13 LURKING IN THE DARK

ALEXIS

Adrenaline rushed through my veins as he trailed his hand over my cheeks and my heart pounded softly.

What did he want to do?

I shrieked as he pushed me off from the cliff into the water.

"You pyscho" I shouted at a laughing Aiden "When I get you, you are so dead"

I came out of the water dripping wet and pursued Aiden who took to his heels quickly.

Proudly, I'm ten times faster than him so I caught up with him in no time.

We fell to the ground and burst into laughter.

"You sick psycho, you should have warned me though" I said laughing.

"It was fun still, though. Right?"

I didn't realize I had fallen ontop of him until when our eyes met.

We both instantly stopped laughing and stared into each other's eyes.

For the first time since we started trying to make each other work, I kissed him first and he wrapped his hands around my waist.

We heard a small rustling in the tree and that broke us apart.

We hurriedly stood up from the ground and I avoided his gaze.

I couldn't believe I'd even kissed him openly outside.

That was unlike me.

"You really surprise me, Bentley"Aiden said teasing me and smiling from ear to ear.

"Shut up" I replied jokingly"I'm leaving" and walked away as Aiden grabbed me and hugged me from behind.

"Let's go home together"

I blushed as I nodded my head as we both left the waterfall park oblivious to someone lurking in the tree watching us.

The following morning, I woke up to see Kenny in my room and shrieked.

"Dear god, what are you doing in here!?"

Kenny smiled at me"You're going to be late"

I sat up from my bed"Then you should get going. I'm going to school with Aiden anyways"

The smile on Kenny's face faded"Okay"

I suddenly felt bad over how I'd sent him off so as hebstood up from my bed and headed towards the window to leave, I called him back.

"Wait!"Kenny halted"I'll get ready in a minute and go to school with you "

Kenny's smile broadened"I knew you would change your mind "

As I got down from my bed and entered the bathroom, I suddenly remembered my promise to Aiden and rushed back to the bedroom to chase Kenny away when I saw him and Aiden glaring at each other and having a heated conversation.

AIDEN

I rushed to Alexis place the following morning so we could go to school together but on getting to her bedroom and seeing Kenny, my blood boiled.

"Why are you still hanging around?"I asked annoyed.

Kenny smiled"Can I assume we are friends now that you don't speak to me with respect?"

I grabbed him by the collar of his shirt"If you want respect then respect me too by not hanging around my girl"

Kenny cocked his head and I felt like bashing his head in"But she never told me to stop hanging around her"

That was it. The last of my self control.

I raised up my fist to punch him when Alexis rushed in and broke us apart.

"Aiden, Kenny stop it!"she shouted looking from one of us to the other.

I pointed at her angrily"I thought we had a deal"

"I forgot but Aid-"

I scoffed"You forgot?". I nodded my head"I get it ."

I turned around and left with Alexis calling after me but I didn't even budge.

I went to school angrily and went up to the roof to feel better.

I laid on the bench on the roof and covered my eyes taking in deep breaths.

"Why are you so jealous?" My inner wolf asked "Grow up , dude.You used to be so lovesick"

"Shut up"I growled

"If it's about Kenny then-"

"She broke a promise to me"I opened my eyes "Alexis has never done that before. She keeps doing new things because of him and it annoys me "

"Should we go for a run then?"a voice asked.

It wasn't my wolf. I opened my eyes to see Bobby hovering above me.

I sat up on the bench as he sat down beside me.

"So ,she's the one giving you problems uh?"Bobby asked.

I looked away from Bobby"I don't even know if I'm the one with the issues or her"

Bobby placed his hands on my shoulders"Getting jealous is not a bad thing man but don't over do it. You might just end up pushing her away"

I looked at Bobby and tapped his shoulders as I remembered that he was speaking from experience.

His mate, Natasha and he were best of friends too just like Alexis and I but now they were more distant than ever.

"Come down for class soon"Bobby said giving me his final piece of advice before leaving me in the roof.

I sighed and as I stood up about to go down from the roof, Liam and Grey walked up and approached me stealthy.

"Longest time, Buddy"Grey said smiling as he walked towards me.

Just great. I thought. Just the two least people I wanted to see right now.

"We couldn't have much fun last time,I apologize" Liam said smiling"Hope 'sidechick' won't be here to interrupt today"

I backed away slowly as they approached me.

"Don't run, we just want to play some more"Grey said pouting

"Stop it " a voice said halting Grey and Liam.

I looked behind them to see that it was Jessica.

"Let him alone, brother"

Brother?? I thought. Who was her brother?

"Get lost. Don't you hate omegas as much as I do?" Grey retorted and stifled a laughter as he said"or have you gotten soft now that your mate is an omega"

"Hey-"

I grabbed Grey by his shirt. I couldn't stand him disrespecting a girl"Don't talk to her that way"

Liam launched a punch towards me but he was punched on the face rather by someone.

The person caught the attention of us all.

He was breathing heavily and wore small pairs of glasses.He was the nerdy type.

One could tell at a quick glance that he was an omega and the only reason he was interfering had to be because he was Jessica's mate.

"Don't talk to her that way" The sturdy nerd growled at her Grey.

Grey scoffed as he pushed my hands off him and picked up Liam from the ground and they left.

I looked at the sturdy nerd and smiled"You are as good as dead for hitting an alpha, you know that right?"

He nodded his head and scratched behind his head.

I looked back at Jessica"And you,stop getting involved with me. Just because I helped you out once doesn't mean I've forgotten all you've done to Alexis"

I walked past her when her words halted me.

"Do you really want to weigh who hurt Alexis more between you and I ?" She looked back me and sneered"It's you. It's a good thing she sees clearly now. On my way up here I saw her with that other beta guy. Lucky her"

I balled my fist . I knew exactly what she was trying to do so I turned around and ran downstairs.

When I got downstairs , I saw Alexis and Kenny hugging each other.

With every burning anger inside me, I roared "WHAT IS GOING ON HERE!?"

Alexis refrained from Kenny and walked up to me with tears evident in her eyes and whispered softly.

"Aiden, all these while..did you deceive me?"
