Chapter One

As I gazed out of the hospital window in my room I could see the snow capped mountains far away and hear the busy street below, I was jealous of the freedom.

I longed to be free.

No more routines, no more schedule, no more tests, just free.

Lost in thought, my nurse startled me as she came in, "Good morning Hollie, are you ready for your breakfast?".

"Yes, thank you!", I lied. I already had a plan to get rid of it before she came back.

After I saw her turn the corner in the hallway I jumped out of bed with my poor excuse for a breakfast and headed straight for the toilet. I flushed all of my oatmeal, eggs and toast, only leaving enough to trick them into thinking I ate it.

I peered out of the bathroom to see my nurse rounding the corner back to my room, I tossed the tray back on the bed and sat down in the chair next to the window.

That was a close call.

She seemed clueless as she walked in as her usual happy-go-lucky self.

"I'm happy to see you finally got something down! Did it taste okay? I heard there's a new cook in the kitchen."

"It was alright. Oatmeal was really lumpy though." I gave a stank face and pointed at my mouth.

She laughed as she cleared my tray and silverware.

"Be sure to get yourself dressed so we can head to group therapy, okay? I'll be back in 20." She said as she left the room.

I walked over to the mirror on top of my dresser and stared into my reflection.

"Who am I?", I sighed.
