Chapter Ten

We pulled into my driveway barely after 5 am, my parents were waiting in our kitchen.

"Good morning girls. Bree can you have your parents come over so we can say goodbye to them?" My mom asked as she emptied the last item from the refrigerator.

"Yeah I'll go get them." She said glumly walking out my front door.

Facing away from my parents I sealed my eyes shut and tried to imagine everything that was packed in boxes was back in its rightful place when I opened my eyes up again.

"How was your night?" My dad asked.

Coming back to reality I managed, "Oh, uh it was good. We went up to camelback and hiked around for a few hours and then spent the night in a free camp area on the mountain." I lied.

"That sounds fun sweetheart, I'm glad you had fun." My mom smiled.

I took a deep breath and walked down the hall to my room.

Me and Aleah's room.

Leaving this house feels like I'm leaving a piece of her behind.

Just then I heard Bree come through the front door with her parents so I started back to the kitchen.

"We hate to see you guys go, we'll miss you so much." Bree's mom cried as she hugged my mom.

Our dads shook hands and did a bro hug.

Bree and I just stared at each other.

We couldn't choose to believe it.

"It's time to go sweetheart I'm sorry." My dad said solemnly as Bree and I cried, embraced.
