered to his feet. He glared at them and then began to walk away.

"We should leave too," Matt said to Harry and Nat who nodded, they followed after Kelvin, giving them some space so they won't anger him the more.

Outside the Arena, Max and Zheren when someone ran up to them.

"Hello my name is Ray and I am your fan," the short boy said looking at Max.

"Is there a problem?" Max asked with a creased brow. He would not be surprised if all the junior students becomes his fans overnight.

"I placed a bet with the whole of my savings on you believing that you will win and you did not fail me. I want to say thank you, because of you I have become rich," the boy explained, with gratitude in his voice. When he was watching the fight from the beginning, he thought there wouldn't be hope but surprisingly, Max turned the table around.

"I see but how does it concern me?" Max asked with a bit of irritation in his voice.

"I- My mom is currently on the sickbed, I am grateful because, with this money, I can get her cured."

Max's brows knitted as he looked at the short boy before him, it could be that he was of the same age as the boy but a bit taller than him. As he stared at the boy, Max didn't know what to say but he felt hurt and sad at the same time. "It's fine, you can go. If you need help, let me know." With this, Max walked away. Zheren patted the boy on the shoulder and left to Join Max.

On their way, Zheren told Max to continue while he go get some food that they would eat as they both felt hungry. Max agreed and went to the dorms while Zheren turned around to the direction they both had taken before.

There at the corner of the school infirmary, the silhouette of a person was seen lurking around. It hid behind a tree and watched as the students went in and out of the infirmary.

Kelvin who didn't know that something was off staggered towards the infirmary while muttering some words to himself. He would curse and growl at each student that looked at him with pity. He was truly pathetic but who could be blamed? certainly not them!

"Hey!" He heard someone say behind him amidst his continuous murmur and when he turned around he was shocked to see who it is.
