23 Chapter 23: The Attack Part 2

Seth is still in the sky taking out the Dark Elves' ships. He was a little surprised that there were so many ships, but I suppose that is the influence Seth is having on the events of the MCU. So far no big changes have happened that Seth can't deal with so he is as glad as one who has to let these things happen can be. His only solace is that him making the tough choices to let some people die is keeping the timeline intact.

Seth is not at all happy with the choice he had to make because at least with the last one, he knew Coulson was coming back. Frigga, he knew, was not.

Seth essentially has set his powers on autopilot and he takes a pause to send out a telepathic pulse he finds out a major change that seemed to have come because of his interference. The Dark Elves had portable teleportation devices. The devices could lock onto other smaller devices and teleport to the specific location. Turns out the beast Elf had planted multiple of the smaller devices all through the citadel which the Dark Elves teleported to.

He then heard a roar like scream from what he remembered as Frigga's chamber and he recognized the roar as Thor and he saw as a ship had gotten passed him while he was distracted and flew to the mothership. Seth then used storm's power to stop the crazy weather and disperse the fire tornadoes. He also removed and reformed the Asgardian Ships from around the citadel as best he could using his perfect recall.

Seth flew to the balcony where he remembered Frigga's chamber was. He landed on the floor and saw both Odin and Thor. Odin was caressing Frigga while holding her in his arms and Thor looked so sad it made Seth feel really bad.

"Thor, I'm sorry. I thought I had protected everyone I made sure that no ships got inside, but I got distracted when I found out that the Dark Elves had portable teleporters. I didn't know they had them. If I hadn't gotten distracted then I could've stopped the last ship from saving Malekith and that weird beast Elf.

"It is not your fault my friend, you did all you could." Thor said while putting a hand on Seth's shoulder.

While Seth wasn't lying when he said he was distracted, it still sent a pang of guilt through him when Thor said he had done all he could. Seth knew he could've stopped her death easily. From what he remembered in the movie, Frigga was absolutely dominating Malekith and the Beast Elf was the one who made her lose. If Seth had just killed him when he met him, Frigga would still be alive.

Seth wondered to himself if he was just being stupid and that maybe whatever he did had no effect on the timeline. Unfortunately, Seth doesn't know jackshit about how time works and how his actions could affect it, he only knows what has already happened and he knows that it should probably still happen to keep the future in tact. He was also surprised that Malekith went for Jane when the Aether was inside him, but it seems as though Malekith could sense the remnants of when the Aether inside Jane and for some reason it was masked from detection when it was inside Seth's body. Then again, if Malekith really could sense the Aether that well, he wouldn't have been tricked by Frigga's magic as even though she is powerful, she can't mimic the strength of an infinity stone.

Odin nodded and looked at Seth. "My son is right had you not done what you did to stop the ships, we may have faced even more death. From what I have found out from the reports Is that while we have numerous soldiers with almost severe injuries, we had no casualties other than Frigga."

[This made me slightly nervous as I don't even know if it was my presence alone that caused it, or if the change I did by using my clones will have a greater impact in the future.]

Seth told Odin and Thor that he needed to rest to recover from the use of his powers, but in actuality, Seth was deep in contemplation on whether or not he should just say "fuck the timeline" and do what he wants, or keep the future what it is. Seth also doesn't know if he makes changes to the timeline, if he'll have the Time Varience Authority (TVA) on his ass.

The funeral for Frigga did nothing to assuage Seth's feelings of guilt and worry. It only made him feel worse. He was also surprised to find that those with almost lethal injuries eventually succumbed to the injuries and they were part of the funeral proceedings as well.

(Seth's Guest Room)

While Seth was in his room deep in his thoughts, he heard the sound of multiple footsteps outside. As Seth looked up, he saw a bunch of Asgardian guards come into his room with spears aimed at him. One of the guards which Seth assumed to be the leader walked forward.

"By order of the King, you are to be detained until further notice."

[Huh, I guess it makes sense that I'd be the one detained since the Aether is inside of me now.]

Seth looked at the guard and put his hands up in surrender and nodded. He already knew that they couldn't hold him anywhere, but he is a guest in Asgard and the odds are that Thor will end up freeing him anyways.

(Throne Room)

"We are still unable to restore the palace shields. Our artillery cannot detect them. Even Heimdall cannot see them. My King, without the help of The Warrior Caedos, we are all but defenseless." Fandral says to Odin while staring at a holographic display of the palace.

Caedos, meaning Death, was the name the Asgardians had given to Seth after he helped destroy all the Dark Elves and had stopped further casualties. After they had seen him use his powers to both protect the palace and decimate the Dark Elves' ships, he was given the honorary title.

(AN: I will be refering to Seth as Caedos when he is spoken about from the perspective of other characters related to Asgard from now on.)

Just then Thor walked into the throne room. "They are your prisoners now?" Odin stopped and looked towards Thor.

"Leave us." Thor said to Fandral, Volstagg, and the accompanying guards.

"I do not wish to fight with you." Odin says to Thor as he walked down from the stairs that lead to the throne.

"Nor I with you. But I intend to pursue Malekith." Thor replied.

"We possess the Aether. Malekith will come to us." Odin said.

"Yes, and he will destroy us." stated Thor with frustration.

"You overestimate the power of these creatures." Odin says with obvious disgust.

"No, I value our people's lives. Without the help of my friend, Caedos, there would have been many more deaths. I'll take Jane and Caedos to the dark world and draw the enemy away from Asgard. When Malekith pulls the Aether from Caedos, it will be exposed and vulnerable. Then I will destroy it and him." Thor said his voice rising.

Odin, who had been slowly walking away from Thor during the conversation, turned around and addressed Thor. "If you fail, you risk this weapon falling into the hands of our enemies."

"The risk is far greater if we do nothing. His ship could be right over our heads right now, we would never even know it" Thor argued.

"If and when he comes, his men will fall on 10,000 Asgardian blades." Odin replied.

"And how many of our men would fall on theirs?" Thor said back.

"As many as are needed!" Odin shouted back.

Odin then reeled back and leaned on his staff as he groaned in pain. Thor slightly stepped forward, his face one of concern for his father.

"We will fight! Till the last Asgardian breath. Till the last drop of Asgardian blood." Odin said shouting the first line.

"Then how are you different from Malekith?" Thor said with some disappointment.

Odin chuckled derisively then said "The difference, my son is that I will win."

Odin then slowly walked away and Thor knew there would be no convincing him of anything. He would have to take matters into his own hands.

(Darcy and her intern back on Earth)

Darcy was pacing back and forth while complaining about how she can't get in contact with Erik. She was also upset about how Jane, Erik, and even S.H.I.E.L.D wasn't calling her back. She was leaving a message for Erik explaining what had happened with Jane when a news report about Erik streaking at the Stonehenge came on and Darcy now knew why Erik wasn't getting into contact.
