1 Murder Scene

It was nine o'clock in the evening in Lin City. Xia Ke got off the last bus from the city and headed for an alley not far away.

Xia Ke had been living in the countryside. Yesterday, her father suddenly called her and asked her to come to Lin City to prepare for her marriage into the Jiang family.

The alley was remote and dark. Xia Ke walked alone, quickening her pace.

Suddenly, the sound of clothes rubbing against each other came from ahead, accompanied by the faint smell of blood.

Xia Ke stopped in her tracks.

At this moment, there was a bang followed by the sound of something heavy falling to the ground. The noise came from two to three meters in front of Xia Ke. Looking over, she saw a man in black falling to the ground. Not far away, there were muffled footsteps approaching…

Xia Ke made a prompt decision. Sweeping her gaze over the broken wall at the side, she immediately dodged. As soon as she hid, a figure appeared in the alley and stood in front of the man in black.

Holding her breath, Xia Ke secretly looked over. Under the moonlight, she could see that the man was wearing a black windbreaker and a black mask. His cold eyes were emotionless, and he was holding a long blade in his right hand. Blood flowed down, gathering on the tip of the blade before falling to the ground.

Xia Ke gasped. Did she encounter a murder scene? She was even more careful in hiding.

Not far away, a red Porsche hit the wall. The front of the car was dented, and seven or eight men in black were lying beside the car. Blood was spreading under them… Xia Ke's heart tightened. So many people had died?! She was even more afraid now. She tried her best to shrink her body into a ball, hoping that the person in the black windbreaker would leave quickly.

A moment later, the man turned around and walked toward the entrance of the alley on the other side.

Xia Ke heaved a sigh of relief.

Suddenly, there was an air-piercing sound. Xia Ke lowered her head. With a swoosh, a sharp blade swept over the top of her scalp and penetrated the wall behind her!

Xia Ke felt a chill on her scalp. Had she been discovered?

The moon had moved to the top of the alley at some point, and the moonlight shone down. Looking up, Xia Ke saw the man standing in front of her. He looked down at her and said in a hoarse voice, "You… saw everything?" Those cold eyes did not contain any human emotions at all. They were filled with ruthlessness and bloodlust.

Xia Ke couldn't help but shiver. Just as she was hesitating about how to answer, she saw a cold glint. The man had taken out a dagger at some point, moving to stab her in the heart!

Xia Ke's mind went blank. Was… Was she going to die? She could not dodge at such a close distance!

Suddenly, the man's hand that was holding the dagger stopped. The tip of the dagger was hanging in front of Xia Ke's heart. Pain flashed across the man's eyes, and his hand that was holding the dagger kept trembling.

Xia Ke broke out in a cold sweat. No… She couldn't die like this. The man thought that she had seen the scene of the murder, so he wanted to silence her…

Xia Ke was quick-witted. She let the tip of the dagger stop two centimeters from her heart. Raising her head, she smiled foolishly at the man. "Play hide-and-seek with me, okay?"

The man looked up in confusion, then immediately frowned. He pressed his left chest with one hand and panted a few times, his expression showing that he was in pain. Even so, his dagger was firmly pressed against Xia Ke's heart. He took out the medicine bottle with his other hand, unscrewed it, shook out a pill, and threw it into his mouth.

Slowly, the pained expression on the man's face disappeared, and his eyes became much clearer. He put away the medicine bottle and looked at Xia Ke again. The killing intent in his eyes had not diminished.

Xia Ke forced herself to look into the man's eyes. She suppressed her racing heart and pretended to look at the man innocently.

After a long time, the man asked coldly, "How much did you see just now?"

Xia Ke widened her eyes and giggled. "Hide-and-seek… Hide-and-seek… Got lost…" She turned around and looked at the alley. Pouting, she said to the man innocently, "Are you playing hide-and-seek too? You found me. Now, it's my turn to look for you… Hehe… Hide-and-seek…"

The man frowned and stared at Xia Ke for two seconds before snorting. "A fool?"

"Don't call me a fool! I'm not a fool! You're the fool! Fool!" Xia Ke retorted angrily and slapped the man's blade away. However, the man turned his wrist, and the sharp blade pressed against her neck. "Stop pretending. A fool won't come to such a place in the middle of the night."

Xia Ke was nervous. She did not expect the man to be so cautious. When she lowered her head and looked up again, she suddenly pointed at the man's hand that was holding the dagger. She shouted, "You've ruined my mood! Let go! My dad! I'll get my dad to beat you up!"

The man asked, "Who's your dad?"
