Chapter 2: The Plan

Sam was shocked as the door opened, Evon was looking at him and he had a smile on his face. When the elevator closed, it then dawned on him.

'Come to think of it, Evon could be fragile for this kind of proposal, but then again, her fragility is one thing that attracts me to her concerning this proposal' he thought as he thought of her, 'I'm not ready to get married, but mother constant pestering is getting the better of me. Sam smiled when he thought of his mother, I know she loves me, but I don't want to have any serious relationship now. I know what she really wants is a grandchild, and I don't have the time for that now. A wife and a child are too much of a distraction, I know when the time is right, I will fall in love but now is not the time. The company needs me, and I cannot forget my dad's memories. Mother doesn't understand that, she wants me to just settle down, and I will but not now. At least if I can't give her a grandson yet, I should give her a wife. This idea has to be the best one I've come up with, get a girl to pose as my wife and continue building my father's dream, he added as he smiled to himself 'But is Evon ready for the job, I don't want to break her heart, that is why I had to be straight with her from the start. No hidden agenda, and all cards are on the table, if she wants to play, fine, and if she doesn't, no problem. But seeing the frightened look on her face, I'm beginning to think otherwise and that kiss, what was I thinking, I'm a complete idiot' he added as he placed his hand on his face, 'I just wanted to prove to her it was nothing serious and it turns out to be serious. The way she responded was interesting, like someone accepting a deal, willing to be directed' Sam thought with a smirk, 'not bad, I could end up enjoying this much more than I thought' he added as he tried to brush the thought from his mind, 'this is not for enjoyment, it's purely business' he thought to himself

He walked back into the office, towards the window as he was lost in thought.

'I can still remember when we first met, the head of a department brought her file to me and I saw her records, it was outstanding. Toping her class, she is a brilliant candidate and she has a pretty face to go with those brains, when she was eventually interviewed, even though I wasn't present for the interview, later when I watched the video of the interview, she made such an impression on me that I approved her employment immediately. When she started working, she was good with her job, so good that she was promoted to work with me. When I saw her for the first time, I was impressed with her commitment to her Job. Maybe it was this commitment that prompted me to approach her for this personal matter' he thought as he sat behind the desk.

*sigh* "It's all out in the open now, let's just wait and see how it all plays out" he said to himself.
