Chapter 6 Training

Jack had been training to learn the powers he acquired from the X-men the ones he found the most fun was Angel's and Iceman's. Although he found that using Shadowcat's and Angel's powers together made for a terrifying combination. Imagine flying towards your opponent then flying through them to attack them from behind.

He enjoyed flying with Angel's wings and making the ice bridges he was doing these trainings with his Apex clone in his underground training room. He also had absorbed Jean's powers since she was miles ahead of Xavier in terms of strength, at least with her telekinesis but he only really trained to use her telekinetic abilities while only using her telepathic abilities to just make him immune to having his mind manipulated, because honestly that was all he needed and he didn't care to train it for any other reasons he doesn't like the idea of reaching inside someone's mind and controlling or influencing them.

["Besides, there is someone I will meet later who is stronger than Jean in that aspect. At least when she's not in her Pheonix persona."]

(Back in the Xavier Mansion)

It was the next day and Jean came to Jack's room and knocked on his door saying "Jack it's Jean, the professor asked me to bring you to the place where we can help you train your cloning ability."

Jack shouted from the other side of the door "Cool, I'll be right there." Jack then walked out and said "So do you guys have some kind of special room to train abilities?"

Jean was a little stunned because he figured it out so quickly and wanted to know how so she asked "Yes, but how did you know?"

"It's pretty obvious actually, some of these mutants powers could be very dangerous and we wouldn't want to damage where everyone is living."

"Also, I don't like the term Mutant it makes me feel like a freak of nature or someone with a disease."

Jean could understand his thought but still asked "Well, what would you prefer to be called?"

Jack had a wide smile while thinking this might be the way he could start to change people's impression of mutants if he wants to stop future events he then said.

"I like the term Metahuman, because after all isn't that what we are? We are still humans but we are just have abilities that make us stronger."

This made Jean stop and think that he may be right and they should see if they can start to call themselves Metahumans instead of Mutants it might help the public opinion.

["Jack is pretty smart, I should bring this up to the professor he will most likely agree with him."]

(Danger Room)

Jean and Jack walked into what Jack "found out" was called The Danger Room. It had holographic projectors to make whatever environments you wanted. It had different kinds of weapons and equipment to help facilitate the best training possible per person. Jean explained the uses of The Danger Room to Jack and by the time she finished with her explanation, Xavier came in and greeted Jack.

"Jack, how did you sleep?"

"I slept amazing the bed was insanely comfortable."

"I am glad to hear that Jack, so I assume Jean already explained how this room works, yes?"

"Yes she did. And I must admit it is an ingenious way to go about training the others to be prepared for any situation."

Xavier then looked up to a glass room that was overlooking the room and said "Jean and I will be in the control room and observe your training to see how we can help you improve your ability as well as figure out all the ins and outs of it."

Jack nodded and said "Sounds good. After thinking about my ability from a scientific standpoint I have a rough idea of how it works but controlling it is a different matter entirely."

Xavier from the control room said over the PA system {"Begin Tutorial Level 1."} Instantly the room changed and Jack saw that it looked like a blue room with a lot of Hardlight hologram buildings and cars showing a random street.

Xavier then said {"Now, try to activate your ability and try to make only one clone."}

Jack pretended to be struggling to make the one clone and it looked like a cell duplicating where peices of skin where one side was him and the other was part of another clone were connected to him as it tried to make the other Jack. After a "struggle" for about 5 minutes the clone was fully made and Jack was breathing heavily and said

"I think that's the limit I can do without accidentally making a bunch more and going out of control again. It took a lot of concentration to make just the one."

Xavier responded {"That's fine now let's see it's combat abilities, Jean said each clone could think independently is that right?"}

The Jack clone responded and said "That's right I can."

Jack faked being stunned and said "Whoa, that's cool. I can feel that I am connected to the clone and I feel his emotions."

Xavier was nodding in understanding and said {"Very well, let's try basic combat training. Start the Combat program."}

Just then 3 hardlight holos appeared and attacked the clone. The clone had all of Jack's abilities including his martial arts and he took each of the 3 holos out in one attack.

Xavier looked on with shining eyes and then asked {"Jack, do you happen to have done any martial arts training."}

"That's right, I've been training in martial arts since I was 5 and I've trained with masters in Japan with every weapon and I trained in how to use firearms as well."

Xavier nodded and said with a smirk {"Then let's see how good you are."}

Then about 10 holos appeared each carrying a different weapon. They were only close combat weapons this time and they would use long range ones after they are sure of Jack's skills.

The holos attacked the clone at once and Clone Jack took out one with a bo staff easily and grabbed his weapon and started attacking the rest and in less then 3 minutes took them all out.

Xavier was ecstatic because he believes he found someone who could train the younger students to be able to protect themselves in the event their powers don't work.

But Xavier wanted to test him more so he said {"I will give you access to a myriad of weapons to train with and show us how you will deal with the same amount of holos."}

Jack laughed and said "Bring it on. I can't take care of whatever you throw at me." Xavier had him try with every close range weapon and he beat all 10 holos every time in 3 minutes or less. Jack even used a rope Dart which was a combination between close range and long range weapon in which he defeated the holos in less than a minute.

Xavier was very pleased with his performance and then decided to make it harder for him and said to Jack {"Alright Jack, we will make it harder and see how you deal with a large opponent and see if you can deal with him as fast as you did the others."}

Then a holo that looked like The Juggernaut appeared and ran towards the Jack clone. This holo was supposed to simulate actually fighting the juggernaut so it was very hard to damage.

In that instance when Jack saw his clone struggling he joined him to attack the holo and found it didn't make much difference so he decided to give them a little show and screamed and instantly created 5 more clones making Xavier and Jean's jaws drop. The clones and Jack ran towards the holo and worked together to attack him Jack ran towards three clones had one throw him up while he pulled the second and slammed him towards the Juggernaut holo the clone kicked the holo in the face with the momentum of both Jack himself and the clone and made the holo stagger backwards.

This caused Xavier's jaw to drop even lower as he watched Jack and the clones being in perfect sync. They used the principles of Judo, using your opponent's weight against them. Five of the clones charged towards the giant holo and two went for a high kick towards the head, while two held his legs and the third jumped and kicked both legs into it's stomach simultaneously. At the same time the other clones let go of the legs which caused the holo to flip end over end and slam on the ground and dissipate.

Xavier then hurriedly shouted {"End Simulation!!"}

Xavier and Jean went out from a room at the side and stood in front of Jack and looked at him incredulously and Xavier asked "How? How did you improve so quickly in the middle of the fight?"

Jack responded casually and said "Oh, that? I'm what martial artists call a Battle Genius. They are terrifying people to fight because when under the pressure of a tough opponent they can improve in the middle of a fight and turn the tables."

Xavier was still sort of confused but got the general idea and said "That's amazing, as for the fight just now it was a sight to see."

Jack smiled and said "Thank you, I trained really hard for my skills to be where they are right now."

Xavier then decided to ask him the questions that were plaguing him. "I was hoping you might join my team here and teaching the students?"

Jack was a little confused and said "I'm no teacher and I'm definitely not credentialed."

"You misunderstand I'm not talking about teaching them school subjects I mean martial arts so that they can protect themselves."

Jack looked stunned and said "You want me to teach kids how to fight, I don't think I should do that."

"Oh, I see that Jean didn't explain fully. I am talking about joining the X-men, we are a team of mutants that help protect the world from threats of other mutants like that of Magneto."

"What's a Magneto?"

"A very powerful mutant who has a grudge against humanity and has tried to wipe them out on many occasions."

"Oh I see, but how can me teaching the X-men martial arts help them?"

"Yes of course, there exists these devices called mutant power dampeners that can suppress a mutant's power and make them vulnerable and practically defenseless. I want them to be able to fight back in the event that their powers get suppressed."

"Okay, that makes much more sense. I have no problem teaching them and even joining the X-men I just have one request."

"And what would that be?"

"Well, I met this girl yesterday who has been unable to have any sort of human contact throughout her life. I wish to be able to conduct some experiments to be able to create a device to help her, with willing volunteers of course."

Xavier slightly flinched when Jack said the word 'experiments, which didn't go unnoticed by Jack.

"I have no problem with that, in fact I was going to ask if you could help her. And when you say experiments what do you mean?"

"I just wanted to observe the effects of her powers on a mutant to see if my theory about how to help her is correct."

"That could be dangerous, but if we are there to make sure they aren't hurt too much then I am fine with it."

(The next day In the medical labs beneath the school)

After marveling at the high-tech rooms beneath the school, that was introduced to him, Jack and the others went to the medical labs and called for Rogue and some of her friends to come to the labs and they saw the new guy they had just met standing their with Professor Xavier and Jean.

When Rogue saw Jack she blushed and turned her head to the side to try to hide it, while Jack didn't see her reaction, Jean did and had a small smile thinking Rogue and Jack would be cute together. Jack then stood in front of the students and addressed them.

"I'm sure you're all wondering why we gathered you here today. Well the reason we brought you all here today is we are going to try and find a way for Rogue to be able to have human contact again. For that though, we need a volunteer to let Rogue touch them so I can document the reaction and better make me able to create the device."

The students looked at eachother, seemingly sharing some kind of silent conversation and then Bobby stepped forward and said

"I volunteer, Rogue is my friend and I believe she has been through enough so I want to help however I can."

"Very well, the rest of you may head back to your classes."

Bobby looked at Jack and said "So, Jack how will you document the process?"

"I plan to create a device that can view the natural Bio-electric field of a person because if my theory is correct about how she uses her ability, then I can easily create a device to mitigate the reaction when Rogue touches a person."

(Flashback to yesterday evening in Hank's lab)

Jack was in Hank's lab with Xavier and Jean when Jean asked "So how will you test your theory about Rogue if it's not possible to view a person's Bio-electric field?"

"I will create a device that allows just that, as I have experience working with such phenomena."

Jack then created a device that looked much like Cyclops' Visor that let him see the field and see if there would be a reaction when using her power. He also created a TV sized screen that generated a field that was connected to the device to allow others to view the same as he would see in the visor.

(Back to the present)

Jack showed them the device and asked Rogue to stand in a certain space and then turned on the screen and allowed it to be connected to the visor and show what it sees.

Once it was set up Jack asked Bobby to walk inside as well and let Rogue touch him. Rogue looked at Bobby and said "I'm sorry in advance for what's going to happen." and grabbed his hand.

Through the Visor, Jack saw his theory was correct because he saw Bobby's Bio-electric field start to be absorbed by Rogue and he started wincing in pain then passed out. Jean grabbed him with her telekinesis and put him on a medical bed and hooked him up to a machine to monitor his vitals which seemed stable and he really only fainted and would be weak for a few hours once he woke up.

Jack then said to Rogue and the others "My theory was correct and I will just need a few hours to create the device." Rogue squealed in delight and ran over and hugged Jack while pressing her cheek against his face.

Xavier, not knowing Jack was immune shouted "Wait!!, Rogue Jack isn't..." He stopped when he realized that Jack wasn't affected and said. "Nevermind I guess. Jack why weren't you affected by Rogue?"

Jack shrugged and said "If I'm being honest I'm not too sure maybe it has something to do with my ability."

Xavier seemed to accept his reasoning and didn't think he was lying. He said to Jean and Rogue "Jean stay with Bobby and make sure he's okay, Rogue go back to your room for now we will call you when Jack is done with the device."

Rogue nodded and then blushed slightly while saying good-bye to Jack. Xavier looked at him and said "Jack what made you believe that she was feeding off of people's natural Bio-electric field?"

He just smiles and says "She mentioned she had to touch people's skin to affect them so she wore gloves to stop it. So I figured that the only thing that it could be is that she was actually feeding off that field, hence the reason there needed to be skin to skin contact."

"That makes sense. How is the device you are going to create, stop her power from affecting others?"

"Essentially I will be creating an artificial Bio-electric Field generator, this will allow for her to feed off the artificial field instead of the person's field. I will also make it so she can turn the device on and off so she will still be able to fight." Xavier smiled and said

"That is amazing Jack, she will be so happy."

Xavier then had a knowing smirk and said "And, from what Jean told me, she might even fall for you because of this."

Jack blushed because he actually had a huge crush on the actress who played Rogue in the movies which is the same way Rogue looks. He then tried to shrug it off and said "I very much doubt that professor."

Xavier just smiled and asked "So how long will it take you to create the device?"

"It shouldn't take me more than an hour. With Jean here, I'll just have her use her power to contact you when I'm finished."

Jack didn't actually need that much time as he could use the nanites and Cortona to create it instantly but he couldn't reveal he had some of that tech yet until he established that he had a connection to McCauley Tech which could explain how he got them. So he just went to an office off to the side of Hank's lab which seemed to actually be Hank's office and created the device right away.

Then he just did other things till the time he said he would be done arrived and then reached out with his mind and said

"Jean are you there? I'm not quite sure how this works, but if you can here me, tell the professor and Rogue they can come down, I'm done."
