Chapter 4: The Date

Stepping out she saw the car parked in front of the house, she walked towards the back door feeling relaxed, thinking it would be just her and the driver in the car but as the driver opened the door for her to get in. She was surprised to see Sam sitting in the back seat. She stepped into the car and greeted him. "Good evening, sir," she said looking a bit shy, Sam noticed her appearance and smiled "You look amazing, and remember Sam will be better and not sir," he said. "Alright and thank you" she said as she adjusted her hair behind her ear. 'Wow she was indeed a good choice, she can definitely handle the job' Sam thought to himself as he felt pleased with himself. Getting to their destination which was a luxurious restaurant, the driver opened the door for them to step out of the car, with Evon's hand in his, they both went into the restaurant. He seems to be well known as everyone is giving their respect to him. They were taken to their table, the best table in the house. Evon was thinking how beautiful the place was, being her first date. Sam noticed her smile "A penny for your thought" he said, "This place is beautiful", she replied, "Yes it really is, I'm glad you approve of the place" Sam said. The waiter came to their table and requested their order. Evon took one look at the list and asked Sam to order for her. Sam was pleased with her request and ordered his favorite food and told her, I hope you like it, it's one of my favorites. He poured her some wine and asked her to tell him about herself. "Tell you about myself? But sir…I mean Sam you know what I'm capable of at work" Evon said looking puzzled, "Yeah exactly, I know what you are capable of at work, other than that I know nothing and we have to be very convincing to my mother. She might be old but she is very clever. Sam said as the waiter arrived with their dish. When she saw the food, she was surprised, it was fish and chicken mixed with pasta and veggies. It was simple but looked delicious and fancy. While eating he asked her if she liked her food, and she said yes, fish and veggies were her favorite, the chicken made it extra special. "Well then, I'm glad you like it, let's dig in" Sam said as they got their cutleries ready to eat. After eating, Evon thanked Sam for a great meal and was feeling relaxed when he then brought out the contract and asked her to go through it, think about it, and give him a reply. Once she took the contract, she kept it in the bag he gave her. "To convince my mother, I must know some things that only very few people know about, get a good story of how we met…well good enough to convince her" he said as he gave her a serious look. "I believe you will do a marvelous job" he said as he got up from the table, making Evon to also stand up. "it's getting late, my driver will take you home," he said, "what about you?" Evon asked as she got ready to leave, "oh, I still have some business to attend to at the restaurant" he replied as he walked her to the car, opened the door, and watched her get in "Sleep well Evon" he said as he closed the door, "good night, Sam" she responds and the driver drove off.
