The federation

The next evening , I made the two angels come into my room , expecting me to abuse of Zarall once more , they were already glaring at me.

Seeing this I could only form a wry smile on my lips, sure I could do that , and I want to but that would be torture , even more for me than for her.

"I did not make you come here for what you're thinking" , as confusion were visible in their eyes , I continued:

"I want you two to tell me about the federation"

'Since mother forbid anyone in the castle from speaking about them , it made me curious, every time I asked her about them , she had a disgusted look on her face and told me that they were of no importance and that I should focus on my spells.'

"Don't you already know ? there is nothing new that we can tell you." Said the father suspiciously looking at me.

'In truth , I don't know anything' I said in my mind.

"Yes, I do but I still want your version."

He casted a glance towards his daughter before turning back to me .

"I can tell you, but I want something out of it"

"Oh, and what makes you think I'm going to give your something in return?" I said grinning at him.

Sighing in defeat , he spoke "I only want you to stop giving orders that makes my daughter … embarrassed."

'I had no plans of doing that, If I make her naked when we speak , I'm only going to be distracted, and If I want to , I could always break my words.'

"Alright" I said but I will take some precautions before you start speaking, I said as I casted hypnosis on him.

"When you tell me about the federation ,you cannot lie or omit anything."

'Hum?' I casted a surprised glance towards the notification that popped up.

'it's now that you level up ? for such a shitty order at that'

Putting this level up to the back of my mind, I beckoned them to take a seat at the table in my room and to start the story.

"The federation and the empire have been at war with each other since forever , the only time they were at peace was when Astaroth Ashes founded the Vampire's kingdom, but soon after the annihilation of his kingdom , their peace was no more.

The federation is composed of 6 races :humans , elves , dwarves , mermaids , beastmen and angels.

Humans ,elves , beastmen and angels are the most abundant, Mermaids and dwarves are rarer .

In the federation we all venerate the Goddess Garentha , her main temple is in the capital.

Each race has his own god-warrior who leads them , those warriors are considered the leaders of their respective race . When a decision needs to be taken for the Federation , those leaders meet in the temple of the goddess in the capital to discuss those matters , the temple send a god-warrior as well as their representant, this does not happen a lot since it's rare for the federation to truly be in a crisis."

Since he stopped speaking , I asked the questions that were on my mind.

"With so many gods , why has the empire not been crushed yet? And do you really believe in this goddess ? I mean gods aren't real ."

As soon as I said that , the man hit the table which produced a great bang in the room , Zarall jumped out of fright .

"Dad…?"

I could see the man breathing deeply , trying to calm himself as his fist tightened and his wings trembled .

After some time , the man calmed himself .

"Please refrain from saying things like that as it is considered blasphemy , had I not been restrained , you would be dead." He said looking dead serious.

"The goddess is real , every 32 years , her priestess is born and brought to the temple for her to speak through her. Since you did not know about that , my previous assumption should be correct , you do not know anything about the federation , do you?"

Cornered , I looked left and right before sighing .

"I don't, my mother forbid anyone from speaking about the federation."

I could see a glimpse of understanding flashing through his eyes .

"I see , you blasphemed because you did not know , I can pardon your offense then"

'Excuse me ? you're my slave you know?' surprised by his reaction I did not taunt him as he started speaking again.

"As for your other question , first of all , don't call the god-warriors , gods , as they're only being that surpassed the mortals but they're not gods. There is only one god and that is the goddess." He said dead serious once more , it seems like I'm in front of a devious believer of this goddess

"The Federation can't crush the Empire , even if all the god-warriors of the temple , the leaders of the races and the priestess came to attack , the empire will not loose . Your father and the two other kings of the empire would probably die but the emperor alone would be enough to destroy most of our forces."

"The emperor?" I asked not expecting someone to be so strong that he could fight more than ten gods by himself."

"You don't even know about your own country, right?" asked the man while sighing.

"I never really cared " I said with no shame on my face.

The man sighed out of annoyance as he started speaking again:

"The empire is governed by the Demon's emperor , under him there are three kings , your father and the two other god-warriors, having each a third of the country under them. The emperor spends most of his time in his castle in the capital. It is said that he was the one who founded the empire more than a hundred thousand years ago, many believe him to be immortal he governs all races that do not recognize the goddess, but he does not partake in any decision in the empire as he let his kings decide about everything. The only times he moves out of his castle is to go to the academy to the capital to look for talents, the priestess through the years all said that attacking the empire while he was there was complete suicide, so the empire and federation are waging war at the frontier while we're waiting for an opportunity, but we do not dare to trespass onto the Empire territory as it could make the emperor angry and make him come out of his castle."

"So, you're waging a war that you cannot win, and you've done that for thousands of years waiting for the immortal emperor to die?" I asked him , looking at him as if he was an imbecile

Seeing how I looked at him did not please him, so he crossed his arms and said:

"You may think it's stupid but you're just a kid , you will learn , if you grow old enough for that, that every being has its limits. Now do you have any other question?"

"Yes , you said that you were one of the 13 generals and that she was your prince's fiance but I want to know how strong you are and why she was chosen as the prince's fiance."

"Why would you want to know that " asked the man suspiciously while his daughter looked surprised at me.

"Isn't it right to know what your slaves are doing?" I asked him with a devilish smile.

Having been reminded that I made them my slaves , both of them looked gloomy and angry and the man started to speak reluctantly.

"I'm Aarin crowwing and this is my daughter Zarall Crowwing , our clan is ranked 5th and I'm ranked 11th among the generals , all the generals serve the leader of our race who is considered our king , as for my daughter , she went to the federation's academy during her childhood and became friend with our king's son , my daughter was recognized as a genius and trough some tests , which I can't tell you about, we discovered that she had the potential to become a god-warrior , since she had a pretty good relationship , she was engaged to our king's son."

Surprise flashed across my eyes as I heard that this girl , who was now my slave, had the potential to be as strong as my father . I casted another glance towards this beautiful angel , she was not only beautiful but talented as well. Thinking about that , another question surfaced in my mind.

"How strong are my parents?" I asked Aarin who stopped being surprised about my lack of knowledge.

"You dad is strong , 15 years ago he took down two race leaders, he killed the human and the mermaid's leader , as for your mother even though she's not a god-warrior , she could her own against our leader which had to retreat , they're known for being nearly invincible together, only some old god-warriors would dare to take them two on two."

'Nearly invincible ? I will have to inspect dad once he comes back , I wonder how strong he is'

"Do you know why my mother hate your race so much?"

"It's not only your mother , but every vampire also hates the angels, we've hunted the vampires through the ages, as they're one of the worst beings in this world , before Astaroth created the Vampire's kingdom , we hunted them even in the Empire ."

"But didn't some vampires join the federation after the fall of their kingdom?"

As I asked this question , I could see surprise in the eyes of Aarin.

"So, you know about that but not about the most basic stuffs?"

"Mother only told that" I answered.

"Most of the vampires that betrayed their kingdom were executed." Said Aarin coldy while Zarall expected this answer.

"But some remained , the goddess teaches us to love everyone , so we gave a chance to them , they had to convert to the goddess , most of them did not as they only saw Astaroth as worthy of their admiration , but some are indeed still in the federation , they cannot appear in public, but we use them to control the dark world of the federation."

As Zarall heard that , she gasped in surprise , watching her father in disbelief who looked at her with a wry smile.

"I'm sorry honey , not everything is all black or all white."

Ignoring Zarall's reaction I asked him

"What's the purpose of your dark world ? is there a dark world in the empire?"

"There is no dark world in the empire , everyone does as they feel so they do not need such thing. As for what it does : prostitution , slavery ,drugs, corruption, ... All these things , even an angel can lose himself in sin , in the past those people were hunted down , but it took too many resources, and it was hard to replace the people that were eliminated so with the fall of the vampire's kingdom the leaders decided to use them to control those individuals."

I was surprised , and it seems Zarall was aswell as here eyes were hollow and she was shaking, seeing his daughter's reaction , Aarin could only smile wryly and wait for my next question.

"I don't have anything more to ask , you may leave " I said as I weaved my hand.

Before they left , Aarin spoke once more.

"Don't forget your promise "

"If you don't leave, I'm going to make her unable to wear clothes in the castle." I said irritated by his demeanour
