The Shaman

Chapter 4

it's morning, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and there's a dead body.

the tribes people are scared and they are starting to suspect us, still I think I might have an idea as to who's responsible I decide to keep my mouth shut and make sure. the dead person is one the tribesmen, a seventy something year old, I couldn't care less about him but he's body is displayed in a ritualistic manner and it's creepy.

naked guy walks up to me, he tells me that if word gets out it could bring the attention of the High Lunar Judge.

Though I don't think to ask, I'm left to wonder who they are and what might happen if they get involved.

An hour goes by, the body has been disposed of, and I just remember that I haven't seen the others aside cept since we got here.

I ask naked guy to take me to the others, on our way there he tells me his name is xel, to which I give no response.

we get to the infirmary and there I see ace on the third bedding from the right.

" ace can you hear me, are you alright. "

he responds with mumbles. I know it's not a good sign, just then I see luvera, she's on her feet and she seems to be getting better.

" luvera, how are you doing ? " I ask.

" not good at all " she replies.

I decide to give her some space and then I ask for kasim, xel takes me to the hut he has locked himself in. xel wants to go in with me but I ask that I go in alone.

" okay, but be careful in there. "

" I know "

I walk into the hut and it's very dusty and unkept, obviously this is some old storage room or something.

" kasim, are you in here "

I get no reply, then I hear something behind me, I slowly turn around and it's Ace. his face pale, his eyes bloodshot, and he's sweating bullets.

" ace, what are you doing here "

" .... " I get no response.

" ace, are you okay "

" ... " still no response.

now I'm really freaking out and I don't want to be in here anymore, but on instinct I don't make any sudden movements.

I begin to walk up to him slowly and when I'm close enough I can hear him mumbling something to himself. at first I think nothing of it but it starts to sound a little bit familiar and as I gently touch him he screams so loud it sends chills down my spine.

he grabs me by my arm and crushes it, his strength is amplified and I'm shocked because I know for a fact that ace shouldn't be able to hurt me with his bare hands. I push him back and he falls over, I quickly make a run for the door but he grabs my leg and next thing I know I'm on the ground face flat. he drags me closer to him while still mumbling in what I now believe is the demon tongue. I kick him in the face with enough strength to smash it instantly but he shrugs it off like nothing and that's doing wonders for my self-esteem. xel runs through the door and kicks him off me.

" what's wrong with him " xel asks

" I don't know but something is seriously wrong with him "

xel partially transforms as I can see his claws are out, his height is increasing and his horns are sticking out, yes these werewolves have horns and antlers.

he jumps at ace, but ace evades the attack, then reaches for a blade on the floor.

" lookout, he's got a blade " I yell to xel.

though ace does something I wasn't expecting. he runs the blade through his stomach then upwards, xel and I were not expecting that and he says " help me " as he plunges the blade through the underside of his head and falls to the floor, now I'm really traumatized.

xel asks that we go to the infirmary to get my arm looked at, but I tell him to ignore it because I have incredible fast healing, like I said before, something about bloodline but I can't remember. though he's not taking no for an answer. then he tells me he was actually wondering how I was able to sleep with him the previous night and come out relatively alright and it seems he has his answer.

" are you a werewolf ? " he asks

" no I'm not "

" then what are you ? "

" what do you think, I'm human so stop asking "

" okay "

" ... "

then I ask for cept cause wether I like him or not, a friendly face that isn't trying to kill me would be nice. xel tells me that cept went along with a few others to hunt.

" they should be back in the next hour or so "

I go to check on luvera, I tell her what happened with ace and we talk for a bit, I ask if she has seen kasim. she tells me she hasn't seen anybody apart from me and ace. I leave her to recuperate and I ask xel if he knows anything about a demon tongue.

" demon tongue ? "

" yeah, do you have any ideas ? "

" yes, though I don't know much about it the elder shaman should have some insight "

" am I suppose to know what an elder shaman is "

" it's a title given to an elder tribesman or woman who dabbles in magic ". I honestly didn't know werewolf people did magic, I guess you learn everyday.

we make our way to the shaman's shrine, and when we get there xel asks that I let him do all the talking to which I agree, cause I don't wanna talk to no witch doctor. he calls to the shaman before we go into the shrine. it's looks very shamany in here, it definitely lives up to the hype. there are cobwebs everywhere, animal skulls and what I hope aren't human eyes and internal organs in jars. there's a cauldron with green goo in it and it smells funny, and right next to it is Kasim.
