5 Chapter 5

The next day Mary and I went to the woods to do magic training. However,I learned that using magic is rare in this world, only high ranking soldiers can conjure magic. I read that 3000 years ago during the war of the ages, magic, magical knowledge and magical weapons were lost to history.

"Okay.First things first,what is magic?"

"Magic is a phenomen produced my mana by converting mana into useable energy,"I answered.

"How could you know that? Did you research while in the library?"She wondered

It's a basic theory. I learned about it in all the manga and Anime I've been watching. In fact we have magicians in our world but I doubt it's the same.

"Mana has too many forms.. External mana is the mana that is in the air all around us and Internal mana that is inside of us.External mana is hard to control and can sometimes misfire.Only hero or Saint class are capable of doing this.Internal mana is the mana within all living things.You can channel the mana inside and convert it do anything.

Like this—O FIRE LEND ME YOUR GREAT POWER TO SCORCH MY ENEMIES.. FIREBALL."

She chanted an incantations and a fireball appeared in her hand.

"See."

She can use magic, I thought it was rare, I'm sure there is a viable explanation.

"That's amazing….but your chanting sucks," I said as I snorted at her.

"Oh come on,"Mary fumed.

That's so embarrassing. Do I have to do it?

"Why don't you try casting magic?" Mary suggested.

I closed my eyes and started to concentrate, Feeling the mana which flowed through my veins and in the atmosphere. I started visualizing a flame, Its color, the heats and the size. Combining carbon dioxide and oxygen then I ignited it.

"Wow!"

A large crimson flame appeared in my hand.

"Woah amazing.You didn't even use an incantation..I thought it was impossible to do that,"Mary stated.

Mary seemed to be impressed by my little trick. I'm quite impressed with myself as well.

"I told you I don't plan on saying it,"I responded as I raised my chest with confidence. I looked at the ball of flame in my hand. So this is magic , it's more wonderful than I imagined, deep inside I feel like I'm getting weaker by the second.

"Try firing it?"Mary suggested.

"Okay."

I shot the flame at a tree but what happened after was unexpected. My magic burned a large gap Into the forest. The forest started burning in seconds and all the animals in the forest ran for cover.

Both Mary and I were shocked.

"Quick?! We have to put out the flame—Quickly!"

Mary ran off and started firing Water Magic

"Damn.. Not enough mana!"

If I don't do something about this flame, everything within 10 kilometers will be burned to ashes. Think, what's the best way to extinguish a magic flame?

"Hold on, I have an idea," I informed.I started to imagine the air becoming warm and cold at the same time.

"Wait—Why has the air gotten so cold?...WHAT THEEEEEEE HELL!"

Mary was shouting as she saw the weather changes. Lightning and rain fell from the sky into the forest and slowly extinguished the flame. After that I released the magic and the clouds returned to normal.

"There...."

That was easier than I expected.

"Hmm?"

Mary looks like she's been struck by lightning. Her mouth was wide open and there was no air coming out of her lungs. It's the expression you make when you see a woman with a *ss the size of a washing machine.

"Roselina..Are you sure you aren't a god instead of a vampire ?"she stuttered.

"I'm a Vampire,why?"I asked in bewilderment.

"No ordinary vampire can control the weather.Not even a human,only a god," She shouted at me.

"Really...If they can't do a basic trick, how did they become saints?"

"Basic? Trick?" She shuddered and looked at me with deep eyes that looked like ones of a dead fish. "You call controlling the very laws of nature basic?!"

Damn she's scary when she's angry.

"Magic is already rare in this world, You mustn't let anyone know you're this powerful.Who knows who'll come after you,"Mary explained.

"I see."

"Okay.. Next we'll determine your aptitudes for magic."

Wow, her mood changes quickly. She took out 7 marbles and placed them on the stone. They were Green, Red, Yellow, Brown, Black, White, Blue stones.

"These are called magic stones and they are from different elements. Wind, Fire, Earth, Water, Holy and Dark,"She explained.

"Okay what about the white one?"I queried as I picked it up.

"We'll find out about that one later.. Just pick up a stone and pour mana into it."

"Okay."

I picked up the red one and channeled mana into it. Suddenly fire appeared.I picked up the green one and wind appeared. Brown for earth, Blue for water, Black for Darkness and yellow for light.

I have an affinity for all of them.

"Amazing,"Mary said as she marveled.

'What now!?' I thought to myself in bewilderment.

"Three is considered rare and you have all 7."

Mary seems to be amazed But now that I think about it. Holy water has always been a vampire's weakness. So how can I use it? Maybe I have an affinity but can't use it and maybe I can use it but I don't have a resistance to it.

Damn!

Where's one of those person info panels when you need one?

"What's this one? "I asked as I took up the white stone.

" I'm not sure, I never did, I think it has to do with esper skills,"Mary explained.

"Do you have any esper skill?"

"No but there was a story about a woman and her ability allowed her to communicate with animals."

I see, that's an amazing skill to have.

" What's the rarest of them?"I queried.

"I really don't know."

Well it's understandable, I mean she's just a country girl.

"Let's try to focus my mana on the stone…..nothing happen,"I responded
