12 Do Not Open

NICK

Everything in me freezes instantly. I just assumed that the bombing was meant for me and never ever thought that it could be to kill Kim. I do not even hang up as I drop my crutches on the ground and start running.

All I know is that I need to get to Kim as quickly as possible. But then it hits me, I do not even know where she stays. But I know who will know. I run back to the man behind the computer and tell him to get Detective Marks on the phone again. It does not take him long to get him on the phone.

"I need you to help me. I need the address of my fiance"

"I thought you were a bit rude for hanging up on me like that…Do you not know where your-"

"You owe me and you owe me big time. Now! What is her address?!"

I hear him rambling through some papers and then he gives me an address without questioning my motives. I think that he knows that I mean business. I write it down on a piece of paper and then run again outside.

I feel completely hopeless as I do not have a car and I must rely on a cab. But then it is as if the guy behind the computer knows exactly what I am doing and then he shouts after me.

"Master Chief Roberts, here, take my car! It's the white Mercedes-Benz parked outside"

I turn around and I see him throwing his keys at me. I can not help but feel so thankful towards him.

"I owe you big-time! Thank you!"

I run even faster and make my way outside. I see the car parked not too far away from the door and I jump inside. I made my way as quickly as possible to the address and I can not help but feel completely worried that something might have happened to her.

I think that I will never forgive myself if something happens to her and it was my doing that caused it.

KIM

I know that the best thing for me to do is just turn around and get out of my apartment as quickly as possible. I have been in enough dangerous situations to know when I should run and this is one of those moments. I know that I can probably handle this but I should not even attempt it.

I walk out of my apartment as quickly as possible and then I take out my phone to call Nick. But then I see that my battery has died and I can feel how all my hope is lost. I know that the only way that I can charge my phone is if I go back into my apartment.

Then I remember that I was not the best of friends with my next-door neighbor but maybe I can use their phone. I knock on their door but no luck. They must probably be at work.

I really do not want to get back into my apartment but how else will I be able to contact Nick. I take a deep breath and scrape together all my courage while holding my car key has a weapon in my hand.

I walk to the closest plug that I can find to put my phone in and I look around me like a prey being hunted. Then I stand there for a while nervously waiting for my phone to charge. But then I remember that I have a cable in my drawer next to my bed that I can use to charge my phone in the car. I do not know if it is such a good idea to go back into my bedroom but I do know that I am not even feeling a little bit safe inside my own house.

I then make my way to my room as slowly and carefully as possible. I walk around my slashed bed and quickly open the drawer grabbing my cable. I run for my phone and then get to my car.

I do not even think that I was this nervous when I was kidnapped on the island but then again Nick was right by my side. I stand against my car just taking a breath and then walk around to get inside. But then I noticed that the door is slightly open.

That is strange, I am almost sure that I locked the car. But I do not care as I get into the car and lock the door as quickly as possible. I need to get to some sort of safety. I put the cable in and start charging my phone.

I turn the key just a little bit so that my phone can charge and I just wish that this charging can go much faster than what it already is.

NICK

I consider myself to be a very good driver but it feels like I get nowhere, slowly. Luckily, this Mercedes-Benz has some power behind it and I do not mind stepping on the gas. I take out my phone and try to call Kim but it goes to voicemail directly.

Panic seems to have taken a place in my heart as I can think of so many things that he might do to hurt the woman that I love. If he was willing to use a suicide-bomber just to get some sort of revenge, then I can only imagine what he will do next.

It makes it even more possible that it is him because his specialty was explosives. He must be extremely mad that I am still alive or for that matter, the woman that I love. I get into her driveway and park the car as quickly as possible. I see her car is parked not far from mine.

I can not help but breathe a breath of relief when I see her sitting in the car. I make my way to her as quickly as possible and as I want to open the door to her car something catches my attention.

I know that he is an expert in explosives and something just tells me not to open that door. I bend down and look at the bottom of a car and there it is. The thing that I feared...another bomb...

Then I see her noticing me. She then reaches for the door handle. I run at fast as my legs can carry me and smash right into her door holding my hands against the door, tightly.

"Do not open the door!!!"
