[Chapter 2} Baara's Subconscious Thoughts.

" No...No....Ahhhhhhhh".

Baara shouted as she woke up.

'Omg! What a nightmare. Baara thought as she goes to the bathroom.

The sound of a rushing tap could be heard as Baara washes her face.

"Ugghhhh!, I don't think I can go to work like this".Exclaimed Baara as she looked in the mirror to see a watery face with dark circles under her eyes.

The door to her room opens.

A young beautiful lady walks in tired.

"Ahhh God I am so exhausted". Eve said as she 'drops' on the bed weakly.

Baara comes out of the bathroom to see an exhausted Eve laying on the bed.

"Are you going to continue like this?" Eve asked. As she sees Baara coming out of the bathroom looking tattered and fatigued in the work clothes that she slept with.

'What do you mean' Baara replied.

"Your work pay is not enough to feed and sustain you, I mean you want to live comfortably but you are doing the total opposite of that, you can't...." Eve gets interrupted.

"That's ok Eve, I know where you are heading, but, I can't ok. I am fatigued I want to call off work today and rest more, please".

'Whatever you say', Eve replied nonchalantly as she turns over to sleep.

Eve is very tired as she has spent all night partying with the children of the wealthy people in the city, she is also one of the girls that want to make money 'fast' to live a comfortable life and don't care if they use their 'bodies' to achieve that.

As much as her line of work for money is not the same as Baara's, hers is also hard but brings more money and food to the table that she shares with Baara, although Baara and Eve live under the same roof, they can't be considered friends but partners who help each other in surviving in this city and have one goal to achieve, that is working and saving up enough money to live a comfortable life.

Baara sighs. Yes, she doesn't like the way she is living now, the life she always dreamt of is very far from her that she can't even see a glimpse of it. The pressure to work hard and earn money either legally or illegally is becoming stronger day by day, working those menial jobs, for now, is the only hope for her as she is not well educated and is almost in her twenties with no hope of going back to school.

In the places, she had worked in when she came to the Midian city for the first time, she saw the young wealthy teenagers like her living their best life. The life that she had always wanted.

"I need to cook up something, Eve what will you like to eat? Lemme prepare it for you".

Eve mumbled 'I will have what you are having'.

"Ok, I will be outside, to get some groceries then". Baara said and left.

As she walks the streets of the city she looks around and smiled to herself weakly, remembering the first day she came here stranded after she had run away from home as a teenager to live in this city everyone has been talking about.

Baara laughed at her old naive self thinking that coming into this city would mean she would automatically have a comfortable life since this city is the 'wealthy abode'. In this life even to get into heaven you have to pay the price on earth. Nothing is for free and just comes to you just because you want it.

You have to earn everything to make your life comfortable with your hard work and talent or with your parent's finances and for her, it's the first.

Baara sighs as she pushes back those thoughts at the back of her mind to focus on reality. She walks into a supermarket in the mall. This place the rich and the 'poor' come here to shop for their different needs and wants. Baara looks around as she picked up a shopping cart near her. She walks into the fresh foods section and picked some food items she was going to prepare for her and her roommate. She did not have a lot on her credit card to spend and so she didn't waste any more time and was done with her shopping.

On her way out of the supermarket, someone bumped into her.

"Watch where you are going, ugh this is why I hate public places".

A young girl who looks like a teenager facially but with the body of a 25year old person walks by arrogantly.

"Really? You bumped into me and I am the one to blame?" Baara reacted.

The girl just waves her hands and continued her walk without care, from the way she is dressed and the way she carries herself one would guess that she is one of those pompous kids of the wealthy folks in the city.

'I don't blame you though if I was born into a wealthy family too and life hadn't happened to me I don't know how arrogant I would be'. Baara thought to herself as she looked at all the luxurious cars parked around the mall and the roadside as people come and go into the mall.

As Baara walks back to her apartment she noticed that her small purse is missing.

"What?! it was right by the side pocket of my jacket, how come it's gone?"

Baara asked and thought to herself.

"Nope I didn't leave it at the payment counter, I remembered putting it in my pocket." Baara continued tracking her steps subconsciously until it dawned on her.

'That arrogant girl stole my purse, she is not a rich pompous youth, she is a petty thief!! Oh my.' Baara said to herself.

What a wonder, even in this big city there are still petty thieves, wow! everyone is tryna make a living with any means possible; well unfortunately for her I am not a rich somebody who moves out with some 'few hundred bills' in my purse. She has to have some bad luck today with meeting me. Baara laughed to herself.

"Oh no, this isn't funny my credit card, my ID card, and other important things are there. Ugh I can't even rest on a normal day off". Baara said frustrated.
