MY MYSTERY GIRL (too attached to let go)

CHAPTER TWO : Damsel in distress?

Seconds ticked into minutes but his gaze never faltered from her.

She was quite an interesting sight. A glistering package he would love to unwrap. Nothing he wouldn't give to behold the beauty behind that mask.

She seemed oblivious of the dozen guys surrounding her, trying all they could to get her attention.

Deep down, Austin couldn't help but try to fathom what her game was.

He chuckled, as he thought he finally figured it out.

A coy one she was! Pretending to be uninterested in other to gain more attention? That's quite a move.

How he would love to rain on her parade by seizing her from all those attentions!

Quick enough, he remembered he was sworn off women. He sighed in sheer frustration, slumping back on his stool.

The loud crashing sound brought his gaze back to where they had been.

She seemed to be in a really heated argument with a plumpy man. The man had a poise which screamed danger. Anyone could see she was in one hell of a mess.

Austin watched in discomfort, really itchy to join the scene and save the damsel in distress. But he didn't wannna get involved in her drama. Not another scandal!

For a second, he tore his gaze away from them. Her soft gasp was strong enough to get him to his feet, running to her rescue. Hell and be damned, but he just couldn't sit and watch anymore.

The man had grabbed her tightly by the waist. She —however— was squirming uncontrollably, stamping hard on his feet. Austin felt his knuckles tighten as he watched the man hurl her violently to a table.

She tried fighting back but was given a hard slap, which made her fall face-first on the table.

Throwing caution in the wind, Austin broke into a small run.

With every step he took, he felt he was walking into some cage. An emotional chaos. The signal was a huge red, but he couldn't bring himself to turn around.

He grabbed the man by his coat and threw him off the girl in a hard yank. The man shattered on some drinks.

"Who the hell are you?" The man barked. Staggering to his feet, he broke a bottle and aimed a piece of it at Austin.

Loud gasps were heard from all corners. Austin stiffened. The last thing he needed now was another unpleasant scandal.

Even though he was masked, he still didn't wanna create a scene.

"Here..." he fished out a wad of dollar notes from his pocket. "...take this and leave."

The plumpy man gave a sheepish grin as he took the money. He guffawed, waving it in the air. "Now that's what I'm talking about!"

"And here it is, so do shove it down your ass." Austin said icily. "In the meantime, why don't you get lost?"

The man ran off, kissing the money like it was some sort of a trophy. What a Buffalo!

He turned to the girl who was curled-up at a corner, shivering slightly. He couldn't help the rapid beat of his heart as he took a closer look at her.

Her soft, fragile skin looked like it could use some kissing and caressing. Her long, smooth legs would look sexier wrapped around his midriff.

An involuntary moan escaped him at the sleazy thoughts ravaging his mind. He quickly snapped his mouth shut as his eyes met hers.

Though her face was masked, he could still see her oceanic blue eyes. Boy, were they lovely!

He squatted in front of her, tilting her head back slightly with his index finger.

"Are you okay?"

His tone oozed with great concern that made him wonder what the hell was wrong with him.

She was a total stranger, he reminded himself. A total stranger he almost got stabbed for!

She nodded, but didn't utter a word.

He rubbed on her mask, at the area she'd been slapped. "I'm sorry about this. I think the man was high on some shit."

She didn't utter a word again, but kept staring intensely at him.

Austin wondered if she found him fascinating or was casting a spell on him.

But he needed to hear her speak. He needed to know who she was; why she had this different aura around her.

He gently took her hand, and squeezed it warmly. Maybe that'll help her relax.

"English?" He requested.

"Thank you." her voice came out all soft and totally mesmerizing.

He gave a triumphant smile. "Here..let me help you up."

He took her hands in his and helped her up, gently placing her on a bar stool.

He took a seat beside her, holding her in place with his eyes.

She seemed a tad relaxed now, but he wanted to make her completely relaxed.

"Can I get you a drink?" He finally asked, and silently prayed she doesn't reject his offer. He wasn't sure what else to say if she does.

It's crazy. He'd always been the guy with the best lines. He'd always known what to say to any girl to make her fall, irrespective of her calibre.

He was a pro when it came to women; always in charge of the situation, but right here, he couldn't boldly say he was in charge. His tipsy state wasn't helping at all either.

"Martini." She mumbled.

He gave another triumphant smile and turned to the bartender. "a glass of martini, please"

"What do you want?" She asked firmly.

To take off your mask, he almost said out loud.

"I never said I wanted anything, did I?" He retorted instead, a little nonchalantly.

"You don't need to say anything. It's pretty obvious in your eyes."

"And what is it you see in my eyes?"

"Lust"
