4 Happy And Satisfied

We make our way to the nearest motel as we are both extremely exhausted. We just need to take a breather and be with each other for a little while. Life has not been very kind to us. We had to go through more obstacles than any other couples that I know of.

"Why don't you take a seat on the bed and then I'll have a look at your leg?"

Sometimes I feel like a big bear with a sore toe acting like a little boy. But try as I might, I just can not get the expression off my face as this leg is bothering me very much. I want this leg to be healed now and I want to go on with my life.

I sit where she wants me to sit and then I see her kneeling before me. She has already worked with so many patients today and I am sure that she doesn't want to spend time also doctoring me. I am sure that she just wants some time with her boyfriend or should I get used to the term her fiance.

"You really don't have to do this, Kim"

"Do what?"

"You know what...doctoring me, making me feel better? I am sure you had enough of that for one day already?"

I can not believe that he thinks that he is a burden to me because I look at his leg? As if he is just some patient that I am obligated to look after.

"Nick, you should know better by now. You should know that I would give my everything to you. And looking after you is part of me giving my everything to you. If you saw that I was unhappy would you do everything in your might to make me feel better?"

"Yes, but-"

"No, no buts. Would you feel like it is a drag that you had to help me feel better?"

"No, I will most certainly not-"

"Well, then I rest my case. I am doing this out of pure love for you. Now stop moaning and let me see that leg."

NICK

I can not get over how amazing this woman is kneeling before me. How is it possible that I get to marry this woman? Never had I had anyone in my life that cares so much about me. She does not even worry about herself, being exhausted she just keeps on caring for me. There is no way that I am letting this woman out of my sight or leaving her to any man. This woman will be mine and I will not let anyone take her from me.

"Well then, it seems the only thing that I can say is, thank you"

"Now that's more like it, soldier"

I can not help but smile while I look at his leg. He has such a big heart and he just wants the best for other people. I remember how I said on the ship that no one was looking after him and gave him a reason to protect the world. I also remember that I swore that I will be the one that gave him that reason.

I will look after him because I know that he looks after this country and after me. I start to inspect his leg and despite the many times that he walked on his leg, it seems to be healing very nicely.

"I think if you walk with your crutches for one more day, you can be free of it forever but only if you do not step once on that leg again"

I watch as a smile appears on his handsome face and then he pulls me up from my knees onto the bed next to him. He kisses me passionately and says.

"Damn, you are the best woman in the world"

I can not help laughing at this declaration and then I reply with a smile on my face while playing with my fingers in his hair.

"You know, you only think I am the best woman in the world because I told you that tomorrow will be your last day walking with those crutches..."

"I can not lie, it is partially true but that is not the only reason. I do not settle for second best and you, Kim McPherson, is the best of the best"

"Well…keep up with that kind of words and it will get you everywhere…"

I can not help as my wild side takes over and I throw him on his back. Suddenly all my exhaustion has left my body and I straddle him while taking off my shirt.
