Celadon Contest

The gang was in a pickle the next day after the Lavender Contest; they found out that a Pokémon contest was held in Celadon City, but it was tomorrow. May feared there was no way they could get to the Pokémon contest on time. But Ashlyn had an idea; she suggested they rode on Alita (Pidgeot), Natsu (Shiny Charizard), Alain's Charizard and fly to get to Celadon City.

The others thought that was a good idea; it would be quicker to get to Celadon City by air than by foot. Ashlyn and Alain rode on Natsu, Brock on Alita, May and Max on Charizard. Thanks to Ashlyn's idea, the gang made it to Celadon City on time to sign up for the contest.

Since the contest wasn't until tomorrow, the gang decided to hang out in Celadon City. That was when May suggested they visited the perfume shop. "I heard they have the best perfume in the entire world." she said.

"It's true, their perfume is nice," Ashlyn confirmed, "I brought one for my mum when I was last here in Celadon City and mum loved it a lot. In fact, she orders perfume from this city now."

So everyone went to visit the perfume shop. Erika and her workers were happy to see Ashlyn and Brock again, and they greeted Alain, May and Max.

"I'm actually glad that you've come here to enter the Pokémon contest, Ashlyn." Erika said.

"Why?" Ashlyn asked.

"Because I will be participating in it." Erika replied.

"Are you really, Erika?" May asked, in surprise.

"Yes, so you better be ready in case we have to face each other." Erika warned.

"I look forward to that," Ashlyn stated, "After all, it has been a few years since we last battled each other."

"What made you decide to enter a Pokémon contest?" Brock questioned.

"Well you won't believe this, but a lot of fans of my perfume have been hoping that I would enter the contest here in Celadon City," Erika explained, "so I decided to enter it to not disappoint my fans."

Just then Erika's Gloom came out from behind the counter and so did a Steenee and Bellossom.

"Gloom, Steenee, how are you?" Ashlyn greeted.

"Hey a Bellossom," May beamed, "is this yours, Erika?"

"Yes I caught this Bellossom a few months ago. Bounsweet and Fomantis evolved a few days ago. My Eevee evolved into Leafeon a week ago. Also, two of the Chikorita triplets have evolved." Erika answered.

"That's not the only new Pokémon Erika has." said one of the workers.

"She has a Hoppip, Skiploom and Jumpluff." said another worker.

"And a Sunkern and Sunflora." said a third worker.

"Wow, that's a lot of grass Pokémon." May commented, amazed.

"Well Ashlyn, I look forward to tomorrow." Erika stated.

"So do I, Erika." Ashlyn agreed.

The next day was the Pokémon contest. Five of Erika's workers were sitting in the audience seats with Alain, Brock and Max.

"It will be great seeing the gym leader of Celadon Gym enter a Pokémon contest!" Max said, excitedly.

The contest now started, and Lilian showed off the Celadon ribbon, which was the same designed ribbon as May's Lavender ribbon, and it was a forest green color with a lighter green outline. The appeal rounds started, and Erika was up first, and she sent out her Bellossom.

"Bellossom start things off with Magical Leaf." Bellossom fired leaves around. "Now use Leaf Blade." Bellossom used leaf blade to cut the leaves to shreds. "Now finish off with a little Stun Spore." Bellossom sprayed a little Stun Spore to make a finish.

Next up was Ashlyn and she used, to everyone's surprise, Moriko (Celebi). The crowd and judges were surprised to see Moriko, and Erika's workers were speechless.

"Moriko, start off with Safeguard." Moriko glowed green and she started to fly around like she was dancing. "Now Magical Leaf and then Confusion." Moriko scattered some leaves and used Confusion to twirl them around her while she still danced. And then she landed on Ashlyn's right hand to finish. The audience clapped and cheered loudly for Ashlyn and Moriko.

After that it was May's turn and she used Butterfree. Metapod had evolved into Butterfree two days after the Lavender contest.

"Butterfree use Stun Spore, Poison Powder and Sleep Powder." Butterfree created a wave of orange, purple and blue pollen. "Now use Confusion, Butterfree!" Butterfree used Confusion to spin the wave of orange, purple and blue pollen around and it looked like a painting. The audience loved it.

When the appeal rounds were over only eight coordinators could get into the battle rounds and Erika, May and Ashlyn were three of them. Ashlyn, May and Erika battled and defeated other trainers in the first battle rounds; Ashlyn used Rea (Glaceon), May used her Combusken and Erika used her Gloom.

In the second round, though, May had to battle Erika. May knew that Erika was a strong grass type trainer, but she and Combusken didn't back down. May had her Combusken attack Gloom with his fire attacks, but Erika knew how to handle fire types with Gloom. Erika had Gloom use the move Protect and have it dodged Combusken's Fire Spin and Flamethrower attacks. And Gloom used Toxic to poison Combusken. May tried to fight back but because of the poison, Combusken collapsed, and May lost the round.

Ashlyn defeated her opponent in the second round, who used a Spearow. Then of course it was time for Ashlyn to face Erika. Ashlyn and Erika were looking forward to facing each other again; after all she has been a few years since Ashlyn faced Erika and earned the Rainbow Badge. The battle soon began.

"Gloom, start off with Petal Dance!" Gloom sends out a blizzard of petals.

"Use Dig, Rea!" Rea dug into the ground and dodged being hit by the Petal Dance.

"Stand on guard for Rea, Gloom!" Rhea then came out of the ground and tackled Gloom.

"Quick Gloom, use Energy Ball!" Gloom fired energy ball and Rea got hit by it, but of course Rea didn't get hurt much since she was an ice type.

"You're a good battler like you were when we battled at my gym, Ashlyn." Erika stated.

"I've gotten stronger ever since that time," Ashlyn declared, "Now Rea, use Icy Wind!"

Rea releases a wind with light blue sparkles in it from her mouth at Gloom who starts to freeze.

"Quick Gloom, Sunny Day!" Gloom lets out a yell towards the sky, causing the sun to shine brighter and making sky clear and free of clouds, making the icy go down and melt away the ice, "Now Sludge Bomb!"

"Use Dig!" Rea dodged Gloom's attack by using Dig, so Gloom had no idea when Rea would pop up again.

"Come out and use Ice Fang!" Rea came out of the ground and bit down on Gloom with Ice Fang. Gloom got hurt by the ice type move.

Just then the timing was up, and the result was Ashlyn had a few more points than Erika, so Ashlyn won.

Ashlyn was the winner of the Celadon Contest, and she received the Celadon ribbon.

After the contest was over, Erika invited the gang to stay at her gym for the night. Max was happy that he got to see and stay at a gym in Kanto, and he saw all of Erika's grass Pokémon, and May of course couldn't stop admiring the perfumes. Erika congratulated Ashlyn again on her win of the Pokémon contest, and Ashlyn was happy to have earned her third contest ribbon.
